My mom was married to my dad when she was 13 and my dad was like 30 and that marriage happened infront of everyone in the neighborhood and people and the fact no one did anything to stop it makes me sick Even those days child marriage was a serious criminal offence and even dowry happened in that wedding and How these crimes are happening and no one is doing anything to stop it is just so messed up. My mom never wanted to marry my dad she wanted to study and do a job but because she was married off she couldn't anything of that and now she lives through mine and my sister's dream. I wish one day she can happily live her own life without the thought that she do need anyone in her life and i hope one day she feel that she is enough for herself. That day would be the happiest day in my life

As a girl from rural India.I can confirm that all reasons are absolutely correct. My maa and pa got married in their teenage because of these reasons only.But Luckily my parents never put these societal pressure on me . Surprisingly my grandparents also think I am just a child i don't need to marry now 😊. Although I am 23.

When I was in graduation first year my childhood friend got married at the age of 18 in a wealthy family. Her husband was 9 years older than her. Within a year she had 4 miscarriage because her body was not ready to conceive. Now she is 24 and a mother of 2 years old child but she looks 34. We all friends feel so bad for her because now we all are doing well in our respective fields but she hardly completed her graduation.

My parents were 14 when they got marriage. Papa ki family mein financial problems thi aur mammi bhi aagai aur responsibilities. Papa left studies and started working. Mamma was 16 when she first time got pregnent, dad forcefully aborted his first cause he knew that this will affect mamma 's health but the medicine of abortion caused more trouble and mamma become infertile. Then when she reach 21 they both were ready to have kids, and mamma had 6 months treatment for having me. I think my father is a good man he didn't left amma alone in any situation and they are together. Getting married at young age was not there choice but they fall for each other. They don't support child marriage specially dad, he was like don't get married until you are 25.take a chill pill make your carrier not family.

No matter what culture a girl is from. No matter how old the tradition of arranged marriage is. Every single girl should have the right to choose who she will marry and choose who will touch and procreate with her.
That choice should especially be based on the fact that we all have ONE life to live and enjoy. How can you truly enjoy your life when decisions have been made, even before a girl is born to marry a man who is twice her age, and then be made to sleep with and then raise children whether she wanted to or not? A girl should have a choice on whether she wants to carry a baby for NINE LONG months and should have the choice to bare the PAIN that comes on the day of childbirth and have the choice to sacrifice many hours of sleep carrying for a baby she wanted instead of being burdened by raising a baby that was created after satisfying the selfish needs of the "husband". It's simply unfair!

I'm so happy this video is so detailed. There are other health issues like chronic calcium deficiency,organ prolapse like uterus and rectum, mental issues, bone and joint issues. Economic issues are there..if you have a sick baby and sick body yourself,you must be spending a lot more than a person with healthy body and baby in medicines,in hospital visits ,in hospital stays.

Great video, but you missed one point. It is very common in Rajasthan even now. The families are even educated enough to understand the value of education. But still they often marry two sisters and two brothers together, the elder sister is often 18+ and mature while the younger one is still young, sometimes just 14-15 they do it to save money as 2 of their kids are getting married together which means lesser money spent on marriages.
Some other issues related to CHILD MARRIAGE like CONSANGUINITY MARRIAGES (marriage with close Relatives) and INCEST MARRIAGES (marriage with siblings) are also a point of serious discussion. Because some backward communities still follow these *nonsense practices* as they are not educated enough to avoid it.
We are the young generation of NEW INDIA and if take a StandBy just twice in our lifetime, we together can change this.
If someone wants a healthy discussion about CONSANGUINITY and INCEST MARRIAGES , then REPLY

I completely disagree with her statement that caste system was brought in India by Britishers. It's absolutely false and a historical statement!! The fact is that the roots of caste system in india can be traced back to later vedic period where there is very explicit of description of Varna division (refer to prushsukta)which forms the bedrock of caste system in India. Later on in early medivial period we see proliferation of castes which happened due to emergence of various new occupations which couldn't be accomodated in existing Varna system therefore leading to formation of various caste groups which give rise to hierarchical social structure known as caste system.
This video highlights the difference between culture and history in a great way....many ppl confuse the two and take them as interchangeable which is highly wrong

And I was like " can't you all see , it's wrong". 2 Nd point is inappropriate because I have seen many women's in my college who are from sound family but are married. I think it's because of parents pressures. I personally experienced this. I am describing this:- I went to cafe for admission to college and there I saw a woman of 10 th passed and she also came for inter admission and she was married and till now also o am shocked to see this.
