Michael! What a wonderful teacher you are! I’m a 70 year-old drum set instructor, having taught for the last 40 years and I’m so impressed with how clearly and positively you share information. Your kind manner makes it a joy to watch your videos. Please keep up the great work and know that you are making the world a better place!
Hi, Michael. Thank you for all samba percussions rythmns. They have been a great help and I enjoyed learning them. I especially like the timbau because it resembles playing the african djembe, which I also play. I now own a timbau, too. I tried all the timbau samba reggae rythmns and use them in the samba band at the community centre. Thanks again !!
It is funny that you mention it, I've done a lot of video's about samba and a lot about conga's but never a video about samba on conga's! I'll make a video about this subject!
I have a lesson about conga basics for beginners, here I explain how to play a slap. On a timbao it is a little bit different, You play it with your fingertips, but you can bounce of the skin. On a conga you grab the skin with your fingertips. Perhaps you can look at that video and hopefully it will help you, because it is a difficult technic! Good luck!
WoW! Gaaf man, duidelijk, complimenten voor je meesterschap, heel erg bedankt, ik zal nog veel bruikbare info uit je filmpjes halen ! Succes en plezier gewenst met je activiteiten !
I look forward to your video. I can actually learn things from your videos. On the Mienl website there is a great video on samba on 2 and 3 congas but the guy goes so fast I can't pick it up. A good samba tutorial on 2 then 3 congas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Segun
Hi from Brasil. Michel, I would like to say thank you very much for your videos. They are really helping me to teach my students in my city. Please, don't stop. I do not play percussion, but I am learning and you is a very good professor. Congrats!
+Dani Caulfield Hello Dani, nice to meet you and thank you! I am glad you like my video's. I wish you good luck in teaching and I will post more lessons!
It is nice to hear that you can use my lessons. If you have a video on youtube of your samba group, please let me know, so I can see what you are playing!
Margareth Menezes is wonderful. Which of her songs was using this rhythm? I think I will learn the words too. I love combining afro latin rhythm with melody
Hi Michael, thanks for the great videos ! I'm learning the repinique with Bada Uê, France, and we do all the accents with the right hand, as opposed to strictly alternating Right and Left. I'd love to hear your thoughts on both techniques.. Cheers
I love the groove. I'm going to adapt it to my band then I'll send you a recording. For now anyone can check out South London Samba. I'm the guy leading it
