Amazing video ! I was in Wuhan just before the pandemic and the night life then was thriving and the food was so good. My family and I just ate all day long; 6 meals a day and snacks after snacks. We knew that once we leave China, we will not be able to find such delicious food. Because of the surmountable walking and hot weather, we didn’t gain any weight from all that eating. Now seeing your video, I can see Wuhan being more vibrant and energetic than before and I miss it. I will certainly visit Wuhan again in the near future. Thank you Sly for all your excellent videos. I enjoyed all of them ❤❤

Don’t know if you’ve been out in the early mornings in China, if not you’re missing an entire age group - seniors, huge crowds of them roam the morning markets (where they get the best deals) and rule the parks (where they sing and dance and Tai-Chi and go bonkers). I don’t think old folks anywhere in the world live like the Chinese seniors, they’re active and vibrant, their lives are nothing like western seniors, you can join them for public square dances in the parks and see if you can keep up with their moves lol.

I would say the massage prices that you showed on 4:40 aren’t outrageous. These are the traditional Chinese massage with different a la cart prices for cupping, ear cleaning, acupressure, aromatherapy, etc…. And the two columns of prices are for regular and membership prices (and the savings for membership aren’t much). This one looks like a legit massage place (I’d be surprised if they offer the “happy ending “). My concern is that if you have never done this before, you may not be able to fully communicate with the shop and getting surprised (eg. some item may require disrobe).
The one shown on 7:40 is ear cleaning indeed (the listed price for ear cleaning at the massage place is 48 yuan), and they may offer some massage as well.
One of the famous street food in Wuhan is the dry noodles (called “gan mian”干面).

I'm from Wuhan, and it's really shameful to see such a messy and dirty street scene, especially compared to other cities you recorded, no wonder Wuhan is ridiculed as the largest county in China, and I totally agree with you that the unbearable noise of horning sticks out in this city. If I had to explain, I can only say it is because that Wuhan used to be a port city which gathered a lot of cheap labor and then gradually formed a port city vibe and culture. Moreover, the humid climate in Wuhan makes Wuhan people easily lose temper. Irritability, straightforwardness and lack of attention to detail may play a role. But the most fundamental reason is the poor management and imperfect municipal construction of the Wuhan government

It’s interesting that Sly has taking on the habit of walking out at night to see the nightlife of China, down to the strange streets and alleys in cities he has never been too, without a hint of fear. That’s quality of life, man! Can you do that in the US? Multiple shootings just happened in the US this weekend, and the US politicians are busy bullying China instead of fixing its own problems.

I'm from Hubei and I went to college in Wuhan 10 years ago. It was a pretty hectic city with all the people from other parts of the province working studying and living there. Tons of construction going on everywhere. I'm sure it's a better experience right now but I wasn't really enjoying going around the city with all the projects and metro lines being constructed. I do really enjoy the college life (at Huazhong University of Sci&Tech, near Optics Valley). The campus is one of the largest in Wuhan and I often play live in a nearby venue with my band, and we would then sitting outside getting barbeque and drinks. Your vlog really takes me back.
