  • The object removal tool in DaVinci Resolve is super powerful and a great tool in a pinch situation! Now, there are some times when it's more difficult for it to process, simply because it's a moving image but with the help of the Magic Mask, it's still possible to get amazing results in a lot of those situations!
    What do you think? Is it a feature you (would) use?

    Brilliant - there is one more scenario - especially with drone footage, where both, the subject and the unwanted object are moving - sometimes in same direction (orbit) sometimes in different directions. I'm struggling with removing my back pack and hiking stick from the footage (yes, I know I should've put it elswhere 😀)

      You'd probably need to track the area then (assuming both of those are on the ground) and since they're static on the ground, it should be possible with something like this or perhaps the patch removal tool 🙌🏻

    Great stuff. 👏🏽👏🏽
    Can I use Magic mask to perform Level1 and Level2 ?

      Thank you! Yeah, you could use the Magic Mask on all the steps if necessary but it requires more work, which is why on Level 1 and 2 I didn't need it as the normal mask did the job just fine!

    Using you technique in Level1 and Level2, how should I go about doing this if I have more than one object to remove?

      Either using Layer Nodes to make multiple object removals or using multiple masks for selection could probably work as well. I haven't tested that out but either of the two depending on the situation would be the way I'd go about it 🙌🏻

    I don't mean this as a critique, I am genuinely interested in why you choose to give yourself so much headroom.

    • @AlexBjorstorp
      @AlexBjorstorp  10 місяців тому

      Are you referring to the talking head parts or the ‘levels’ / outside scenes? Or both perhaps? 😊
      In any case: the talking head is as I’m in a new location and still trying to dial in the best angle, so not necessarily on purpose.
      For the outside shots I just wanted a wide scene and it wasn’t meant for storytelling purposes, so there’s no reason behind this either.
      I haven’t focused on composition in either case, more on the information and purpose of the individual parts 😊
      But now you made me aware of it for the talking head, so I’ll definitely have a look and change it up a bit - because there is a lot of headspace (and was a lot of mess on the ground, so that might have factored in some of it)
