- Bullet Train! Another one I missed from 2022 and I'm glad I did it now. And now with the Shōgun trailer coming out? Perfect timing to give Hiroyuki Sanada a little extra love. Here's everything right with Bullet Train!

Next time I'll say I'm 113 so that no one walks away thinking I'm actually 57. I'm in my 30s with a voice in the 20s and a spirit in the teens! (Humor of an 8yo)
I was so confused when you said that
Yeah I was gonna say. No way you are 57.
Lol, you had me for a sec. I actually had to replay it to make sure I heard it right 😂
was legit about to comment how in the world are u 57 it doesnt add up u seem too young
I knew it! Hahaha you took me for a ride there man! Love your videos, keep 'em coming! 😁
I absolutely adored Wolf's entire dramatic backstory montage only for him to get bodied minutes after boarding the train. It's great black comedy and easily my favorite sequence in the movie.
"You stabbed me?!?"
When I saw the movie I literally said "thanks for coming Bunny, checks on the table"
This sentence is 1000000% fact
lol didn’t expect that
Agreed but it also made the plot a bit too confusing. This movie had one or two characters too many imho
A detail I always loved in this movie is that both of the twins reacted to their brothers’ death as the personality of that dead brother. Tangerine, normally the brash and louder one, quietly tears up at Lemon’s “death” and Lemon, the quiet and contemplative one, lets out a primal scream when he sees Tangerine’s death. It was almost like they were honoring the other with their last moments together
Wow, i never notice that
When people lose a loved one they often acquire a lot of their traits in an effort to keep them alive, like in God of War:Ragnarok when Brok dies, Sindri takes off his gloves, he curses, and he fights with Broks sword
Aw this comment almost made me cry
I love the fact that in the past we got Brad Pitt in a quick cameo for Dead Pool 2, and in this one we get Ryan Reynolds in the brief cameo role.
Definitely intentional 😎
and it's a role made for Reynolds. the asshole who screws everyone up😂
Paying it forward
I'm still dumbfounded this movie only got a 54% critic rating on RT, this was one of the most fun action thrillers I've seen in a while who's pacing on top of it all felt as tightly brisk as its titular setting!
They probably can't have two thoughts on a movie and so chose the "Its stupid" one.
Where yes it kind of is stupid and ridiculous, but it's also so much FUN.
The only rating that matters on RT is the audience score.
@@bubsyfinnigan4462 Yeah except when they trash the movie because "iTs So WoKe!!!". Then the audience score is bullshit.
To be fair, most critics seemed to have problems primarily with the story, which, to be honest, wasn't the most creative and is a bit cluttered with plot points at times compared to other, more streamlined stylized action films like John Wick or Kill Bill. It's a bit cliche and thematically rather light, but it's a functional narrative vehicle for the fun and engaging action scenes and performances, which are really the major highlights here, and the fact that the plot manages to keep track of so many characters all at once is not too shabby. It was a box office hit nonetheless, so it found it definitely found its audience.
@bubsyfinnigan4462 giving movies scores at all is stupid anyway
This movie is fantastic. Why it flew under the radar and got low scores is beyond me.
I think part of it is that a lot of stylized action movies have been coming out in the last couple of years, and most of them have been pretty good. So the "wow, a cool stylized action movie"-effect had less of an impact on people compared to if it had been released 5 years ago.
@fendelphi bunch of Diesels if you ask me
yea saw the add when the movie released was like cool might see it. but never got to it then allot later saw it on netflix. glad i saw it
Because it wasn't a sequel and they didn't pay to give it a good score like every other movie
I will never understand people complaining about the lack of original movies but when an original movie comes out, it underperforms
I’m a Thomas fan, so the references to the show are one of the many things I love about this movie.
Hell yeah mate
Same here!
Yep. One of the things where I definitely didn’t expect it but I like it more because of that.
Profile picture and username checks out
I lost it at the moment Lemon called Logan Lerman’s character a ‘Percy’. Mainly because that line felt like a dig at Logan Lerman playing Percy Jackson.
One of the funniest movies i've ever watched, 10/10 ✨️
Quelle coïncidence bah maintenant je vais revoir toute tes vidéos
was in my top 5 of 2022
I agree. I only heard about it today and I laughed and I laughed so much I cried.
At one point Ladybug says "He pops up everywhere" in reference to the ticket collector played by Masi Oka, who played the teleporting Hiro in Heroes. Such a great movie to rewatch and catch the little things.
THANK YOU! Someone else recognized him other than me!
The time traveller!
Rare heroes reference. I loved that show.
I remember him as Max from Hawaii Five-0.
