Everyone knows people have been screaming for years for Colt to bring back more of their classic 1911's and revolvers. The 1911 Classic and Black Army are a huge step forward. Hopefully we will see more classic handguns (both pistols and revolvers) in 2020. These 750 guns will be sold out very quickly.
If your looking for quality and willing to pay a little more than spring for the Colt. Ive had the new 70 series stainless Colt 1911. It came in a nice blue Colt box. The gun was really nice for the money I highly recommend them. It was around a $1000 bucks and some think thats too expensive however the next best stainless 1911 in a series 70 that mirrors the Colt in quality is the new Dan Wesson 1911s and they are between $1500 to $2500 bucks. I can vouch for both Colt and Dan Wesson 1911s for excellent quality!
Springfield stainless milspec is also a quality 1911 . But I've got to admit as much as I love Springfield 1911s the pony has class that a Springer doesnt
@@jasonhavers5961 The Springfield Armory MilSpec pistols you mention have gotten leaps and bounds better recently than they used to. They used to suffer from terrible frame to slide fit however from what I heard they are making them all in house in the US now and they are very nice for the money!
After doing some research it appears that Colt as omitted two very important rollmarks. * The rampant colt that should appear between the patent dates and the company name/address on the left side of the slide. *The 'United States Property' rollmark on the left side of the frame closest to the barrel end. In reviewing several videos and photos of 1911s made in 1918, those made back then have the two rollmarks. So why did Colt omit these very important rollmarks?
@@JaRrYCAW It shouldn't be. Until Colt decided not to market or sell AR15s to civilians the Colt SOCOM had Property of US Gov't on the left side or the lower. They sold lots of them because of that.
Colt has to be careful it does not become the Franklin Mint of the firearms industry, meaning pumping out so many "collectibles" that they are not collectible at all. I bought one of the 2,000 1911A1 reproductions made about 15 or 20 years ago and it has the United States Property inscription. Before this run I believe they made 2,000 1911 repros (not A1). Now there is the Black Army. My point is that if they continue to pump out variations on a theme, they're watering down values and screwing the people who bought them.

Theres many manufacturers that would profit from offering the classic, most basic models they had. CZ is about the only one as far as I know who still makes their classic pistol with the CZ75B. Its even their flagship model.
A traditional pistol I would like to see would be a light weight commander. Back in the day, one shot a full sized traditional government for practice and competition and carried a LW Commander. I prefer the traditional style rear sight rather than the Novak.
Im glad to see Colt is sticking to there traditional classic line of firearms. Unlike the many polymer monstrosities on the market all metal classic guns will never go out of style! Im always in the market for nice Colt classic firearms and I know a lot of other people are too. Ive seen Colt quality go up and down in the years and if they continue striving to put out a quality nice product people will buy reason being is the firearms customer these days are not ignorant to bad quality and most people are willing to pay for good quality! All I can say is the new Springfield Mil Spec is hard to beat for the money so the competition is hot and the new SA 1911s have little to zero machine marks cosmetic flaws if you catch my drift.
I picked up the “Black Army” and it is really nice. The no pony doesn’t bother me. But why the A1 grip safety? Wish you would have used the correct one. But it is a super fun blaster.
that's mine exactly..stainless..only 1 checkmate mag with..failure to feed out the box..took to local smith who installed WC trigger for me and "fine tuned" it..now functions properly how i had hoped for..now queen of my collection..however unsure of colt QC nowadays tho .
If Colt is really interested in making money they should offer a basic GI-pattern 1911 or 1911A1 as a regular production item, and sell it for a bargain price. They had the right idea back in 1991 with their M1991A1, but it was a Series 80 and had modern features like tall sights. It also had a huge ugly rollmark on it, and no pony on the slide. Unfortunately Colt doesn't seem interested in making the guns people want, and either make what we don't want or something that is maddeningly close, but not quite there.
Went out yesterday to be the first in my area to have a "1911 M" it's still at the store. To my surprise it has a short trigger and the frame is 1911 still, as it should be, and not cut with finger grooves. Next the grips aren't walnut, they are some orange looking something. What does it take to get a "1911 M" that looks like the picture advertised? I didn't even hold it long enough check out anything else. Sure not paying a $1000.00 for a bunch of mix mingled parts with a black finish.
The grips are walnut but it's a bright walnut with a coating. The trigger was initially a long trigger but they changed it halfway through production to a short trigger after customer feedback.

Just a speculation. He states they showed up at shot show with one of new classics before production release and it didn't have the pony and people gave them grief about it. @@grayrider1865 yes, it does. I got a first year m1911 with the circle pony and a 1917 with a pony in the rear, I got a early 1918 with the pony in the rear. Then middle to the end of the 1918 year it moved to the middle, or center the slide. So I'm thinking them not putting the pony on this one is because it would hold true to a "retro" theme. Which they should of known people want the pony. Retro or not. It's not a faithful copy so I guess they thought screw it. It don't bother me now. I still got mine.

These Colt pistols are nice and my biggest compliment about them is they all function outstanding with no failures! However my only complaint is cosmetic with lots of tooling marks in the inside of the slide assembly. Theres an overabundant amount of chatter marks thats a bit unacceptable. Something should be done about that especially when my Tisas Turkish 1911 is so clean and well built dare I say the Turkish pistols look better?? That shouldnt be the case in my opinion especially when the Colt is $1000 and the Tisas is $350 bucks. Other than that the Colts are an outstanding investment.
I recently brought a Delta Elite and it only came with one magazine it should come with two. I have tried to call customer support but they do not answer
My last 4 Colts have been horrible..... I sold them off...... I really want to try the brand again, but I have my doubts. I grew up shooting Colts........ it has been a sad 25 years of Colt products.....

I also wonder why they dont make an exact replica of the pre war models along with the A1s and produce them in volumes. People would be crawling over each other to buy these. I guess they just dont want to make money.
