I am a Porsche 911 owner and collector and I choose to drive a Mk8 GTI as my daily driver. My last daily was a BMW M2C but in reality, the GTI is a far better daily performance car. It flys under the radar and handles razor sharp. Build quality might even be better in my 2024 GTI S than my 2020 M2C. Absolutely no rattling or creeks even in cold weather. The GTI feels so solid and well put together. I have other full size luxury vehicles from BMW in my collection but the DNA in this little GTI takes me back to my earlier air cooled 911 in it’s a drivers car that is pure German simplicity and oozes its German DNA. It doesn’t have vulgar silly wings in add-ons as other cars in the hot hatch category. It just works. Our last few Audi models from a RS3, S4, RS4, were nice but too heavy and rather expensive with annoying tech and mechanical issues always visiting the dealer. AWD might be faster off the line but heavy and less fun in general. The GTI climate control will freeze you out with its air AC and quickly heat up in winter. Set the GTI climate to auto and forget about it in all 4 seasons. Lastly, the GTi is a pure drivers car so once set up you don’t fiddle with the controls short of drive mode “Sport” or “individual”. That is the beauty of the GTI as it doesn’t need to be constantly adjusted like my BMW or Audis. It does what it does better than anything else in its class.
Fr. I felt like such an idiot. I was so pissed off vw did the capacitive touch thing. But when i actually test drove one i was pleasantly surprised at how nice the "buttons" actually were
Nice video! As a '24 GTI S owner I totally agree in that the infotainment and touch capacitive buttons are unnecessarily hated. They've been nothing short of super responsive and easy to use.
I think it’s because when this model came out originally the software was shit and not updated so the infotainment was a little slow and unresponsive at first, but I agree the capacitive buttons have never been an issue for me.
The best review of this car. I comply agree regarding the buttons ( haptic ) I have found them absolutely fine and they look great. I can’t help think other reviewers have to make the same negative points as the ones before them to look credible. Again ,very refreshing review, truly independent . Thankyou. 😊
Just got a golf R DSG, and honestly the infotainment system isn't all that bad as people say.. first 2 days of driving it definitely was kinda weird cuz it literally have no buttons and switches, however once you kinda get use to how things work and the short cuts then its actually quite easy. The "touch" controls on the steering wheel you actually have to press it, when I drive I tend to grab the wheel with one hand and the other will be resting on the side with my palm ontop of the touch controls, never set anything off, so I can assume its the same for the GTI.. However I just hate how I have to go into the system everytime to off the auto engine on/off, and these sound systems are...not the best I leave it at that lol ... literally other then that everything is great..
Most - though not all - car reviewers have been pretty terrible. Among other things, they obviously don’t spend any time at all understanding the infotainment system - especially the short cuts. Anyway, I love my 2023 GTI.
As good as my GLI AUTOBAHNS were, yes two of them, I find the GTI manual far superior in many ways. Nice video. Got tired of waiting for the Elantra N.
'15 gti owner..sucks they are dropping the manual. I kinda judge quality of a car by how well the door handle feels. I find there is a ton of wiggle to the handles of the new gti's when you pull them out.
Sound system is one of the worst I've had in a car 24 gti autobahn The buttons are awful for a sport hatch. Hit the turns and then hit the buttons lol Neat car with cool features and Easter eggs but man Id rather have more rowdy and power for the price.
I love the mk8 styling. I’m kinda sad about the new grill that looks pasted on for the mk8.5. Also the over sized screen. So, you did good getting the 2024
Great review, have owned mk2,5,6,7,8 GTI golfs. Put getting a Mk 8 off until this year also, first drive surprised me - it was very quick , handled great too - cheers from Brisbane
You’re off about one thing. It doesn’t pull hard all the way to redline. That is not true. You can actually feel the power dipping at 5k revs and it doesn’t pull as hard after 5k revs.
That makes sense considering its main advantage over its little but stronger brother (golf R) is its punchy midrange which makes it easier to use its power around the city. The powerband is between 3k and 5k

You're right on about the buttons. I have a 2023 GTI and was like "Hey you have to press these" So other car reviewers are full of BS. Great job.

Oh man kiss your warranty goodbye lol.

Nice video, man!
What beautiful scenery! What state is that?
Great video brother.

I owned a mk8 golf r, and all the fuss about the ux is over blowned. Stop playing with the digital system and start driving. Set it and forget it.
Good informative video, thanks alot!
Class video

Very good review, good information and well presented
Great color moon
They are wrong about the steering wheel heating, it coming on is in the HVAC screen
Sound system is one of the worst I've had in a car 24 gti autobahn

I want a new GTI SE with DSG cloth seats and DCC is this available? have no luck finding one
What about road noise? Is the cabin quiet on the highway?
Murphy Green
welcome
2023?
So sad Americans have to put orange reflectors on the front of every car. Looks awful!
Those mountains in the background looks so so good
The rear hatch opens real far, allowing for a 6' walk-under with only a slight head tuck.
I love the mk8 styling.
I’m kinda sad about the new grill that looks pasted on for the mk8.5.
Also the over sized screen.
So, you did good getting the 2024
Wait until you see the screen in the 2015😮
Good to see positivity.
Just bought this exact same car (same color too). Love it! I’m 6ft 1 and fit very comfortably in it
Wow like the scenery, where is that?
Great review, have owned mk2,5,6,7,8 GTI golfs. Put getting a Mk 8 off until this year also, first drive surprised me - it was very quick , handled great too - cheers from Brisbane
Thanks for sharing!
I have a 2023 gti no complaints
Hey mate, why dint you go for Elantra N given it has much power than gti
Cant wait for the refresh, small HP bump as well as a torque😮
çongratulations on new car!