This movie really flew under the radar, it’s one of my favs
Did it fly under the radar? I thought it was a big hit
@@FrequentUser99at the time it released it wasn’t as talked about in the way we talk about it now, I don’t think.
@@Grizzbitit made 240 million dollar on a 90 million dollar budget. That’s a very good success.
@@FrequentUser99i was raving about this movie to my friends for days but every single one of them was like eh it looks terrible. Yea it flew under the radar
18:18 As a swordsmanship trainee and fellow Hiroyuki Sanada fan, I'd say that the Elder's sword would probably be classified as a shikomizue, a cane sword. Similar to a shirasaya but disguised as a cane, often with thinner blades than a classic katana, which the Elder's sword seems to have too
Wow okay I've finally realized that the sword was inside the cane. The entire movie I expected that but because the tsuka wasn't the handle of the cane (the bird) I thought he had hidden the sword somewhere else. I just watched it back and realized that the sword is drawn from the bottom of the cane. Somehow I missed that.
And he uses it properly too! Requiring backwards use when in enclosed spaces which is the least optimal space to use it in. Awesome detail!
@@CinemaWins You catch so so much stuff in your reviews and somehow you miss that it was a cane sword? I find that hilarious, and great review like always.
@@agentc7020we all make an oopsie whoopsie from time to time, right?
@@fancyslayer99 Using it reverse-grip is nearly strictly a 'rule of cool' thing, the biomechanichs of a human body functions far better holding it normally. So no, he's NOT using it properly. He could've done the exact same swings and cuts but with _more_ power, because he still has ample room for his arm and by simply not eggregiously overswinging he'd have easily avoided the walls. If he's so restrained that he can't even put his arm out to the side then sure, then reverse grip is slightly less bad, but that's not the case here.
"Hiroyuki Sanada is always a win" is a new standard quote for this channel
Also giving out a japanese sword lecture amidst all the action is an unexpected yet welcome surprise
I always recommend this one to people that might have missed it. There's not a single wasted scene and it rewards you for paying attention. Excellent cast, entertaining fights, fantastic dialogue, fun soundtrack... Great movie.
Gun Win that you missed, Joey King's handgun is a TT-33 (aka Tokarev) a relatively uncommon Russian handgun. So we got a bit of a hint about her true origin pretty early on.
Slight correction because I’m a gun nerd (and I also looked at IMFDB), it’s actually a Yugoslav M57A.
One really fun detail is how each of the assassins on the train get killed by their own weapons. Wolf's knife, Hornet's poison, and Tangerine's gun. Technically not his own, but the White Death does end up dying to the gun he was using and, a lot more abstract than the others, the Prince did use Lemon at one point to dispose of Yuichi, and he ended up killing her as well.
That adds a whole new perspective on Ladybug not bringing a gun!
I also love that The Wolf got stabbed in the exact place he tried to stab Ladybug
One small thing you missed: When the bullet train jumps the tracks, a version of the Thomas the Tank Engine theme plays. I watched that show to death when I was a girl, so I noticed lol.
57?! It’s not old but in my head you’ve just been perpetually 30. You have a REALLY youthful energy that is truly infectious and it’s been amazing to experience over the years.
I know, right?
I was totally caught off surprise when he said that!
Read the now pinned comment, he's in his 30s. I really believed it too before i read the comment.
ikr! everytime he mentions his kid i’m like “damn, pretty early start but good for him! his kid must be SUPER young”
I'm not even joking when I tell you that this movie instantly became one of my favorite movies of all time. The acting, the pacing, the action, the comedy, all the characters whose story lines intersect so beautifully. This movie deserved more than it got. I'm not even saying it's all that original. It's just a damn good time, even on multiple re-watches.
Bullet train is now one of my favorite movies. It gets so many things right, and it's ridiculously fun. I. Love. This. Movie.
I remember coming into this movie thinking it would be okay-average, but as soon as the Japanese 'Staying Alive' came on I was in the grove for it, and the movie just never fell from that point. A really good cast of characters, great pacing, horrifically good action and comedy, and a weird amount of Chekhov's Guns that go off weirdly (All the Boomslang ended up actually doing was getting Ladybug out of the way so the Elder could scare off the Prince).
Yes! Ive been waiting for this one! This movie was so much fun and honestly way more entertaining than i thought it would be
I've been asking for it since it came out the theater. Almost on every video
I went to go see this with some friends on a whim because I want to see more trains in movies, and it very quickly became a favorite. The fact it interweaves all the assassin's stories and together so elegantly and injects flat-out hilarity into some of its scenes makes the movie. And you're absolutely right, not a single actor misses, it's just cooking all the way through.
