I think this is the first video were I realised this mod was a thing, so thanks Tony for the info.
Tony's video shows the mod on the underside of the board, where as Mark and my own were done top side. So you have options :)

I did not know it was that easy to comp mod the elk. Wow.
I’ve been using RGB to scart on ours which is nice but always good to have another option.

I use RGB to scart on my spectrum +3 and Amigas and the quality is stunning. Funny how back on the day we mostly used RF and now we want everything crystal clear lol. Thanks for the kind words too mate. Appreciated.

I got into Galaxian and Galaga via Ridge Racer. I now pretty much use my Evercade handheld exclusively for Galaga.
Can’t say I’m much use at it though.
See, hardware repairs can be fun. 🙂

I think re the failure, the ZX Spectrum was the "must have" for kids wanting to play games, and the full BBC Micro for the more serious users (or parents). The Elk also failed to hit a christmas deadline (or such is the legend), and I think they stuffed up the contract with the shops or something, so the shops could return them if unsold. There's legend of warehouses full of them unsold. Which is why fine examples are not hard to come by even now. Even used ones are pretty robust. Great little baby Beeb imho.
