    Along these lines, I bought replacement clock faces for my 2022 T100 clocks. Ridiculous money. But, I love em. No regrets. Don't like the stock clock faces on bit. Also bought Halcyon retro bar end mirrors. Outrageous money. Love them.

      I have to swap that sun visor between my 2 open face helmets, I'd like to have one for each helmet but at $150 a pop that's not happening.... that's what got me thinking and figured I'd make a video to see what silly purchases others have made.

    What an interesting topic that I look forward to learn from.
    Like all Interceptor650 owners, I too have made multiple modifications. However, unlike many, I swiftly forgot the associated costs. Looking at my collection of boxes of surplus original- and replacement parts, I must've spent thousands! :)
    As an example of no regrets, I bought handlebars with as much pull-back as replacement extended control cables permitted. An even better riding comfort enhancement, were the relocated forward (by about four inches!) footpegs and foot-controls.
    As for general biking gear, I am reminded of my leather jacket that I ordered too big and so, I then tried to shrink it by running it through the washing machine (which kinda worked a bit).
    By the third leather jacket, I had found my size! :)
    I too, looked into Davida's open face helmets, mainly because of their reputation for being relatively quiet. However, that carbon fibre peak is well beyond my level of desire! :)

    • @UncleVoodoo
      @UncleVoodoo  3 місяці тому

      Im not sure what's going on with Davida, the pandemic hit them hard and it looks like they never got production going again. They've got a new helmet on their site but it seems to be a Chinese helmet with their branding on it. I have the Speedster V2&3 but the V4 appears to be cheap junk.

    • @FrokieKlarth-qe3ei
      @FrokieKlarth-qe3ei 3 місяці тому

      Well then, think yourself lucky with your Davida helmets! I think the red one with the chequered centre strip suits your cafe racer really rather well.
      Davida's stock level, as per their website, seems to indicate that they're still experiencing challenges, despite employing Chinese labour.
      I wonder why their V4 should be junk?
      My experience of far eastern products is, that they're manufactured exactly as specified and so, the quality of the end product is a result of everyone involved.
      Example:
      It seems like a lifetime ago now that I bought a new Casio Edifice, advertised at an irresistable price. I hoped that was due to it being offered without it's box or owner's manual.
      What a watch, even the bracelet was of superb quality ! Also, it had the most accurate quartz movement, but, I just couldn't get it to work according to the online manual.
      Turns out, the Chinese made this Edifice but fitted it with a somewhat different movement. :)
      So, I believe that the Chinese are not just clever but very capable!

    • @UncleVoodoo
      @UncleVoodoo  3 місяці тому

      @@FrokieKlarth-qe3ei I’m just going by reviews, people are making comparisons to the V3 and saying they’re not as quiet or well built.
      The Chinese can make quality stuff but their business model nearly always has them making things to a price point, consumers tend to want things cheap so that’s what they usually make. I don’t just dismiss Chinese products, but knowing how they do business means you have to scrutinize contracted products for corner cutting.
      Hedon for example has their helmets made in China but they cost even more than the English made Davidas. I haven’t personally held one but I’d assume they’re having them made to a high standard at that price. The Chinese made Davidas cost $215 where the Hedon starts around $440. This makes me think Davida is cutting some corners with V4 as they most likely need revenue to remain afloat and this is an attempt to get money flowing.

    We pay for a certain look uncle. For some individuals it is a status item like a bmw or a Mercedes.
    The only accessory I needed on the Himalayan was front Viterra 2.0 trail bags. Other than changing the oil, filter, and plug every 3000 miles.
    5th change coming up at 9000 miles. This is all I required but everyone has different needs.
    Great topic, Uncle 👏!

    Went to the Royal Enfield dealer here in Quito, Ecuador. Wanted to purchase the original mirrors for my Continental GT 535...I should have done my homework first. Got the mirrors for 150 USD (By the way Ecuador is awfully expensive in every aspect) Felt great about having the original mirrors. Then, found out that I could have imported them from India (with shipping, handling import fees and taxes) for 54,30 USD.
    Learned one thing. Do not purchase anything from the Royal Enfield dealership in Quito, Ecuador.
    I guess, that is the way it goes.

    that 50 shipping is outrageous.. amazon didnt have that?
    i tend to not return products on amazon mostly due laziness but i got this "disk brake alarm" wire attachment for my new motorcycle, then i realized it doesnt have a disk break.. so maybe that's the most stupid accessory? i kept it knowing I'll have disk break motorcycle someday, I'm already trying to sell the bike cause it's only 109cc and I'm over it. but yeah.. an alarm i can't use.
    The other stupid thing is handlebar mirrors, so it had handlebars without hole, i replaced the handlebars and i like those better and they had a hole for them but I still can't get them on.. so.. mirrors i can't put on too.. the alarm was probably more silly cause it should've been obvious.
    i considered 3d printing glow in the dark objects on my bike since it's bright green but nah lol.

    ok, been thinking about an accessory and i got 1. i bought a brand new Indian motorcycle and didnt like the rear turn signals, i wanted smoked out one, only one company offered a option that would work but it wasnt just the lens, it was switching it over to led, i had to do some wiring to get it to work, well, $170 bucks later i had smoked rear turn signals, and to think i did it on my other bikes for 20 bucks or less.