Bullet Train has the 80's "Just made for pure entertainment" that modern movies miss. At no point in this movie did I feel like I was being sold anything or preached to, I just had a lot of fun.
One moment I love is when the White Death comes face to face with the Elder and honestly seems happy to see him, like they’re old friends rather than enemies.
Bullet train is a fun movie. I liked it more then expected. Pitt is such a veteran and has so much range as an actor. Yay I’m excited for the blade 2 video next week can’t wait!
This is 100% my favorite movie I’ve seen this year! I’m not a big Brad Pitt fan so I went in thinking ‘this looks kinda interesting but who knows’ and it blew me out of the freaking water! Obviously Tangerine and Lemon are the best part but everything about this film just works! Every actor is perfectly chosen, every scene is shot perfectly, and everything just works together so freaking well! I’ve been bugging my friends with how much I talk about it but I can’t help it it’s just such an amazing film!
Honestly, Bullet Train reminded me quite a lot of some of Guy Ritchie's best films just with 100% added action and stunt work.
This move is just put together so tightly and it oozes style. Its definitely one of the most fun movies in years.
I don't like how you skipped to appreciate Tangerine's Sigma Walk
It wasn’t groundbreaking, but it didn’t miss a single beat, it was visually beautiful, and it delivered a unique flavor. It was delightful.
i love this movie, i was not expecting it to be nearly as good as it was
I always still have these requests:
1. The Lost World: Jurassic Park
2. Jurassic Park III
3. Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
4. Shrek (2001)
But I understand that you must be bracing yourself for making EGA Barbie, Oppenheimer, Mission: Impossible 7.
The outtakes for this film are also great, especially for the scene in the quiet section of the train 🤣
Yes! Brad cracking up at the hushing lady's improv(?). Honestly that video made me wonder how much if the banter was scripted and how much was improv.
I love movies like this one, The Man from Uncle and The Nice Guys, they all have a similar beat to them and are generally fun action movies.
Ridiculous coincidence but i just finished the book literally yesterday and was looking for the ega and eww for the movie. I was honestly surprised you hadn't done this one yet but i was responded to in 12 hours.
I was sort of surprised by the huge changes from the book to the movie(or vice versa, im not actually sure which came first) but they have masterfully carried over the tone and bloodiness from the og version. The situational comedy and just the theme of bad luck throughout was just *mwah*.
Of all movies to have a ridiculous coindicende regarding, this is a great one.
I love how everyone agrees that Tang. And Lemon deserve their own prequel film.
I love how the 87th win was the scene where Ladybug unlocks the case with the code 087
I'd just like to say that CininaWins is always a win. When I came across your channel I guess a few years ago, I was really dismayed at the huge trend toward negativity among review and discussion and I don't know if the other channel that rhymes with yours came before or after yours, but you were exactly what I was looking for. You and Mikey Neumann have both brought me so much joy and I thank you so much for what you do. 🙏
same! I use to watch sins videos all the time, till cinemawins came up on my page. Now I cant watch sins videos at all. its just not fun or funny to me. but I am on pins and needles waiting for the EGA video. and if he does a movie I haven't seen yet, you can guarantee by the end of that weekend I've seen the move and his video.
A huge Thomas The Tank Engine fan here and I gotta say I loved this film! Watched it in cinemas and was a great experience haha! Great vid bro
Bullet Train was my favorite movie of 2022, and I love so much how there's basically no Red Herring and it's all Chekov's Gun!! Just a ton of fun with the snappy, witty dialogue, and very nice action scenes!
I saw this movie with my wife, we just wanted to give it a try, the cast appealed, and we ended up loving it the whole way through. Then a week later I hyped it up to my friends, and we went to see it as a group, and they all loved it too. I recommend this film to everyone. ATJ is also dumb hot in this.
really glad this finally came out!
2 things I noticed that you didnt mention are, that you can actually see how Lemon sticks the 'Diesel' sticker on to The Princes back, as he becomes uncontious from the sleeping powder in the water bottle.
And also how during 'the ol' Punch and Judy' Tangerine lights a Cigarettes, but throws it away right after, because there is a 'no smoking' sign in the background.
Thank you again, it truely was worth the wait. You again showed me stuff I missed and gave me new reasons to love this movie.
It felt like a edger wright flim I absolutely loved this movie a perfect blend of action comedy and brutality
After the abundance of MCU movies I’ve watched, this was such a great breath of fresh air. This movie is so beautiful.
