Def one of my foreverfavorite ballads of all time! Every time I've ever seen Boy George/ Culture Club do this song live, the audience is mesmerized...you can hear a pin drop during the break in the middle.
SO glad you mentioned Helen Terry; she was a BIG and BEAUTIFUL lady, and had class and presence and was so important to this Band and this Album in particular this came from. Thanks for sharing.
Boy George did have an amazing voice and this ballad is one of the best. Culture Club's biggest hits that you must also listen to are "Karma Chameleon", "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" and "Time". They were huge in the 80's and their songs never sound old.

This is my all time fav Culture Club track which I played over and over when it came out. The lyrics are so deep, meaningful, and somewhat open to interpretation!
Another song Boy George wrote for his then-lover in the band (drummer Jon Moss). "When you do those things, pull my puppet strings, I've the strangest void for you..." Their on and off relationship was the inspiration for the first three records. "Black Money" is also about Jon Moss...
dang I totally forgot about this bop and it brought back so much love and joy. Thanks to the Patreon for picking it and to Empress for creating the platform for us to (re)visit great tracks.
I love catching up on all your videos after being out of town for a bit! This is one of my FAVORITE songs, I was only 2 when it came out, but I remember it as a toddler. It's so musically rich, and wonderfully haunting. And yes, Helen Terry tore it up!
agree empress , that back up lady is an amazing back up singer her voice come out in 2 other songs that come to my mind right now and on is church of the poisoned mind and mister man , i hope you check them out
Culture Club had some ripper tunes like Do You Really Want to Hurt Me, Church of The Poison Mind, Time (Clock of The Heart), Miss Me Blind, Its a Miracle and Karma Chameleon.
Such a trail blazer and enjoy many songs. My favorite is probably Miss Me Blind. You may wanna check out “The Crying Game,” Empress. It’s a beautiful song. He had left Culture Club by the time he released that one tho. 😊
A very under appreicated Culture Club song. I think when it came out it was on the B-side on a 12", so you'd only know it if you were a CC freak (like I was) and bought all the 12" singes as well as the albums.

This song is such a classic vibe. I will never understand how more people dont do reactions to it. Haunting yet beautiful, sung so sweetly by The Boy.

Great to see a young person enjoy 80's music👍
Boy George got VOCALS. You can his emotions in his vocals. So many fire hits. His voice gets overshadowed by his aesthetics.
Boy George & George Michael both 80's Realness of real artist standing and singing vocally 👐👐💯

Love this. Helen Terry takes it to another level in Culture Club’s’Church of the Poison Mind
It's funny how backing singers didn't get credit in those days.

Stunning song. Congratulations on reacting to it, I haven't seen anyone do this one yet.

What a masterpiece. Really out of time.
I always believed Boy George was used by the band....
