Totally true. I became very very wealthy, and was immediately tempted to spend it all on myself and buy things that I don't need. The temptation is REAL. Please pray for me that I would be faithful and "hold the rope" like Paul says.
I remember when I got my first job after college and had money for the first time, something that helped me was giving 10% of my paycheck to church and that helped me keep the focus on God.

Just like the other guy said. Save for your dream, which most likely will bless your marriage more. Have a smaller wedding, and whenever you’re blessed with more then have that wedding. If the woman is more obsessed with a wedding than being a wife, then she is NOT a good wife but a liability. Hope we helped you with that advice.
Gods timing is perfect. When the student is ready the teacher will appear. The timing of when I came across Mr. Washer was exactly when I needed washing 🙏🏾✝️ God Moves

I get confused and upset at sermons like this sometimes because i feel like i being shamed for having emotions But i understand what Paul is saying when i watched it in depth. We cant be weak and soft We need to be strong and rely on God I need to improve a lot
Men often have smaller social support circles than woman; often the wife is the main social support. Not everyone has a strong enough relationship with God or for whatever reason feels that empowerment of the Holy Spirit to cope (I recall someone once describing Elijah as 'suicidal,' and Jonah definitely 'had a bad day'). I think you're right...there's a balance. It's one thing to not crush your spouse under your insecurities and worries; it's another to believe you are obligated to maintain a 'chipper' facade till you 'fake it till you make it' or collapse.
Havent watched fully yet, but from what you said Im reminded of David perspective in Psalm. He describes a lot of his emotions in it, and even when experiencing the negatives he would say things like "why are you downcast, o my soul" (Psalm 42 : 5). I do get sometimes the dark emotions really grip you tight, but I think that highlights more how important relationship with God is. Look at the world, how they try to cope with it. Imo without God, nihilism is the only logical perspective in this world, and you would be so negative and depressed with that view. Any worldly purpose is ultimately useless in nihilistic view, so you are either an honest depressed person or dishonest and in delusion of happiness pursuing "purpose". Luckily there is God, and nihilism isnt true as a result and there is actual purpose in our lives 😅
@@richardlang3460 agreed I believe It depends on what our problems are If its really bad we can ask for help by people that are close In no way do i see that as a problem But we should avoid being emotional and weak
I’m retired, worked 47 years in professions that required me to stay on it and stay prepared - the Superior Court system. That work ethic was instilled by my parents. Suit up and show up, carry your load, be on time, save your money. My brothers and I worked at our jobs and didn’t give up when days didn’t go as was hoped. Paid into my retirement accounts and Social Security. That hard work and saving money has paid off for me and my wife. Most of all, we gave to church weekly. Sometimes a small amount and sometimes a large amount. But we always gave.
I disagree. Therapy shouldn’t be looked down upon. Therapy doesn’t mean your weak so you go there rather than develop through hardship, it is there for you to uncover your trauma and bounds so you get to know yourself more. I used to think Christianity is my therapist till I actually went to one. And it did more work than going month and month and feel ashamed of myself that much trauma is not healed because I must not do something right…or pray more. Now I know myself more, I know what I need and what is needed to be done, less distractions to keep my astray. This teaching is too extreme and yet he warns not to be too extreme… Pastor sounds like he lives in a pretty hard life and his fighting that hardship alone and sometimes too afraid to let his family know, he needs a community. It is not “coward” to share your problems with brothers. Brain is apart of our body, so is mental health. You don’t just ask God to heal you when you have cancer or even tooth ache. You go to the doctor/ dentist before it gets worse. In theory, sure God can heal you but is it practical? So is mental health and your brain in that sense. Your brain is your body aka organ that can also affect your mind aka mental health.
