Hey Friends, In todays video I am re-making over my dining room. We got an antique farmhouse table off of facebook marketplace and I take you guys along for the whole refinishing process. From sanding it down, staining it, bleaching it with zinsser wood bleach, sanding it more and every misstep along the way. My husband also shows us how he made a farmhouse bench. I will also be sharing our updated living room space with you and styling up the dining room for the big reveal.

I watched another UA-camr Andrea, from Pine and Prospect redo her hardwood floors that were very red. She finally used a green stain and it counteracted the red in the wood and came out beautiful. Red is on the opposite side of the color wheel and green so apparently they work well together. I'm going to try that when I refinish my table. Your dining room really did turn out beautiful. I know it was alot of hard work but it really paid off.
Yes! I was going to do that as well until I saw the method we finally ended up using. Whatever gets it to the tone of choice! That was going to be our next option haha
I think the new table although just slight longer is a much better fit for the space. The chandelier is perfect. It stinks that the table was so difficult but I think sometimes the struggle is worth leaning into. I’d keep it simply because it represents so much about life.

I love the 2 part Bleaching solution but I run out of it in the middle of the makeover and couldn't find anywhere online. So I had to DIY my own..... I refinished a coffee table that I bought off of craigslist, and it took me forever. I was so exhausted after the project was finished. My garage was a filthy mess, I ruined my nails, my hands, my knees and my back. Every time I looked at the finished product I just remembered how much I hated the whole process. Like you, the finished product was not quite right, even with all my effort. I had no more energy left to work on it. Most of the problem was that I had never refinished anything before in my life and I was very inexperienced. I kept it for about a year and then sold it. The people who bought it loved it. 😆
Yeah, every DIY has its own story. Some times it turns out, sometimes it doesn't! We love doing it. Hopefully the next time will be easier for both you and I. Thanks for watching!

I have a farm like table from Pier 1 Import. It’s over 20 years old. I have finally gotten the nerve to spray paint the chairs black. I also have a black chandelier so I know it will look nice like yours. I think you do need a bigger chandelier though. The scale is off. Also, I can’t believe all the work you did to get the look you wanted for the table. It turned out great. I would have sanded it once and called it a day. LOL!!!! Keep up the good work.
Good lord you’re adorable! Living room looks yummy and inviting and the leather chairs warm it up. The dining area is coming along, really nicely! Play around with maybe adding some kind of anchor piece like a small buffet, or even a library table made similar to the bench to hold a more ambient lamp and instead of the vase, a long narrow rectangular bowl with some kind of spheres in it? Or large pine cones? I love that the grain in the table picks up the cushions on the chairs. well done guys!
