    Engraçado que para aprender um instrumento tipicamente brasileiro eu tenho que assistir um vídeo em inglês. Continue assim, você tem uma didática incrível!

    I will keep the samba alive :D I guess my comment was also meant as a little critque btw. These escolas might play these patterns but these patterns are also basic, like fx the injãu, mocidade and estacio patterns and all the ways to play these patterns - the difference between the pattern for injãu shown in this video and mangueira's injãu. The idea that a single pattern belongs to an escola created some kind of resistance in me - but you are right, the escolas mentioned do play the patterns.

    Thank you for this video and for making me think about how much looser I need to make my playing and maybe focus less on getting the accents super high. My teacher said to me to make my grip much looser and relax but I find it hard... So thanks for this!

    Thanky you, you did not say where the first one comes from,please ?

    I am very confused with the ending of the second example. You seemed to have missed a bit. The first bar is standard; the next two are accented on the 3; but the last bar I cant quite work out. It is not just 2 small notes and a left accent there is something more. I think I also end up with the right hand so it would mean that I have to play the right again to repeat the whole phrase. I am sorry if I have misunderstood what you are doing.

    yeah that's right man !! But it is also the pattern played by those two escolas that I mentioned !! =D !! It seems u've been taught right =D!! Keep the samba alive !!

    I am aware I have confused bars with beats but I think it is obvious what I mean. In one bar there are 4 beats each with 4 x 16 notes which gives the phrase.

    @lunalobohombron 9 років тому +1

    I think I have the rhythm now. The last bar of the second example, the accent is on the 2 and the right is where you start again. 4 bars and their accents: 1R & 4L; 3R; 3R; 2L

      stuart gordon It is a pity that I didn't have the notations at that time. In my later video's I added the notations and a lot people find it much easier. I'm glad you worked it out without the notations.

    • @lunalobohombron
      @lunalobohombron 9 років тому +2

      Michael de Miranda I agree. I found the notations easier. Still I am very new to this but I am sure it will become second nature soon. Your videos are very good and the manner in how you do them. I am sitting on a sunny (unusual) English beach by the sea practising and I couldn't be more happier. Thank you.

    @mdm2230 great videos dude, but the last pattern is from GRES Uniao da Ilha do Governador, I'm from Brasil and i played in quite a few escolas de samba (samba schools) and I'm pretty sure of that =D!! The first pattern u played is from Vila Isabel/Imperio Serrano. keep the good work !!

    The first beat is just the basic samba swing on the caxia with a roll in the end. Or atleast that is how I was taught

    WHEN YOU SAY SAMBA ITS THE SAME AS SAMBA ENREDO? THERE ARE TWO KIND OF SAMBA CORRET? SAMBRE REGGAE AND SAMBA ENREDO

    • @MichaeldeMiranda
      @MichaeldeMiranda  Рік тому

      Well, there are many more sambas then enredo or samba-reggae. But these samba rhythms are used by the sambaschools in Rio.

      Samba rhythms don’t fall in line mathematically unlike those written in European compositional sheet music