Dont convince a woman to try to be Biblical for you. If she is not, she will front for a year or 2 after she has you. And give up trying and faking. Make sure u see the fruit. Not talk. OBSERVE before you think of even starting to get to know her. Catch her being herself. Dates can make it where she just impresses you. See her in her element first. Observe the real her
My now husband said there was someone who said traveling is the perfect test. Go out of your element and do something different. The reaction will say it all. Then again, we didn't do that 😁 We traveled after we got married, and we had a great time! Our first date was a slight fumble, so I guess that went a good way towards how we are. It's almost 12 years now☺️
Powerful teaching. I do see some points that could be issues. 1.) Many people emphasize productivity over 'hard' work. The two tend to go together. That said, some people are better at generating higher productivity with less effort than others (and different jobs vary widely in this). 'Hard for the sake of hard,' in and of itself, is a more difficulty subject. Especially true in a capitalist economy where some can 'put their money to work for them' (e.g.: investments, pension, trust fund, etc...). 2.) The statement '...you're young it will be no problem for you to pull 18 hour days...' Add commute time, shower and 2 meals and how much time for sleep are we talking about? 4 Hours max? Aside from having no non-Sabbath time for family, friends, etc..., it sounds like a recipe for chronic sleep deprivation and possibly a resulting car wreck or breakdown. Lack of sleep can (and does) kill. 3.) Many in America today find 2-income households needful or desirable. I wonder how many of those 'godly girls' lamenting the lack of forward-thinking and investing for the future in potential mates were saving and investing to those ends themselves. 4.) As for 'nice things' and 'wealth.' We tend to want to define those as people having/seeking levels well in excess of ourselves and our acquaintances, who appear to live lavishly and opulently compared to us. Problem - to many people on Earth now, a sizable single family home, air conditioning, t.v., plush recliner, stocked pantry, personal computer with home Internet, smart phones with data plan and 2 cars look very 'nice' and indicate 'wealth.' A person might ask just where one draws the line on lifestyle? Is it the spartan living style associated in the popular mind with a monk? Lower socioeconomic class blue collar laborer in America today? Middle class? People will interpret this teaching in various ways. Someone could come away thinking a man is duty-bound to be a workaholic living a spartan monk lifestyle and a missionary or giving his overhead away for Christian charity, and anything less than that is sin.
Therapy is needed sometimes. Hiding your emotions and not sharing it is the reason why many people are suicidal. I agree with some part of teaching but is a bit too extreme. Telling people to work more and have a more “realistic” goal with money such as saving for a house is a bit ignorant.
Yeah he’s not perfect. But I do agree mostly with what he says. Men are too soft these days. I am too to be honest. But working 18 hour days and suppressing your emotions is not a good idea. Your wife is a believer too who can help carry your burdens like any other believer. Working hard is important but working an 8 hour day and then working hard at home with family is the way to go.
Good sermon. I do agree men are too soft. I find myself in that camp if I’m being honest. We do need to man up and grow up. However, one thing I will say is I do believe it’s okay to share your feelings and struggles with your wife who is a believer. She can help carry some burdens within reason and without sacrificing your leadership and protection of her. And it’s not good to suppress your emotions and struggles and just man up. I think there’s a balance between manning up and also sharing your struggles to receive help when needed. 18 hour days is tough. But I think working 8 hour days and then working hard after work in raising your family. But he’s talking it seems to young men that aren’t married.
I felt emotional about the young women wanting to find men. We've became such a material culture. But I will say this to young Christians, we don't get better by ourselves, love conquers all.
The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear? Proverbs 18: 14 He's addressing the product of this, which yeah, can be funny, but living this Scripture can make you feel desperate, empty, and seeking pleasure. It's like being down real bad. But Jesus has given me purpose in honoring God through His life, His way, and His truth.

