Hello Hannah, I'm a subscriber since your no-buy year and I really appreciate your content. I'm working in the cosmetics field and I would like to point out that Myristic Acid, Beheinic Acid, Palmitic Acid and Stearic acid don't have exfoliating properties like lactic or glycolic acid. In fact they are fatty acid and help to achieve the desired viscosity and stability of the cream formula. Have a great day :)
"I feel like I've aged ten years this year" Girl me too. I'm 25 and a COVID nurse. I was getting my highlights done last week and my stylist informed that I now have THREE gray hairs. Lovely. When I asked my mom when she started going gray, she said it was around 35. So that's fun.
agree, thank you for your service! I have a head full of grey hairs, all new this year, though it's hard to see at this distance. But I am actually 35, so maybe that's part of it :)
Thank you for your service and I really feel for you that you had a tough time. Wish you all the strength to get through the next month's. Hope it gets better soon
When I get back to the US and get settled, I'm going to get one of those storage bins and collect all my empties during my no-buy year. I need to see how long it takes me to use things so I understand why I don't need to compulsively buy them. I've been getting lizard brain lately looking at Sephora online, it's time for the no-buy year.
I mix one part of castor oil with two parts of almond oil in a small bottle and use it on a wet cotton round to remove my eye and eyebrow makeup. It works great as a remover, it boosts the growth of my lashes and brows and is great for skin arround my eyes. Castor oil gives thickness to the mixture so it doesn't go into my eyes.
If you like scrubs but hate the cost, have you tried Asian Exfoliating Washcloths? The Salux brand on Amazon is one example. They really give that scrub feeling!
I usually just make my own body scrub with regular sugar and oil... You can use coarse kinds of sugar crystals or kinds with finer crystals, and you can make it as scrubby as you want it. Costs pennies!
I think it's also worth noting that your brows probably just enjoy the added moisture of an oil when soap tends to be stripping of the natural oils, so even if soapbrows didn't cause averse effects, any extra care to treat those hairs could do good 😁 I personally make sure to massage my usual skincare into my brows to help keep them in good shape, I tried argan oil and it did nothing for me that my usual moisturizers don't do
Hey Hannah! The BEST body scrub is sugar in oil. I’m sure there are loads of recipes on Pinterest to jazz it up a bit, but pretty much any oil with a brown granular sugar is sooooo good at sloughing off skin. The Sanctuary do a product very much like this x
Woo!! Before I watch - video request: I've been recently watching your no buy year and you mention in one of your videos how you've always had a problem with overspending or shopping or indulging (or what have you) - I was wondering if you could make a video about your problem with spending BEFORE the makeup overspending? I know your spending spree was in part ignited by the US elections and i was wondering what your spending looked like before this and whether this was reacting to something or as a general emotional crutch? I just find it so interesting as I've also only (relatively) recently become passionate about makeup but I've always had a bit of an issue with spending above my means. I'm going through the motions myself and would find it super interesting.
I'll keep this in mind for future discussion! It was mostly clothing and a lot of expensive skincare because of having acne my whole life. I think there's a very good chance that the same thing would have happened after the 2016 elections even if I'd never discovered UA-cam, it just would have maybe been less makeup spending and more spread out over all categories (including homewares). As it was, my new passion for beauty stuff actually caused me to scale back on my spending in other categories during that time...but I more than made up for it at Sephora, LOL
this month i realized Versace cologne/body wash/after shave aren't worth it for me but Nest fragrances are what i dream about, elf face wash is just as good as Origins, and i'm almost done with my glossier cloud paint but want to actually replace it. i didn't think i would. that will be UH birthday treat next year. thank you for helping me be more mindful and assess what truly sparks joy for me by sharing what does for you. (: p.s. i cannot wait to get the Ortiglia soap whence my boy brow joins the empties.
If you are still trying to find something to review for your channel, the Refy brow products sound just up your street, particularly the brow sculpt. That’s sold out at the minute, but they still have kits with it in, would be interested in your take.

I use castor oil as well for my brows and lashes. Be careful with it getting on your eyelids and on the skin under your bottom lashes as it causes milia. I use a clean lash wand to distribute it now on my eyelashes.
@@HannahLouisePoston what helps me get rid of milia is aloe Vera gel (the edible kind- I buy it in bulk 1 gallon size for smoothies) I put some in a cotton round and place it on each eye- like an eye mask for 10 minutes- maybe 2-3 x a week and then it either goes away if it’s small or it shrinks in size if the milia is bigger.
I’m 38, Hannah, so a bit older than you, and I feel like I’ve been aging like a maniac this year, too! 😩 so much so that I bought a nuface (which I love, omg) and I got a curology subscription so that I can get some real tretinoin. The time has come. You look amazing, tho, as usual 😍
Have you ever used DermaE’s vitamin E cream? When I remember to use it regularly I would consider it a game changer for moisture and repair. It leaves the texture of my skin so silky smooth (acne scarring from my awkward childhood) & plump, and she thicc.
Re your probiotic goo -- that formulation is used to maintain potency and is used a lot in high grade supplements that can lose potency easily in other forms. It's weird but wouldn't be as good in pill form.

I had never considered castor oil as an eyebrow product :O or that there would be different grades of it.