I absolutely love when movies use both great original score and real/recognizable songs. Both have incredible effect on a scene and the viewers connection to it, but in different ways and using them in juxtaposition works so well especially here
I love characters that are just extremely lucky
They find themselves in the worst scenarios and always find themselves stumbling out
It’s amazing
Oh man am I glad to see you talk about this film. Definitely my favorite in the past few years. The writing, the acting, the directing, the AESTHETIC???? It's so good!
I was so glad when it came to Netflix, because I remember watching it non-stop for a good while. 😂❤
I'd also recommend the book, it's one of my all-time favorites from a phenomenal author (fun fact, there is a series of books taking place in the same universe, all written by said author).
Very different from the movie, but both are great.
Got to see this in theaters and my Uncle and I were the only ones in there. Made for a really unique experience and I couldn’t believe the theater was empty by the end since it was a half off day and it was a damn good movie that had only been out for a week. They played a trailer for Smile before it where the chicks head falls over in front of the window and it got my Uncle and I to both jump hard asl and then laugh about it 😂 We jumped when the snake bit him too
Im not normally an action fan and yet this is one of my favourite movies over the past few years because it just felt so fresh.
I'm so grateful you did this movie. My mom has been showing me R-Rated movies to bring me up to speed with culture now that I'm an adult. She showed me this one and it immediately became my favorite movie of all time! The scene in The Princess Bride where Montoya and Wesley fight, where beforehand, they have a genuine moment to respect each other is one of my favorite feelings in any story, and this movie is full of that! I love that every plot line is expertly planned out, and that Lemon and Tangerine are so dangerously likable that they threaten to steal the show at every turn! Really hoping they make a spinoff with them!
the tangerine and lemond spinoff should be called
''Lemon and Tangerine''
tagline: ''like the fruit?''
I loved Bullet Train so much, one of my favorites of all time. The humor, action and characters just mixes so well
This movie was an absolute hidden gem for me. I went in expecting nothing and I LOVE IT!
honestly this movie is legit one of my newest favorites, like I've never seen a movie so well tied together where every single detail is important and gets called back, every character is intensely likeable and iconic, and all tied up in a pretty picture for a nice bow on top!
Super late but here’s a fun thing that I noticed-
When the Prince first meets Yuichi and calls her associate to threaten him, you can see the woman who kills said associate walk by the window and glare at him. It’s super subtle and fast, buts it’s already a good key-in that the Elder already has eyes watching over his grandson
The ‘CinemaSins’ video by Jeremy about this movie is obnoxious bullshit as usual, so it’s great that the chad CinemaWins channel is finally covering this lovely movie.
This movie was my favourite cinema experience, me and my mates went and had an absolute blast, the story, action and the comedy were top notch
I'm a big fan of this novel(yes, it is based on a japanese novel 'Maria Beetle'). So I was rly worried at first about this movie. I worried that movie would erase every charm of the novel. But when the movie came out, i love it. It has the subtle detail from novel and deliver the humor. It's a well adaptation as an action movie.
But still i recommend the novel. The author is rly good at weaving seperate character into a whole fine story.
I interpreted the White Death's Russian Roulette flair to be something different than establishing him as a psycho unafraid to die. If he always puts the bullet in the same chamber, and it's *his gun*, he conceivably could have either practiced the trick before hand to know when to start and stop on his arm to put the bullet where he wants it, or he could have counted the clicks as he rolls the cylinder. It's all for show, a way to make it look like something is up to the whims of fate while he rigs the game, tying in to the movie's themes of chance and coincidence.
I love that the coolest snake name, boomslang, is just dutch for tree snake
Not just Dutch, Afrikaans too
This was definitely a fun film! I loved everyone’s characters their back stories, interactions with each other and the music! 😂
Ladybug turning the briefcase lock to 087being the 87th win on the win counter was pretty satisfying.
This is a movie that I love to watch just for the characters.. watched it on a whim and then 3 more times in the same month lol. I'll definitely re-watch it every few years.
I have been waiting FOREVER for someone to sing the praises of this movie!
This movie is shit tbh
Such a fun action flick and Lemon And Tangerine. Will love to see a prequel film with them.
Watched this movie on the plane and I LOVED it! It's so fun and light hearted for an action movie, we need more movies like this!
I went to watch this movie randomly in october 2022 and it was mind blowing. It was so fun from begging to the end
This is one of my all time favourite movies and I’m so happy to see you doing a video on it!
This movie is easily one of the best of 2022 and its a great ensemble cast and despite the plot holes it remains one of the most enjoyable and fun comedies ever while having some really emotional beats at times
This movie was just so good like literal top 10 material, every actor played to perfection and I loved the casting
Yes I’ve been waiting for this for so long, this was easily the most fun I’ve had with a movie in years.