Going back into the secular workfield feels like looking back... I've been 6 months without work by now. I was told to get a job. Maybe I go to a Bible College instat.
I don’t disagree with this, I am a talker, far too much of one (see what the Bible says about the tongue), and I process my intense emotions verbally with anyone who will listen. I’m pretty good about people trying to kill me, in fact that feels pretty normal, but failure eats me alive. I get very confused and my relationships struggle. To clarify, I’ve deployed several times, I’ve completed the hardest military training, still live in Coronado, CA. But yeah I needed to hear this. Thanks.
The problem with riches is, you forget easily who blessed you, unless you realize who is your King. After all we’re considered kings, a king is not poor and his riches are supposed to flow onto the herd. We as kings have to give an account to the King of kings and to reverence the Lord of lords. Psalm 23 says ‘the Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want, it doesn’t say ‘I have nothing’ not wanting anything means you have it already. We are a channel not a volt

Isn't the original purpose of the creation of the woman is to be a helper/ help meet? And a companion to the death in God's original plan? What is the benefit or purpose of women to God or man then?
To serve Jesus. Galatians 3:28 I lean on the Old Testament often, so I understand where you're coming from. But keep in mind the New Covenant (New Testament) And we have examples on How Jesus treated women. John 8 and John 4.
Simple, Genesis 1:26-28. Thats the original purpose of human creation. We deviated a lot by Adam and Eve first rebellion of not acknowledging his sin and blaming others, and look at todays most common form of pride. Blaming others 😅 Jesus showed us how a rightful human ought to live, and we serve Jesus to bring His Kingdom here on Earth. There is a personal purpose for each of us, that you would only discover with deeper relationship with God.
One reason is for men to learn more about many parts of the faith. We can learn how Christ loves the church, lean about our own lack of love and about the veil that blinds people from seeing Gods love.
Yeah, I understand now. I used to not get what he was trying to do, but once you see it, it's like Where's Waldo. If you're provoked, you're not whole, if you're unmoved, you rather don't understand, or you understand pretty much completely.
His teaching about therapy is too extreme. It’s not cowardly to talk to your brothers about issues or that you should hide emotions and feelings. It actually makes you a weaker men for you to ignore your feelings and emotions. People need to treat mental health more responsibly like any other body parts.
This actually really spoke to me. I felt the same way. I love the lord and want to follow his ways. But all these church songs, and some of these preachings I hear just sound soft. I don’t feel any masculine energy. I wish I could find a church where they speak like this
Today is different. Man I carried around the suicide and emotional abuse of my mother Feeling damned worthless and couldnt take the love of christ. Even then I had the strength to jump in front of weaker people no matter what happened. I Was always brave. But still emotional needy and unable to raise my relationship to god. God stayed at my side. What washer says makes me fuc&*€× angry. He should have walked in my shoes. Christ teached me compassion.
As for Sign 5: There’s no incentive to save! Not when houses require 2 incomes to afford and when women just want the top 10-20% of men and follow the missionary dating mentality if they are dating one of them.
I’m going to make sure my sons are READY for marriage by their 18th birthday, house, suv/truck, savings account. We will instill hard work and saving money - yearssss before they’re 18.
One thing I don't get is how he says save your money and work. But how can you get a women and buy a house without a large sum of money. One of the biggest reason of divorce is money. How many women are attracted to average earning men it's not the case.
If she truly likes you bro. She won't care about the money. It's important yes but if a woman dumps you because you don't make 6 figures she's not worth it
Hello! I would recommend checking out another of Paul’s video where he talks about Genesis 2:24, sorry I forgot the name. Essentially he talks about this point like the previous comment mentions, it’s not about the money as it’s not very plausible for most people in today’s world to save up that much money. What matters is that men are not dependent on their parents for everything and can make their own decisions. Paul puts a great emphasis on the difference between “men” and “boys”, as I agree that men should most of the time pursue relationships when they’re ready for, or have thought about, marriage than for the fun of it. As for the divorce reason, make sure to pray together and would highly recommend talking to your partner about it before the fact. Hope that helps! God Bless
Don’t marry that type unless you wanna self destruct. Bible tells us not to become unequally yoked with someone. Aka don’t marry a woman for her personality if she wants you for your money. Also the main thing it probably means is not to marry an unbeliever if you have faith. Food for Thought
I’m still not sold on being pathetic for wanting to be wealthy. Unless he means if your reasons are for bad things. I want to be wealthy so me and my family and future generations are good, and to help others.
@@MMaStrongestFighter yes that’s the difference between us and red pill. We have God to talk to as well as brothers in Christ. They only have other men.
