    Though I just upgraded to the EM-1 Mark III, I still found your video useful. I can't wait to delve into your new book, "Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III". I found your presentation of the material clear and easy to understand, thank you!

    Great video. I need to watch it several times to fully understand. This camera is so complex

    Excellent and instructive video which inspired me to buy Tony's book through Amazon. I spent the morning looking through it and I can confirm that it is one of the most accessible and logical pieces of work I've read in a very long time. I have already quadrupled my knowledge of how to use the camera and I've only just begun reading. And by the way the telephone - sized pdf bonus book is itself worth the cost of the book.

    Wondering if you plan on creating a video based on the 3.0 firmware update?

    8:13 CAF lock has been renamed to C-AF sensitivity in newer firmware version. where +2 is high sensitivity and -2 is low sensitivity.

    Thank you. I found your follow-on for the Mark II to G. Friedman's useful book on the EM-1 to be a most worthy one, if not exceeding it.

    Hello! Sometimes I get frustrated because I want front dial and back dials to be aperture and speed. At the moment I seem to have lost aperture in favour of exposure compensation which I don’t really use …. help !

    Hi, I was about to download the book, but it appears as though the book only covers firmware 2.1 and the em1 mkll now with the firmware 3.2 is a totally new camera. can you advise

    Thank you for the excellent information. I own your book on the E-M 5 MkII and on the E-M 1 Mk II. I am anxiously expecting your book "The complete guide to the Olympus Pen F", will it be a long wait?

    For the life of me I can’t figure out how to put the histogram on the LCD screen. I have tried all of the possible combinations in the menu regarding views 1, 2 and three, and it just won’t show up. I see it on some of the Mark II training videos. Can you help?

      When you're in shooting mode, press info button as many times as you need to until the histogram displays on the screen/evf

    Tony, how can you on em1 mkll with olympus commander and the fl700wr flash shoot in shutter priority with the ISO ON AUTO. I find the iso locks at ISO 200. The only way you can shoot in FP TTL with shutter priority is to set the ISO manually. Is there a way to use flash in auto iso and allow higher iso settings?
    Cheers

    This looks good thanks Tony, but will you be doing an update after the firmware 2.0 comes (on 28th Feb 20018)? Maybe Olympus will have an updated manual or at least an add on for FW changes with additional fixes & features.

    • @TonyPhillipsPhoto
      @TonyPhillipsPhoto  6 років тому

      Hi Ross. I will do an update if it warrants.
      At this stage, the most important aspect of the update might be the addition of smaller focus points.
      It sounds like there will also be improvements to Pro Capture, and to video capability - like C-AF and IBIS for video. There's a new art filter, and some other tweaks to existing features too.

    Tony, could you tell me how to utilize the AEL/AFL button as a true AFL button? It seems that I can only apply "Focus Lock" function to a lens that features a customization function button and I cannot assign "Focus Lock" to the AEL/AFL button at all. Am I missing something obvious?

    • @CODIROME
      @CODIROME 5 років тому

      You have the answer in page 123 of the camera’s manual, which is not really very clear.
      For example, for S-AF shooting, to assign the AEL/AFL button to lock the focus, go to Custom menu A1 [AEL/AFL] and on the S-AF option, select mode 3 and press OK.
      That AEL/AFL button has been assigned to lock the focus instead of the exposure.
      Another way of locking the S-AF and leaving the AEL/AFL button assigned to lock the exposure, is to assign a button in the camera to turn the focus mode to MF. Once this done, you can focus normally, then press the assigned button and the camera turns to MF but keeping the focus on the object you focused. Then you can lock the light with the AEL/AFL button.
      I hope this helps

    Mr. Phillips, I bought your book as you advertised on this video. I bought it on Amazon, but I am bummed that I can’t get the bonus you advertise, nor can I read it as a PDF. It’s kind of useless to me on my kindle rather than my iPhone. I tried going to your website to contact you but the contact form plugin you are using doesn’t work- all I see is a short form. Please help, and thank you.

    • @TonyPhillipsPhoto
      @TonyPhillipsPhoto  6 років тому

      I can help you with all that Karissa. My email address is in the first few pages of the book. Or just search the book for "How to obtain the bonuses". It's in the first handful of pages. I'll look for your email. Oh. And the contact form is back up.

    What happens when you use a non-olympus zoom lens? How do you set the focal length?

    • @TonyPhillipsPhoto
      @TonyPhillipsPhoto  6 років тому

      For non-Olympus lenses you can only set one focal length. It doesn't work well for zooms at all. So choose a length you use frequently. Of course, it's not too hard to set each time.

    • @jackthehatphoto
      @jackthehatphoto 6 років тому +1

      If it's a Panasonic micro 4/3rds lens then the focal length is automatically recognised, even when zooming. Non-Olympus and Panasonic lenses require manual programming.

    • @tonychinn3400
      @tonychinn3400 3 роки тому

      @@jackthehatphoto This is not the case. Manual micro 4/3rd lenses like those from Samyang and Mitakon (Zhongyhi) need to be registered in the menu.

    Sorry mate, the information presented is of good value (thanks for creating the video though) but I'm afraid that for me the way you've edited it makes it unwatchable - the jumping around is just too distracting to be able to concentrate. And pronouncing aitch like HHHaitch is also annoying. I daresay that your 'book' is full of good stuff but $30 is a bit steep for a pdf that I have to print off myself! I know that you've put a lot of work into it and thus need wages, but would you sell more if it were cheaper and perhaps earn more money overall? Thanks for doing it all, I've liked and subscribed to help.
