I recently started rowing and do 2k in 8:30. Really like it. It's a good alternative for cardio that doesn't just utilize the lower body, but upper body too. Watching youtube videos definitely helped me get my form right.
@@DerekRoddy8 I am doing good. Can reach 5k in 20 mins but I need to pace and push myself. I don't do rowing in every cardio workout but mix it up with other activities like running, skipping, cycling etc.
@@sameerkanade4482 5k in 20 sounds pretty good! I'm working my way up to that, currently at 4550 in 20 mins. I think cycling is great for rowing personally. When I was in my university team they had us doing circuit training... just a thought. I've been doing intervals a lot but suspect I am overtraining so I'm going to try 30min "paced" rows. Keep it up :)
Damn. he made it looked easy. it took me 5-6mins just to finish 1km only. this exercise looks simple but it's hard af. still along way to go before i reached this kind of level. good job man for giving extra motivation for ppl like us. awesome vid!
Start some session finding your rhythm and breathing, you will soon after start getting better times… keep the pace consistent - you can see in this video it’s from 37 to 42 strokes per minute, don’t try so high, but consistent across the 2k 😊👌
How tall is this guy? I feel like my strokes are SOOO LONG compared to this. I notice that his shin muscles dont even go straight up. My shins are always acute.
For most of first 900m looks like 1min 28sec split at 36 spm Then strokes per minute increased rest of session upto 40. Was that to compensate for loss of pull strength? How did you know you needed more strokes per minute? Seems counter intuitive to up the strokes to conserve energy. Seems you'd be using more energy ?
To spare legs probably. Pushing hard requires a lot of energy at such pace, while cardio can be ok. Increasing pace reduces the pressure on legs but puts pressure on your cardio. Idk if I'm very clear since my English is what it is, but that's how I can feel it while erging.

@@tubesomething Wrong. Drag preference stems from how it affects your performance, based a lot on bodyweight and strength. If you put the damper at 10 or 1, for example, it will drastically affect performance. The same goes for middle range drag factors.
@@backtobasics4267 You're right that drag factor affects the style of performance but it's still personal preference. Like I said, the total energy needed over a distance is the same, as you do fewer, harder pulls at high, or more, easier pulls at low, and it balances out perfectly. To make this concrete, you'll notice that erg world records aren't per-drag factor, they're just over distance or time.
I dont see how anyone can get that speed "without" lifting heels; the idea of keeping the heels from rocking does not make sense for this kind of speed

The only thing that could be “wrong” is the arms not getting out before the legs move… they’re fully straight by the catch however and it’s on an erg so it’s inconsequential

Amazing, that erg sounded(was making some horrible noises) like it was going to give out before you did!

It's about the efficiency of your stroke not the speed.
How they can maintan taht output for 2k is beyond me. I am now slowly getting constantly below 8min, but thata worlds apart.
bravo thats a great time well done and well paced

He had a very very quick stroke rate and lacked power. Similar idea to a high cadence when cycling
The he's taking advantage of his very good cardio

Can you perform a nine dart finish though?