you missed the point of all he was saying, he said you can share but be careful not to pour out your whole emotion because you don’t want to be needy like that emotionally leading your family if you have a wife & are married for any amount of time u understand bro
The trouble is that most jobs and positions held in this corrupted world are not Godly. I think that this was all good once but we are in different times now. This is when god gives men over to their sins.
Even the women in the church look for well dressed men who have money. I’ve pulled 17-20 hr days. Leaves no room for anyone or anything else. You need balance. You need to work, dress well, work out, have money, be involved in your church, etc. Those that aren’t doing those things are just boys who are constantly in a woman’s friend zone. There is a channel called the Order of Man. I would like Paul Washer to spend time with them and discuss balance in these areas. Also, note this: women these days (even or especially in the church) are often not worth the effort. There are a lot of men staying single because of the ridiculous expectations placed on them these days. Not everyone will be rich. How many fathers out here have that as an expectation for their future son in laws. So what you end up with are actually bad men who can provide. This usually ends in divorce. Seen it way too many times. Or an evil woman who divorces a man to take all hard earned money and leave him a pauper. Seen it way too many times!
My parents were having a misunderstanding that I wasn’t aware of because I’m in University and all. So my mother and sister decided not to let me know about, keeping me in the dark cuz they didn’t want to stress me more over home issues. Then my father decided to call me after so many days of him ignoring my texts, he just called to complain about whatever happened at home. I became worried and concerned yunno. Then a few days later again after him ignoring my texts and calls, he decided to call me. I just asked him if he resolved the issue with mom, then all the sudden he vexed and was so rude to me. He changed my mood, that I begun to ask myself who has me. He disturbed my peace, cuz now I can’t even study properly. Do I really deserve all this?😔
I would like to ask; I am web developer, I work on my computer all day long. I am not doing hard work? I mean in biblical times it was hands, and now work is becoming more digital. I think this should be addressed for men. How do I serve God as a web developer
What if some of us men don’t want to get married? Some of us just aren’t called to marriage at all by God and are better off single for life. Maybe I misunderstood but it seems that you said that the only true men are those who have a wife and kids.
@@RevanKnight56 He does acknowledge that there are men who are called to not be married. Either way, these principles still apply, whether married or not married. The goal is to be men who represents Christ's Character
Men find the courage to talk about their burdens and emotions and this guy says they sound like girls.... Total misunderstanding of masculinity! God calls men to lead and be a rolemodel, not to be unapproachable and to avoid any weakness. The strongest men I know manage to take off the mask of invulnerability and walk authentically and passionately with God! Its like he preaches just to transform the next generation into his: 1 don´t talk about your emotions or burdens (better hide them) 2 work all day long and save the money to buy a house and dont have any hobbies. I don´t see that as the main points of the bible. When I read the bible, I want to become a man, that is full of faith and trusts in the lord completely. I want to encourage others and love them unconditionally. I want to stop caring about houses or money, because I rather want to store up treasures in heaven. And I want to be close to others and share my faith and therefore also my struggles with them.
I understand why you would say this. When I look at videos like this. I have to remove women completely out the picture because we all know that the world evil ways are initiated by women and men and will continue to be. Most Churches and society do White Knight women though. Trust me though ... I've met women that call other women out just like Paul Walsh does with men.
Paul Washer is incredibly annoying. He's overly emotional and manipulative. He wants to talk about being a man when he always sounds like he's about to cry.
I agree with almost everything he said but buy a house isnt a good idea, only from a investment and a portfolio of houses, not for live in there, he doesnt know about finances so he shouldn't give advice which can lead to people making mistakes. Also saving is useless when money every year has less value, the key is save for a emergency at least 3 monts of salary and invest the other things, or give it to the Lord. You can invest in many things which can increase interests etc.
What if, at the age of just 4 years and 9 months, all around you are hostile and the people who should protect you at that young age are not only of no help, but some of the teachers are as bad as the other abusers? Nobody on your side because they are spineless. No help from family. Every day is an endurance test that you only just manage to keep from committing suicide, but the one thought you do have recurs most of your life and in fact increases as you get older. That recurring thought? is “I wish I’d never been born” a thought that has become part of you since 5 years old. Friends? Yes I have had friends fair-weather friends. Don’t tell me I’m not man enough with your “everyone should be as amazing as me” nonsense. I only got rid of some of that trauma at 50 years old. I stayed alive despite everyone around me being against me or of no help. THAT is as manly as I can expect to be. Anyone fancy themselves strong enough to stand face to face with me and dispute what I’ve said? Now that I’m a Christian and have forgiven the ringleader of my childhood trauma, I am mostly happy and it’s only about a year since I have had very few of those lifelong recurring thoughts which I think are now gone. I do have the ability to help as much as I can, anyone who has gone through or is going through similar experiences so it hasn’t been a complete waste.
