What a wonderful breakthrough! Thank you Nolan for being the first in proving this technology, thank you Neuralink and Elon Musk for the technology, and thank you Ellie for this interview. 👏👏👏👏👏
This story is so insanely unique, the chances of how he was dealt a life changing accident. To how he has so much support and love. And now this cutting edge technology story of empowerment. So many people have nothing close to this. So fortunate
You are in your element in your great interviewing and having the patience to let your guests tell their story. Altonishing great skill you have in making interesting channel content. Thanks!
Thanks for doing this very informative interview Ellie. Noland's temperament and attitude is inspiring - probably why he's been the ideal first patient for Neuralink.
Thank you, Ellie, that was amazing. I don't want to say it but I gotta say it, "You go girl." Nolan is quite a guy. I'd love to see him get his own, personal Optimus.
Ellie God Bless you for interviewing Noland. He is such an inspiration. I have been waiting for positive news. Take care of yourself Noland and I am definitely for you man! -Cliff Battleship Marine Supply Fairhope, Alabama
It was really fun stream! Thanks a lot for Noland and Ellie for making this stream and explaining what it's like to have Neuralink in detail! Hope that by the end of the trial or shortly after, the Neuralink team will have commercial product ready, with upgraded gaming kick-assery features.
We just know that this guy is gonna get the first Optimus/Human integration. He can already send the signals, so they'll probably directly feed them into an exoskeleton, which would likely be easier than remapping to his actual limbs, as a part of the overall project.
I'd guess that their will be little difference between using an exoskeleton and running an android from a software standpoint, since it seems once NeuraLink becomes sophisticated enough for that he will be doing the remapping.
Wow, just amazing, I had some misgivings about Neuralink at first but seeing your story has made me feel much better about it, I Hope all continues to go well
so good to see the smile on his face. clearly there are issues involved when it comes to "devices" in folks brains, but i hope that the majority - the vast majority of surgeons have their patients best interest at heart, and also, we already have plenty of artificial devices (pace makers for a start) implanted and not turning us in to elon robots 😅 i wish you well mate. i'm hoping that david sinclair will get his ten years younger pill on the shelves before i turn 75.
1:07:06 It hadn't occurred to me until Noland started answering this. Obviously he understood the situation months ago, but for me this was quite a downbeat realization just as the interview was coming to an end! 😞 Agencies like the FDA will have their rules. Medical devices must be put through trials before they can be considered for approval for general availability. Trials obviously have to have _some_ limits to their scope otherwise companies could just put every customer on an indefinite trial and never have to apply for general approval. That all makes perfect sense. But then somehow it all leads us to a bureaucratic nightmare. The realistic possibility of a situation where a functioning brain implant might have to be shut down despite strong evidence that doing so would be against the patient's best interest and medical wellbeing. Or even worse, removed! Entailing the non-zero risk of an extra brain surgery (adding injury to insult).
Thank you for doing this interview. It's clear that Noland's personality had an effect on his eligibility for this study. I love his sense of humor. Nothing personal, Noland, but I don't want you in my dreams. My mother is about all I can take. 😁Bane (sp?) is going to be roasted on a regular basis for at least a year. Glad Noland has him in his life. On a multi touch note, I'm wondering if he will learn to touch type or if he will be able to bypass that.
Ellie I hope Noland has the Neurolink for life if at all possible. My God let him know we will sign a petition for him to give Elon personally.... Keep Noland on the team permanently! Peace and Love. -Cliff
37:00 well, there is where it gets interesting, i have wondered for a very long time what it would be (will be?) like when we have access to google _in our brain_
Sometime after this recording (the next day?) some of the implanted wires pulled out and he lost some of their function but he was able to learn thoughts for a workaround to regain his ability to do things.
I am mystified about his injury. Noland emphasized being in waist deep lake water and transitioning, I think, to underwater swimming. But did he encounter something? He gives no hint of any obstacles being involved. But then he was paralyzed. Presumably his buddies helped him up. But does anyone know what happened in the transition between being normal and being paralyzed?
So if I understand it correctly, once a chip is placed below the injury, and the neurons are mapped. A person could begin to move those parts of their body.
Great interview! I liked the way you were able to elicit information from Noland. Perhaps you should not play with your hair when you are interviewing. It was very distracting.
It's Boeing Starliner or nothing for me right now. This Saturday at 3:09pm EST. Now for the guy with a chip in his head to me is similar to technology controlling cars - F'ed up. I will always drive my on vehicles and I will never get a chip in my head.
good for you. you might rethink if it was the difference between being disabled and not though, wouldn't you think? you can live in a wheel chair or with the chip you can walk? i know what i'd go for.
Please quit playing with your hair. Very distracting to your otherwise great interview. I had to quit watching this podcast and just listen instead.😢 Just tie it in a pony tail to quit the constant twiddling
What a wonderful breakthrough! Thank you Nolan for being the first in proving this technology, thank you Neuralink and Elon Musk for the technology, and thank you Ellie for this interview. 👏👏👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it! Noland is the real star of the show!
UA-cam should be arrested for not giving the video the algorithmic respect it deserves
I AGREE! I think I need to make a fully edited version
Thanks Ellie! It was great to hear direct from Noland. Your interview style could give lessons to the mainstream media.
Truth
The tech is amazing, but this man’s spirit and attitude are truly inspiring! Thanks Nolan!
This story is so insanely unique, the chances of how he was dealt a life changing accident. To how he has so much support and love. And now this cutting edge technology story of empowerment.
So many people have nothing close to this.
So fortunate
I really admire his bravery and can’t imagine what it would be like to be the first to try this in his position
So grateful he’s sharing his story!
You are in your element in your great interviewing and having the patience to let your guests tell their story. Altonishing great skill you have in making interesting channel content. Thanks!
Oh my goodness! What a generous super chat, thank you so much!!!!
Thanks for doing this very informative interview Ellie. Noland's temperament and attitude is inspiring - probably why he's been the ideal first patient for Neuralink.
I think the team probably chose him with no hesitation!
Thank you, Ellie, that was amazing. I don't want to say it but I gotta say it, "You go girl."

