    These two did more for the entertainment business than all the reality stars that currently think they are all that and a bag of chips....awesomely funny and incredibly business savy and they still found time to entertain us...to this day!!!

      Luci & Desi were close to top of the entertainment heap.
      Add Jackie Gleason, Art Carnie, Audrey Meadows, Joyce Randolf, William Bendix, Sid Ceaser, Jimmy Durante, Red Skelton you pretty much have it all in the early TV entertainment days.

    As great as that would be, unfortunately today's television audiences are prone to only laughing at things that are considered "crude" or "dirty". Nobody would enjoy it as much as others and it wouldn't last long. But I would love for this show to return!

    This game show is very interesting.That one male player sure guessed Lucy right off, it made it difficult when the players had to disguise their voices.Stars from the 1950's and every decade before had distinctive voices.Most now days all sound alike. 'I've got a secret' was a very interesting game, too.One guy on it had witnessed Abe Lincoln's assination, at age 5.

    • @guyinsf
      @guyinsf Рік тому

      Not only that but Lucy's voice was practically engrained in everybody's mind and subconsciousness in the 1950s so it was nearly impossible for her to fool anyone.

    Lucy and Desi believed in having a home and family and in fact moved their relatives to Los Angeles. The were madley in love but I think the pressures of their ever enlarging responsibilities from being performers to being studio owners, directors and producers was too enormous for a normal life, and with it enormous wealth and fame and privilege, and they just couldn't keep the pieces together. But everyone who knew them says they forever loved each other.

    Wow I didn't know about that. Thanks for sharing. A lot of people seem to give Desi a lot of heat for being a womanizer and whatnot.. but I always felt a little bad for him. It must have been really hard to be one of the very few minority actors back then.

      Those wonderful years of great tv shows from the 1950s-1960s are GONE, when there were superb tv series of all genres: Westerns, Detectives, Game Shows, Sitcoms, Variety, Dramas, etc. And nary a bad word or name-calling in them, especially toward women! Classy was the theme of tv shows in general, compared to the low-class garbage that makes up most of the prime time shows!

    I don't think that comedy becoming increasingly crude and offensive represents "progress" or "change for the better". Not by a long shot. And I'd say that what's really problematic are the people who accept crudity and offensiveness as a 'good" change. The evolution of art does not require a descent into crudity and offensiveness.

    Your opinion of what is funny decent and good are relative. the point of television shows are to entertaint. Comedy and art do not progress if they stay within the boundaries of what some people think is decent. Comedy is an art which evolves. Entertainment becomes boring if it remains stagnant. Imagine what the Edwardian era would have thought of 1950's entertainment.Like I said, things change and for the better. Its the people who can't deal with the change that is problematic.
