This video reminds me back in the day, when I was working on a house putting a floor in and they had a blind son. He got down and felt the only joint behind the toilet and wondered why It was uneven. I fixed it
The best basement is a house on a slope so one wall is at ground level with lots of glass. 60/100 amp Sub-Panel for the stove, fridge etc If possible in floor hot water heating as the house is built.
I’ve been needing to finish my basement this is perfect! I can’t wait to see that wall system! My basement is split down the middle with a block wall so it’s only 11 foot wide on the side I want to finish and the thought of losing more space has been making me push off the project. I’ll look into that system!
I look forward to watching your progress on this project. With luck, you won't have to move that toilet. Maybe you could use an Oatey or Jones Stephens offset toilet flange to move the toilet over.
This basement orientation matches mine in north suburban Minneapolis, except I have well room under front steps. I've considered adding an egress window, didn't know about the property line issue. Probably would have to be in back of house as my neighbor's house added a year ago. I still have original furnace, but that changes next spring. Compact gravity unit. 😱 I'm curious, which adds better return, finishing basement or half story upstairs? I was thinking about adding primary bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Been in this 1950 home 31 years.
I don’t live where basements are common. I did notice what appeared to be water stains on the block walls. Besides the foam, are you handling any water intrusion issues? Is there a sump pump? Will the foam keep the walls from sweating? Thanks and I really enjoy how you present your projects.
If the inspector tells you to move the toilet that half inch, wouldn't that be a good excuse to move it more like 4-6 inches so you have room to properly insulate the exterior wall? Also... nice dry space. Lucky homeowner. I don't even see a sump pit but it sure looks dry.
If the inspector does gripe about the toilet could you just remove the drywall and paint the block wall. Then post inspection the homeowner can leave it as is and definitely not install drywall again. lol. Seems it would be easier than busting up the basement floor.
@@donavanshomes So are there any water proofing or sealing required. I see signs of efflorerescnce on the wall bases and possibly from cracks in floor? Not likely to dig up to seal outside foundartion walls below grade.
There is nothing that annoys me more than how the builders and trades destroy basement space. They place the mechanical wherever with no thought for future development. Every home l have had built l have shown the builder where l want all the mechanical placed and the allowed footprint. I also took into consideration where the services came into the home. The whining and crying was always amazing. Oddly they could always achieve it no problem.
Cannot wait to see the end result.🥰
Can't wait to see the progress on this, Donavan!
Thanks
Never ceases to amaze me how often you see the old tile / mastic / drywall shower surround treatment.
Same here can't wait to see the transformation. Loved to see how you work and your video's are great ... keep them coming 👍
More to come!
Nice space, would make a great workshop.

I have nothing to say really, but I appreciate your content, and wish to help with the yt-algorithms.
Thank you

You would to look at both options but probably can get more finished sq ft in the basement

Water intrusion is not a problem with this home
I was wondering the same things...

The homeowner’s providing labour but will they also be filming everything for their UA-cam channel 😂 And do they have a telehandler?
I do miss the equipment

Inspection was fine with it being the floor is already open not a deal if we would have had to move it
Will there be a sump pump in the area? I've notice most to all older homes do not have one.
No sump pump needed
Did you decide on that wall system or did the home owner? Have you used it before? Do you like it?
We talked about it is the first time I have used this product
👋
Moisture is an enemy
It is