It's interesting how preachers tell others to work hard and they take money from others, letting congregations pay to keep up their families. The Lord will use these exact words from second Thessalonians against them.
I always wince when they talk about going to disney world, or their kids going to college, etc. etc. They have argued with themselves that God is rewarding them and through enjoying the material world they can fire themselves up to praise God more on Sundays. Oh but we only take 10%, well just take the poverty line instead and live like everyone else so you can relate and be poor in spirit.
@@8thMusketeer You really need to sit yourself down one day and logically figure out how generalizations work. Yes "not all", but "some" are, therefore the statement holds true. Do you understand what a generalization is? I know you do, but somehow you become emotional and need to speak up "not all", when someone puts a logical statement together.
@@Daiyve I'm not emotional, but it sounds like you are with how condescending you sound. @@8thMusketeer No, when people do not specify "some", the statement is not taken to mean all. The statement is taken to be a generalization. I need to be condescending because you are too old to be getting "triggered" about generalizations. Men are stronger than women. Do I need to say "some"? No, we all have common sense and understand the meaning. Same with the comment that triggered you.
I agree with about 90%, but this idea that being a man means that your not allowed to express your feelings and that your supposed to suppress them it's ridiculous. When did Jesus do that? He was very open with his disciples especially when he was in anguish before his crucifixion. He was vulnerable. There's a whole psalm that describes Jesus agony not just physically, but also internally. And if we read Paul letters we can see that he shares his inner struggles in many occasions and these letters were going to be read to whole churches. So, are men really supposed to suppress their feelings and not talk about them even with their spouse? I don't think so. Let's not forget that 2000 people commit suicide daily and that the number of men doing it DOUBLES the number of females. Meybe it's good to have school counseling about mental health, maybe it's good that men are able to share their pain with trusted people, in particular if that person is your wife. That doesn't make you a wimp or less of a man. It'll help you and other people that go through tough situations cope better with life. Opening up with your wife should also strengthen your bond with her.
Guys I agree with a lot, but he says that someone who gets rich quick with less work by being smart isn’t God honoring and only the dumb dude who works hard is God honoring just because he works harder. Now I do believe that is Christian’s should always be doing something, but to say that a man isn’t honoring God for being smart and doing less work doesn’t sound biblical. There was a parable where 3 man were required to well with what they were given and then men who invested well were praised.
If you analyse his words in the light of his entire sermon, you will not get the idea that he is against the Christian men who work smart. He only wants to underline the idea that men should not be lazy. This is my opinion.
No he says don't be lazy don't let fear consume you. That parable the one that was cast out was afraid and lazy. The one that was rewarded the most who doubled his gain was rewarded for working hard, obviously smart and dedicated to the task. That is the point. Don't be lazy period
@@kenandrieling5885I can only assume noble work is work honoring God but it’s work that doesn’t screw others over or step on others but rather work to help others in some way. This applies to those owning businesses as well
Because when man and woman become as one it is impossible to keep anything including burdens from each other. Dont do what this man is saying it's not scriptural and misunderstands the entire concept of marriage as joining two together as one.
He says your wife was not meant to carry your burdens but she was meant to help. Your wife is not meant to go to work and put up with other people's BS for a meager paycheck just so she can come home and tell you that she doesn't have time or energy for you or the things you're going through. Also while the man is trying to shield his family from his own problems he is teaching his kids a false premise about the world and what to expect. This is unhealthy way to deal with the hardships of life. Jesus didn't hide his hardships from us and he also had help carrying that cross up the hill. This Superman I can take on the world and shield my family from any type of burden bullcrap is what's killing men.
I agree and fall in the middle. In my experience it's better to share the load in a practical sense, but my partner and I have cause each other great pain loading too much emotional Burden on one another. The harsh reality is that when men and women start to moan at each other it just turns one off from the other.

