Jaco with the slimmed-down version of his big band live in Montreal. B. Mintzer-sax, R. Brecker-tpt, O. Molineaux-steel pans, P. Erskine-drums, D. Alias-perc
fantastic playing.I saw Jaco for the first time in Amsterdam in 1975,with Weather Report. The last time in Cafe de Kroeg with Chet Baker ,must have been around 1986,Chet on dope,Jaco on booz. Not so nice to see, 2 very talented people is such a state of being.I just found ou t that there is Jaco park in Fort Lauderdale with a big mural painting of Jaco.
I often have trouble hearing the changes and keeping the form during Jaco's solo, but I've heard that if you walk a line to the recording it all makes sense. I will try this.
If you're refererring to Marcus Miller's comment he was talking about walking to the studio version from 76', not this solo that's quite frankly a mess..
In the description it says "Mintzer-sax"
I don't know what saxes you're looking at, but that there is a bass clarinet!
He does play a tenor later during this performance, but you're right

@ralfodrum Yes it is Peter Erskine. He only played with Jaco for a bit.
I think this is from 82 when Jaco was still at his best.
Anyone-----who was the drummer at this time---is that Peter Erskine? My favorite jazz drummer and my favorite bassist together!!!! Great time in jazz.
Where is the first half of this performance?! It's just Bob Mintzer gettin' funky on the bass clarinet?!
Quem ta assistindo em 2014 da um joinha aew!
I guess I am old fashioned and like someone playing chords
Recently I just cannot get enough bass clarinet -- besides Eric Dolphy and Bob Mintzer, who should I be listening to?
What year is this?
where is the bass clarinet intro?
What does bob mintzer use to amplify his bass clarinet?
What's happening at 5:57 ??
Jaco turned a setting on, thats the whispering sound you hear
1:25 jaco explodes
I really wish this video didn't break during that pedal point.
Good stuff indeed :-). That's no sax, though, it's a bass clarinet.
Has Erskine got one of those joke shop moustaches stuck on his top lip?
It does .....LMAO
Só viram isso 8520 vezes? que desperdício...
Here it should say: "charly parker donna lee" and "chicken pee wee ellis" those themes aren`t of jaco p...
The correct thing is to have both of names on the title... Especially talking about the chicken, that theme has the fame we all know thanks to jaco.
Grande!!
Dear Randy Brecker,
Lay off the pentatonic scales :p