I LOVE this movie!! I actually gasped and squealed when I saw this come up on my timeline. It’s my second favourite film set on a train and easily in my top 5 movies of all time.
The thing I love most about the movie is the people talking to eachother while fighting eachother. It’s so casual and it MAKES SENSE!
Such a terrific film! I didn't realize who his handler was for far too long!!!
I think this movie is so under-rated. It does not get the attention it deserves. I had so much fun in the theater with the awesome sets and colors, the great pacing, the fantastically weaved together stories, and even with the extreme violence it was fun and funny
This really reminded me of Sammo Hung's "Shanghai Express". All these different people with different intentions on the same train.
Bullet train is one of the best movies ever and I will never get why more people have not seen it.
This was my favourite new movie from the last few years so it’s great to see some recognition, definitely deserved a bit more attention
This movie is genuinely one of my favourite movies now, I remember watching it and started geeking out about how the movie was like if Edgar Wright made an American Action Movie. One of my favourite details of the game is how the movie subtly shows how the Prince, the Son and the White Death are connected cause they all have Orthodox Cross tattoos, the Prince on her Wrist, the Son on his face and the White death on his back. The amount of details in this movie is genuinely one of the best I've seen that it more than warrants hundred of rewatches
Love this movie! Also, David Leitch directed “Atomic Blonde”, another of my all-time favorites.
I got lucky and saw a great trailer for this movie when seeing another movie and so glad I went to see it. Went from a random seems like a good movie to being in my top 3 movies of the year
I saw 100 new films last year and this took my #2 spot on my favorites. Glad more people are talking about it now because I didn’t understand the mediocre scores from critics.
Awesome!
Two questions, out of curiosity:
1. What film took your number one spot last year.
2. Did you also watch Everything, Everywhere, All at Once last year? If so, where did that place?
@@MagikanVearlae
1 My personal favorite of the year was Death on the Nile. Im a big fan of whodunnits and I love the old-fashioned style with the sleek modern filmmaking. Other ones near the top were Puss in Boots 2, The Bad Guys, Vengeance, and See How They Run
2. Oh you just assume it made my list? Lol jk I gave it the 10 spot. My feelings are polarized with that film. I was enjoying the film until the last 30-40 minutes where I felt it dragged SO slowly and repetitively and that really dampened my overall score of it. Trust me, I really was like “Movie, why can’t you just let me love you like I want to?!” The overwhelming praise for it kinda made me dig in my heals in on that. BUT, I can’t deny the amazing filmmaking, and how it somehow managed to pull off being a genre free-for-all. For that I put it at my #10.
Small correction at 12:38
There are actually 4 versions of the song. Tangerine and Lemon as kids are watching West Ham on the TV, winning a match against Chelsea FC, and 'Im forever blowing bubbles' can be heard from the fans
At 3:00, with my first viewing, i though he was just mocking, but the fact its specifically the Ringo Starr voice makes is so perfect
I really enjoyed the heck out of this film when I saw it. Super Glad to see you do a video on it.
This movie exceeded my expectations 🚅 I had a blast.
I would love a Lemon and Tangerine 🍊🥭 prequel.
Let's make it happen Hollywood! 🎬
There has never been a movie that's entered my top 10 movie list faster than this did. I took one step out of the theatre after and immediately just thought "this was one of the greatest movies ive ever seen". Ended up watching it again like a week later. Such a good movie
YES!!!! JUST YES!!!!
I love this movie so much
To me it's the perfect action comedy (at least to my taste,)
I love bullet train. It's so good. The book is great as well.
Bullet train is my favorite movie. I’ve been waiting for you to make this.
So much fun with this movie, very Guy Ritchie esque, amazing cast, amazing music, and yes I would be 110% down for a Lemon and Tangerine spinoff
YOU'RE 57!?!?
I think the most shocking part of this video is that you're 57.
if you have anything resembling a 'me and bro:' type friendship with anyone it is imperative that you watch this movie with that person as soon as possible because the Lemon and Tangerine moments are just that iconic
I can’t wait for this to become a classic
Already one of the best movies of 2022. Along with Top Gun: Maverick.
You are NOT 57...
Bullet train, on my first watch, instantly shot itself into my all-time top 5. Everything about this movie seems almost perfectly tuned to be exactly what I would want out of a movie. Absolutely amazing film.
EGA MIB trilogy would be pretty cool but also you missed the moment where Tangerine finds the diesel. Best scene in the movie. Lemon never bleeds
Week 4? 5? of suggesting Blue Beetle as I think it is highly underrated and perfect for this channel! Plus... I just wanna see someone, anyone, talk about that movie.
