Hey Retromation, Gronkins (the developer of Dungeon Exiles) here and I just wanted to drop by and say that I really appreciate you taking the time to check out and play my little indie game, so thank you! I also really appreciate you giving me some good feedback and I totally agree that some things (like Shielded, Guarded, etc) aren't super clear and I'll see if I can make the early game a bit more interesting (among other general improvements). So I'll try my best to improve the game based on your feedback! But yeah, if you have any other thoughts or feedback I'd be happy to hear them! But yeah, more than anything thanks again for checking out my game! Cheers, Gronkins
How much of a path of exile fan are you? Lots of similarities in naming/themes (steel skin, precision aura, gladiator having bleed synergies, etc.), Or maybe I'm overthinking typical fantasy tropes. Either way this game looks really fun as an autobattler. I'm here for it!
Hey George, I'm happy to hear to that! But to answer your question: I am a massive fan of PoE! I started playing back in 2014 and I've played every league since I mean, even the name Dungeon "Exiles" was inspired by PoE, so you are absolutely correct in spotting the similarities! Cheers!
Awesome game tried to demo and im hooked I can't wait for content creators to post endless runs with the other two classes so I can see the rank 8 bonuses for them
Just for a frame of reference, an ability going from 9% to 10% is an 11% increase in the ability. The effect went up by 1/9 of the original effect. If it said increase steelskin effect by 11% you would probably think it was pretty good. It is all about how it is presented.
eh, yeah but it is mostly due to how much impact the items and level upgrades are allowed to have. It makes it feel like there could be a little more juice on ability upgrades than an 11% increase _with a cooldown and mana cost penalty too._ It just feels weird by comparison. That is the part that I think is missed in this comment.
@@Retromation You had "infusion" on sunder: "20% reduced cooldown and mana cost", which didn't show up on the level-up screen. So it looked much worse than it was. Another presentation issue rather than a balance one.
thanks for the video Reto! You're my favorite UA-cam creator, I've bought so many games you've covered. Our taste in games is so similar. My wishlist is full of demos and alphas you've showcased.
never knew roguelikes were so interesrting. Started with Slay the spire, then FTL, then monster train and hades. Roguelikes' replay value is what seperates them and draws me to them so much.
Gronkins (creator of Dungeon Exiles) here and you're absolutely correct! The Resolve system was directly inspired by the Resolve mechanic in Sanctum, and certain abilities (like Sunder) were also inspired by PoE
Why game devs often don't realize why it's important to define things such as Vulnerable with numbers is beyond me. There's a big difference between 5% and 50% increased damage taken, and you have no idea what you're getting. Literally blind pick.
You say the comment around 5 minutes that you think this type of game should show you exact numbers. I think every game should show you exact numbers. It has never made a game better by having the numbers obfuscated with generic words. People just datamine the game to find out what the values are, because who wants to deal with that uncertainty.

@Revenger373 it does not increase cooldown that's a ui issue. The infusion reduced cooldown from 5 to 4 which isn't showing on upgrade screen

You should try out streets of rogue. It's one of my favorite roguelikes
@@percinatto i will
They took a really nice inspiration from Path of Exile, the habilities, synergies are all name of gems or classes.
"He reads as a stat check to me"
Isn't that like the entire point of autobattlers 😆
Not good ones!
Ive learned so much about creating rogue builds in games from watching you play 😊
If anyone played path of exile, this game looks like sanctum. Also I find throughout the video that some skill do remind me more of it.

if you have healing on hit effects, attack speed is really really really good actually

Melee Monster/Boss eazy, Caster anything hot so hot. You floored the elites so easily.
Retro sounds drunk if you use 0.5 playback speed; just something to brighten your day
you also get 2 hours of content vs 1
This looks really good even before the refinements suggested.
The creator of this game has to have been inspired by Path of Exile, at least the classes/abilities/stats are clearly in reference

The magic words are here: roguelike autobattler!
have you Tried soda dungeon before? and if so what would you say your best picks for similar games are?
Hmm seems pretty fun, but wish there were cool death animations. That'd be more satisfying.
You should check out Astral Ascent again.
This game is really fun
Pliz bring the game "knock on the coffin lid" ❤
Seems good, a little to stat heavy imo
Anyone know if it works on steam deck?
How often do you find yourself narrating to your audience only to realize you are just playing the game for fun on your own time?
I can't say in my 12 years that I've ever done it haha.
@@Retromation keep up the awesome work! Another game I've added to my wishlist... Not sure if I'll buy this one, but I'm on the market for a new game.
Oo lallaaa came from Corykenshin🤭🤭🙂↕️
why they add a demo that isn't even playable? I can´t even confirm the starting class selection to enter and play, 0/10
where da comments at??