@@TurtleOrTurtel Thanks for the reply. Believe me, I've tried! This is the UK. I've been to many churches and have not been able to find a solid one. They're far away from where a church should be. @jordantheriverman6143 I really have tried! I'm in a mind to travel further afield in needed! What I've experienced is, lots of noise and shows and shouting in one church, female pastors in many. One I tried, (And I'll understand if you find this hard to believe), the words, Sunday worship changed before my eyes to Satan worship. I didn't go in. What I do is I'll go to where there are street preachers and often I'll find these good to be around. I have a Christian brother about 30 miles away and we talk on the phone and occasionally visit. I was regularly in touch with a travelling community of Christian's who would often visit, but that has fallen away. I challenged them about a teaching they encourage within the community, that being masturbation; something I don't easily write here.

Save your money on your wedding. Use it for the marriage.
Not blow it on one event.
😊
Just like the other guy said. Save for your dream, which most likely will bless your marriage more. Have a smaller wedding, and whenever you’re blessed with more then have that wedding. I get confused and upset at sermons like this sometimes because i feel like i being shamed for having emotions
But i understand what Paul is saying when i watched it in depth.
We cant be weak and soft
We need to be strong and rely on God
I need to improve a lot

This is FACTS.We need men who depend on Christ and Christ alone
This teaching is too extreme and yet he warns not to be too extreme…
Pastor sounds like he lives in a pretty hard life and his fighting that hardship alone and sometimes too afraid to let his family know, he needs a community.
And the fact is: If you (as a man) truly follow Christ, you’re more likely to be single in this day and age.
Amen.
I need a Godly woman like that. A woman can make or break a man when he is down
Dont convince a woman to try to be Biblical for you.
It's almost 12 years now☺️
Ezekiel 36:26-27. Amen!

Truth! That's what we Stand for!
Some good points in this surrounded by an equal amount of wild and extreme, unbacked claims
This very much applies to me.
Blaming others 😅
Jesus showed us how a rightful human ought to live, and we serve Jesus to bring His Kingdom here on Earth. There is a personal purpose for each of us, that you would only discover with deeper relationship with God.
One reason is for men to learn more about many parts of the faith. We can learn how Christ loves the church, lean about our own lack of love and about the veil that blinds people from seeing Gods love.
One of the twelve mysteries of God written about in the Bible. Is becoming one in your marriage. Ephesians 5:31-32.
Thanks for the strong and practical advice! Keep it coming!

His teaching about therapy is too extreme. It’s not cowardly to talk to your brothers about issues or that you should hide emotions and feelings. It actually makes you a weaker men for you to ignore your feelings and emotions. People need to treat mental health more responsibly like any other body parts.

God Bless

Should we not have any hobbies?
Hobbies are ok as long as they are not sinful or become idols (like for example becoming addicted to video games and neglecting responsibilities)
@@LongAndWrong Thanks.
So because preachers make money, that makes them hypocrites? Really? And not all preachers are greedy. Paul Washer is one of the good ones.
@@8thMusketeer You really need to sit yourself down one day and logically figure out how generalizations work. Yes "not all", but "some" are, therefore the statement holds true.

@@Daiyve
I'm not emotional, but it sounds like you are with how condescending you sound.
You never specified SOME, making it sound like that was your opinion of ALL preachers, and it seemed like your criticism was directed at Washer. So I just wanted to clear up any confusion. Make sure we're on the same page.
Is that alright with you?
It still must be noble work.
@@kenandrieling5885I can only assume noble work is work honoring God but it’s work that doesn’t screw others over or step on others but rather work to help others in some way. This applies to those owning businesses as well
Yeah a little confusing. He seems to almost say an easy white collar job is unbiblical. Administration is a gift of the spirit.
Wow
Loved hearing this, BUT, I've been divorced many years though she remains a friend. My children are grown up and I have grandchildren. I didn't know God then. What do I do when they think, (or I think that they think), I'm crazy. I have no support..
Get plugged into a men’s group at a solid church. We need brothers to come alongside us. Iron sharpens iron.
@@TurtleOrTurtel Thanks for the reply. Believe me, I've tried! This is the UK. I've been to many churches and have not been able to find a solid one. They're far away from where a church should be. Don't get me wrong, where I am now is where God wants me to be, and I take comfort in that. Thank you.
God wants you to attend a local church in accordance with Hebrews “Do not forsake the gathering together.”
Not sure if you do or not but it is a command of God. No perfect church on earth. Find one who preaches the word line by line, pointing to Christ.
@jordantheriverman6143 I really have tried! I'm in a mind to travel further afield in needed!
What I've experienced is, lots of noise and shows and shouting in one church, female pastors in many. One never mentioned Jesus at all! They spoke of community and buildings. I questioned them and they said that they're wanting to fill seats and people wouldn't come if they preached Jesus Christ.
Youve been told ...(Men telling other men how to be...)
