- Hi everyone!! This is a video I was requested to make, and I know I loved watching these sorts of videos when I was applying to college. However, I think it's really important to remember not to compare yourself to who you're watching in ANY video. I can't tell you exactly what colleges are looking for, I can only let you know my own experience. I remember watching ECs videos and sometimes getting really discouraged because I felt like I wasn't fit for the colleges and programs I cared about. But I'm glad I still decided to apply because look where I am now!! Shoot for your goals, and while you may look at this for entertainment or a very limited perspective on the college admissions process, know that whether your application matches up with mine or not, it's worth pursuing what you want :)
This college admissions cycle I was accepted into Brown PLME, Yale, Emory & Oxford College, Rhodes College, Barnard College, Rice University, USC, Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University, Case Western Reserve University, the University of Rochester's REMS program, Bowdoin college, UCF, and UW. Here are my honors and extracurriculars :)

Thank you!!! For most of my colleges, I put Molecular and Cellular Biology as my first choice major and Public Health as my second choice. I'm planning to upload an essays video next, and it should be up in the next week or so!

Could you go over your Brown/PLME essays?
Sorry, I’m trying to understand better the whole admission process because I’m not from the US. When you wrote the time dedicated to each extracurricular activity did you consider exclusively consider the hours of lessons or meetings or also the time that you dedicated privately at practicing pr organising (for example in the part where you talk about you being an oboist are the 4 hr/wk the number of hours you spent with the orchestra or a teacher or are you also considering the number of hours spent at home practising)?
Great question! This depended on each activity, and I think it's pretty flexible. For orchestra, I didn't include the time I spent practicing on my own because I felt that this individual practicing wasn't specific to orchestra (the practicing also related to individual improvement). However, for HOSA, I included the time that I spent planning meetings because I felt that this was very specific to the club.

Yes!! In some countries, such as Canada and China, HOSA is already available. If it's not available in your country yet, you can reach out to a member of their board of directors. Good luck :))
