Clayton thank you very much for taking me around the Winnipeg Ice Fishing Show, I took your advise and bought the X-over Lodge with the bench seat at LOTW. It was a pleasure meeting you. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and keep safe. Tight lines until we meet again. Cheers
Just got the x over lodge after seeing this. Set it up exactly like you did cuz it is so convenient. Just waiting on the lights and center console to show up in the mail
The lights are kick butt !! I ordered a set and use half in my Cottage and half in my Hideout !! I use the Dakota Lithium batteries for power they weigh next to nothing.
Clayton have you had any issue with the plastic clips in the poles in the super cold weather? I have a Frabill and the plastic clips snap in 0 degree weather.
Hey Clayton, looking at getting an otter Shack Just wondering if you can fish a 43-inch Rod inside there. Just got a couple custom-made lake trout rods 43 in. Thanks. And where did you buy it from? I'm in Alberta.
You could, it would be a little tight but it is doable. Any of the hubs for sure... I got mine from the states... Lukes Town Service in winnipeg sells them...
It just fits in my 2500 and I am pretty sure I have a 6'6" Box.... I will double check and if I am wrong I will reply here, you would have to keep the tail gate down... Sorry
hey Clayton, just wondering if you know how much of a difference there is betweem the x-over and pro x-overs?? Also is that size, the lodge, big enough for 2 guys to fish comfortably?
Not that I am aware of. I know the resort is different then the lodge. It still might work with that bar just not stay as solid. Maybe if you got another seat base you could mount the box on that?
In the US it, the Otter Pro Lodge X-over retails for 999USD and the cheapest I have seen in Canada is $1399CAN The Cabin, which is a bit smaller 2-seater but still lots of room is $100 Less. They also make a model with bench seat which is a bit less money yet too. They really hold their value well though!
I'm going to start saying this every chance I can.....it is bullshit that I just bought a otter lodge for upwards of a thousand dollars and they make you pay more for every tiny accessory. Even the travel cover is extra! I feel like a sucker.
Thanks for the message. I will pass this on to Otter, if you look at other companies it's the same way. The clam version of the Otter lodge is 1,099, and with no extras at all. Maybe they could have a package deal where you could get the hitch, cover, rod holders, cargo nets, sportsman caddy. So you pay more up front but get everything with it. They do hold their value really well, I can promise you that.
Love Giant Muskies !!!! Melton Hill Lake here is famous for Musky - New Subscriber & Awesome Video !!!!! Keep up the good work and I look forward to your next video ....Check out my channel and latest videos too...Thanks & Tight Lines, USCG Captain Scott Manning, US Army - Veteran
Why is that even an option... This doesn't make sense... if moving the arm forward provides access to the side entry, why not just make it permanent so you don't even have to worry about it... I see no reason why you wouldn't always put it forward... seems like an unnecessary option.
Without being able to have a pivot point at the base with all 4 bars you wouldn't be able to fold everything over. Frabil used to have an option like this, but it took forever to put it together. This is very fast to turn into a side door option, I have used it 5 times already on the ice.

Pleasure to meet you as well! You will love the shelter :)
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors do you keep your Otter lights in there even when you fold it down? Thanks very much appreciated.

You will love it man! I love the side door, and great choice on the console and lights!

They are pretty amazing! Give off lots of light and easy to move if needed.

Thank you Sir! Looking forward to a good ice season!
Really great review. I'm liking the st cabin this year.
It's awesome!

Clayton Schick Outdoors heck yeah can’t wait! I’m hoping to make a bunch of ice fishing videos as well.
Good luck this winter making some videos!
Nice shelter.
I love it!
Clayton have you had any issue with the plastic clips in the poles in the super cold weather? I have a Frabill and the plastic clips snap in 0 degree weather.
Should do a quick setup video and tear down.
I'll do that when I can add some fishing in with it for sure!

Clayton. I can’t believe you kicked me to the curb for Bubba Rae. Haha
HA! Was he your brother? :)
Clayton Schick Outdoors nope. Don’t know him. I think he must be from the south
Great review bud.
Thanks Jim!
Clayton, did you run the wiring for the lights inside or outside of the poles? Great video and can’t wait to see you using the otter!!!
Thank you for the kind words! I ran my lights on the outside, couple easy ties, keeps the cord snug and in the right place.
is the otter xt x over cottage two seat lighter than the bench seat in there
Yes it is a little, but not much.
Hey there, was wondering how this fits in the back of your truck? I have a standard 6ft box, wondering how the “lodge” model would fit in my truck!
The pros have the bucket seats and the regular have a bench seat. Plenty of room for 2 people yup! Very roomy shelter!
I should say you would only be able to fish one line each though.
Do you think they would install wind flop to protect the zipper?
Maybe an upgrade for the future?
On a really cold windy day, do you feel the cold coming in at the zippers?
I haven't noticed anything yet.
Hi I just got the resort x over it had a different seating bar I can’t use the caddy is there a way to use it

Ice fishing's the BEST!
It's pretty good! Nothing like getting set-up and being nice and warm in the Otter!
Did it come with wind poles?
Yes it does, all 4 wind poles.
AWESOME!!!!!!
Cheers!
OH MY GOODNESSSS
YES!!!
damn, i just bought mine last season :(
They really hold their value well, you could probably sell yours for close to what you paid and upgrade :) Or upgrade in a year or 2.
All it needs is a hammock!
"Whether to relieve yourself." Hey guy there's an 8 inch hole in the floor.
HAH! But that is for the fish!

only downside is the price tag :(
They are not cheap, but they are worth the investment, and they really hold their value if you take good care of them.
