Jorge Morel was my Uncle. I loved him and his music. He will always be missed but his music remains a treasure for my family and the world.

I found it! I didn't know that Morel had written this for Russell.

I worked hard on this piece for over 6 months straight like ten years ago I think it was. Three a video of me attempting to sight read it on a sidewalk while busking, but it’s hidden somewhere within like two hours of me playing … lol

Not to draw attention away from the performance (David is amazing as usual) but does anyone know what music stand he is using for his iPad? I’d love to know.

      1. Rethink how to hold your instrument. Using your guitar support, position your instrument so that the neck is angled at approximately 45 degrees. The instrument should be raised high enough that the neck of the guitar passes through your left shoulder and the headstock is at about eye level. You will be able to reach farther this way. Please try it. Use David Russell as your model, he is a good example of what I said here.
      2. Often times, there are clever ways to alleviate stretches by using open strings, moving a chord to a different position, or letting go of notes that do not need to be sustained.
I don't know you, but I believe 100% that you are capable of playing this piece with some clever problem solving and time. Best of luck to you!

A very important part of warming up are stretching exercises on guitar. I didn’t realize how important they were until I started doing them. Use pg 18 in pumping nylon “horizontal character builders”, as a start

    Check out Inon Međugorac...100x better

First of all, music isn’t necessarily a competition…
BUT IF IT WAS and this was the GFA competition:
Inon is fantastic and no doubt an amazing musician, but Maestro Russell (for whom the piece was written) exemplifies phrasing, clarity, separation and distinction between parts, and in general delivers a cleaner and more musical tone and delivery with less string noise. If you close your eyes and listen, this is simply the more musical performance full of intrigue and passion. He ebbs and flows and takes you on a journey. But hey, music is art and we are allowed to like what we want to like. And I am sure if Inon and David were to listen and chat, there would be nothing but good things said and no speak of “well, sorry, hate to break it to you but I play this 100x better” whatever that means
