    With mick taylor in the band, the stones had a meaner, raw, kick ass sound. His guitar playing is so much better, more defined than Ronnie. The stones were awesome if you got to see them play live between 1969-74. That period is the real rolling Stones, raw and moody.

      Thats true, he was weaving notes cutting thru the rythme,,lot of scale work but knew how to tie it all together, and it did sound together as a whole.I like Taylor alot.
      I figure evryone who played in that band,thru whatever era, was ,is a Stone , Darryl Jones is a Rolling Stone too, Competent and steadfast bass player. I think he has served more time or close to that of Bill Wyman and Bill played many years.Wow!

      Mick Taylor was a great guitarist anyway.
      Apparently you don't know that Keith never likes to play solo.
      HIM prefers the rhythm guitar, especially at concerts.
      They call him Keith with the hard riff for nothing.
      If he couldn't play the guitar, a Chuck Berry etc. and so many other greats wouldn't have played with him.
      Do you know your way around, you expert.

    Mick Taylor deserves more respect for what he has done with and for the Stones than what he actually gets. In 50 years, fools will remember the Stones as a Jagger/Richards thing, no one will mention the rest. The band and their music are great, but there is something wrong in and around them. A thumb-up for Mick Taylor!

      He deserves more credit and a slice of the wealth too. How important was Mick Taylor? He was the Stones only lead guitarist and they recorded their best 5 albums with MT on lead guitar. Richards and Wood are great rhythm players. "I think he had a big contribution." Jagger told Rolling Stone. "He made it very musical. He was a very fluent, melodic player, which we never had, and we don't have now. Neither Keith nor [Ronnie Wood] plays that kind of style." (That "kind of style" is called "lead guitar".)

I'm sure Ronnie has been payed more for years, as well he should. Taylor was with stones 5 years. Ronnie, 50 years. This whole stones did Taylor wrong crap is old. He chose to leave. Taylor was definitely the best guitarist stones ever had. But they had huge hits before, during and after Taylor.

      @@MrPacedan yeah, Lennon said that alright, after breaking up the beatles, and regretting it till the day he died. Lennon was a genius, however he was an asshole as a person. Mick Jagger is one of the most iconic performers in the history of Rock n Roll, right up there with Elvis, so lets leave it at that. Lennon spoke out of both sides of his mouth, and was envious of the stones because they were a band, and his band was disbanded by him and The Yoko, so lets leave it at that

    Without the 5 Mick Taylor years I don't think the Stones would have nearly reached the plateau that they now occupy in the hall of legends. He def. put them into the top 5(if not 3). He wasn't flashy or a showoff; He always knew where he was at. And he was only a kid at the time.

      And yet they still would've made Beggar's Banquet all by themselves, along with 95% of Let it Bleed, not to mention the barrage of classic international hit singles they'd cranked out in the seven years prior to MT coming along. Actually, most of the hits after his arrival are still dominated by Keith's guitar parts and sound. I'm sure Taylor provided inspiration, but any talented lead guitar player they chose to hire at that time would've led to similar successes.

      What in the Hell does popularity have to do with his wicked good playing? He was a Bluesbreaker before his time with the Stones, so it's not like they were ever the be-all-end-all for him anyways. He even stated that he never foresaw a long run with them prior to joining. It's evident Taylor favored his musical integrity over mass coverage. Shit, if I had only ever seen Taylor playing in the back of some unassuming guitar store I'd still say he was one of the best damn musicians I ever heard. I couldn't care less for how many people know his name or not. He's the only member to get out of the greatest Rock and Blues band alive. Nobody but him can say that, and that's a big enough trophy I think.

    • @lindadote
      @lindadote 7 років тому +3

      Cha Tae-Shik ..........a Bluesbreaker at 17 years old no less! Mick was playing in The Gods prior to the that with the likes of Greg Lake (King Crimson, ELP) and Ken Hensley (Uriah Heep) at the ripe old age of 15/16 . To my mind, the best musicians the Stones *ever* had were also the “lookers”, ie; Brian and Mick Taylor. When MT left, the Stones lost that spark, (never mind melodic sound) and while I’ve heard their later material, I haven’t bothered with them since. Keith Richards actually criticised Mick’s playing, he only “wishes” he were as good! Curiously, it was Taylor who was the chosen musician on many of the Stones members’ solo efforts including Richards’ “Talk Is Cheap” album.
