Stylistically this is a super build! You are very talented and skilled. I take my hat off! From a realism standpoint I wonder though whether these aircraft were really that heavily weathered, worn and stained. I think Drachinifel mentioned in one of his videos about carrier ops during WW II, that the aircraft were constantly maintained and the paint was touched up constantly, plus replacement aircraft that came in regulary, fresh from the factory.
Hola, buscando informacion encontre tu excelente trabajo, quedo espectacular, estoy construyendo este mismo modelo, tu explicaciones me serviran de guia, saludos desde Chile
Awsome work ! I'm sad to see model master paints are gone now, i have a stockpile of them, every time i i bought a model i would buy the paint to build it, i haven't built any kits in a long time..
For those interested in the Battle of Midway, this aircraft had a rather sad end. Capt. Fleming and his crew were killed in an attack on the Japanese heavy cruiser _Mikuma,_ an action for which he was awarded the Medal of Honour. Anyone who wants to search for it can find a picture of the burning hulk of _Mikuma_ shortly before she sank. On top of the number 3 turret the wreckage of Capt. Fleming's aircraft can be seen. I have never been able to reliably ascertain whether Capt. Fleming was hit by flak or deliberately crashed into the Mikuma. Witnesses report that his bomb was dropped from very low altitude and narrowly missed. Some say he crashed into the sea while others say he crashed on top of the turret.
@@paulmiller9384 Debunked? I’m not trying to mislead anyone. True or not, it appears in a number of publications. I have certainly read alternative versions, one of which says he crashed into the sea. I’m not sure what it says on his MoH citation and don’t especially care if it doesn’t align.
so when you indicate a paint callout with no mixing ratio , im asuming thats straight from the pot ? stunning build again !!!! thank you so much !!!!!!
@@ofmodelsandmonsters the interior is amazing what Im, talking about is the weathering of the entire external part of the model. the blotching effect is completely gone.
Have a look at pics of the Midway "Vindicators". Fabric held on by tape (called them "wind indicators") Major sun fading on the overpainted camo and markings, Stains and scratches everywhere. The Marines were at the end of the priority list, and used worn Navy hand-me-downs. Midway was the end of the line for the SB2U and F2A.
amazing job!
i love how you always show what paints you use it's really helpful.
looking forward to your next build :)

@marcusaureliusantoninusaug2161 Thank you. I get what you mean, it's just a habit of mine to heavily weather my projects.
absolutely enjoy watching your builds, thank you
Hey Dan, I didn't know you watch my videos, glad you enjoy them.
I like your sense of humor 😂.
Je reviens voir...Très beau travail ...
Merci beaucoup.

One detailed & intricate cockpit. I have a Bailey Bridge by Bronco that is insane.
Nice work!
¡Gracias!

Rare model, GREAT!!
Nice build !
Great build and I really like the name of the channel going to sub.

That story was debunked years ago. The debris on the turret was just parts of Mikumas superstructure, not Flemings a/c wreckage.

Very nice model, may be a bit overdue with the wheathering. Overall a great build, thank you for sharing

Thank you, and yes no ratio is straight out of the bottle.
@@ofmodelsandmonsters Thank you !!!! ...Shaun 😁😁😁
Once you have painted parts before glueing them which glue do you use?
@mpierrela I'll generally use Inoteca instant bond, but first I try to scrape off a little of the paint so it adheres better.
@@ofmodelsandmonsters got it
The old Vought Vibrator.
Ha ha, I wish I had called it that in the video.
@@ofmodelsandmonsters That was an authentic nickname. apparently.
Building this kit right now, I must say - you make the cramming of the cockpit into the fuselage look easy! It's not!
Oh there were definitely difficult moments, I bet you're referring to the aluminum framing in the cockpit right?
@@ofmodelsandmonsters - Yes, though it's all a tight fit. I'm going to end up using some putty like you did. Your vid is helping a lot, thanks!
You cant go wrong, using "Unicorn Tears" Mr. Colour Leveling Thinner!
Great video. Have you built the Academy Dauntless also?
I have the kit but haven't built it yet.
sensacional
実機でこんな痛んだ塗装機を見たことが無い。特にプロペラの塗装痛みは凄いね。でも、塗装の痛み方表現には参考になりました。要は、程度の問題かな?
Thats the most laborious way to paint a model. Lots of technique put on but barely visible in the end.
I know, but I love detailing interiors, whether they're visible or not.
@@ofmodelsandmonsters the interior is amazing what Im, talking about is the weathering of the entire external part of the model. the blotching effect is completely gone.
Nice work but WAY overweathered. I've never seen any aircraft in that condition unless it was abandoned.