Pretty incredible.! Thanks, for bringing us the amazing interview Ellie!! Awesome.
God bless this amazing human being. He is a true hero. Brave!!

God Bless you for interviewing Noland.
He is such an inspiration.
I have been waiting for positive news.

Great interview.....I can see why he was chosen first....a truly positive outlook.

What a wonderful time to be alive.
Good interview and such an inspirational guy! They clearly picked a good candidate to start with!
We just know that this guy is gonna get the first Optimus/Human integration. He can already send the signals, so they'll probably directly feed them into an exoskeleton, which would likely be easier than remapping to his actual limbs, as a part of the overall project.
And he''s got an Iron Man suit on his rider so should see that in two weeks maybe
I'd guess that their will be little difference between using an exoskeleton and running an android from a software standpoint, since it seems once NeuraLink becomes sophisticated enough for that he will be doing the remapping.
Great seeing Noland again and hearing more details🥰 Who would have guessed a brain can move 3mm?
What a legend. He could be a huge streamer with his eyes closed and he can also stream wth his eyes actually closed
Nolan’s congratulations and you are an incredible inspiration I hope you continue doing great and improving
Homestly, they couldn't have chosen a better Ambassador for their cause. Noland you rock!
Heroic interview, Ellie! You and he!
So glad it’s working out.
I want to see his Star Link hat dish!
Elon Musk for King 👑 Musk-eteer 🚌🙀👑 King of the World 👑 Mars-bound 🌌👑
Amazing interview, kudos to both of you 👍
Great interview 🎉

Great interview Ellie. Really great to hear the tech and human side of the story. Its amazing to think they are just getting started.

Cudos on a masterful inteview, Eliana!

For the betterment of humanity
Love it❤❤❤❤
Great interview!!!!!!
Thank you for watching!
Good job, Ellie.
Great interview Ellie, very engaging. Nolan is a really great guy , wish him all the best...
Neuralink truly picked a great first patient!

Are you thinking of the thread retraction that was mentioned in the official blog post 17 days ago?
@@peterford5408 No, more recently on one of tech websites or UA-cam channels.
I definitely didn't have "gets implanted into a brain" on my Bingo card for Bluetooth. 😂
I am mystified about his injury. Noland emphasized being in waist deep lake water and transitioning, I think, to underwater swimming. But did he encounter something? Joystick control as well? So many questions. He should setup a Live UA-cam channel 24/7 with occasional podcast & Q-A & recording$.
Hahah Bane and Nolan this is awesome.
~~ Love from another mom

Will a neuralink to spinal implant allow you to Bluetooth connect to your spine?
They may find out the threads need not go in at all or more shallow and less invasive?
Can he control anything other than the cursor & L/R click?
Great questions! 👍👍👍 you get "subscribe" larger than life! 🙂💪👍
Great interview! I liked the way you were able to elicit information from Noland.
Perhaps you should not play with your hair when you are interviewing. It was very distracting.
Need to sense more than movement. If could type by thinking of letter?
49:00 you need an artist to come with you, obviously. 😉😜
he seems quite intelligent, but y is he so cute tho
Maybe because he looks a bit like the actor, Jake Gyllenhaal?
30:36 So, he has used eye tracker, but it's s*cks.
History making in real time
Hopefully he’s making money off of his story. Someone will buy his story to make a Documentary, book or movie.

Just tie it in a pony tail to quit the constant twiddling
Well- I thought my hair didn't look good, I will try better next time, don't kno what else to tell ya
Just tie it back and quit worrying about your looks
