Another use: when Snowbaron Lagombi picks up the giant snowball, as long as he's not enraged, throwing a sonic bomb at him will make he drop the snowball and he will become startled for a good amount of time.
Ahh, was looking for this comment. Otherwise, I'd write it. And, yeah! You can read about it on page 3 of its entry in Hunter's Notes > Monster List. In fact, page 3 (which only unlocks after hunting a monster for the first time) almost always contains very useful information to make hunts easier.
I think Gaijin missed it but Nible's wind tunnel can also be interrupted with sonic bomb. I know it is kinda late but i didn't remember seeing Gaijin hunter mentioned it.
+gaijin hunter You forgot that when the Nibelsnarf is exhausted, its ears are open. That is another fantastic time to use Sonic Bombs, as it will fly out of the sand much like the Cephadrome and flail about.
I remember one of my first runs in online vs the 'Snalf.. i just trown a sonic bomb in my mate direction, cuz i thinked it will flinch-jump.... BAAAMM... he carted
This moment when you kick out of your room a ghunter because you have finish your akantor farm, and in the day a friend send a message and say "you have kick gaijin hunter" lol Feelsbadman
He was farming Akantor and mindlessly kicked out a player attempting to join, you know, usual procedure. A day later a friend of his sent a message telling him that the player was actually Gaijin Hunter.
WHAT? I watch this and I look over at my husband and sister who I've been playing with regularly these days and go "We don't know how to play this game!" Thanks for the insight GaijinHunter!
Do any of us, really? I never knew half of these. About the only ones I did know were Kut-ku, Cephadrome (and knocking Niebel out of the sand), and Akantor/Ukanlos.
The Deviant Lagombi has a huge opening. If you Sonic Bomb it when it's lifting a giant snowball over it's head, it'll drop it and be stunned for a very long time.
Probably easiest with the Aerial Horn, since you can play the last two notes in one jump and then execute it with the super-fast post-landing-rehearsal. Other than that, I'd probably just play the sonic song randomly and use double notes to mix it in with other stuff, in the hopes of incidentally playing it at an appropriate time, lol.
Just today I was questing with a bomb and was trying to figure out how to use it! Thanks a bunch. That nibelsnarf tip was top notch, I'm definitely having trouble taking 3 of them in Village 5.
Also, when fighting against the deviant lagombi, you can use the sonic bomb when it's charging the giant snow ball. It will leave Lagombi in a dizzy state for a while, alowing good combos.
Quick note here for Zamtrios and Plesioth: When Zamtrios has not noticed you, go to the fishing area in area 2 and use a frog (can get them from area 1) Here, you can fish it out and if you are successful, you get a huge opening to start out the fight. Same with Plesioth in the misty peaks, it's just you can get the frogs from the waterfall area...I think. (haven't tested anywhere else cuz that's the only place I've fought him)
I spent a good 20 minutes looking for the frog spot, and for some reason it's the bit of land in front of the water fall next to the trees on the west side that looks like a bunch of pebbles. Who'da thunk it.
I can think of Projared (duh), Gaijin Hunter, ArekksGaming (did I spell that right?), Mort3m3r, EgoRaptor?, and PBG. Oh and Omegaevolution too. Did I miss someone kinda popular who plays this game?
Many of these I knew, but many of these I didn't know. The wombo-flash-and-sonic-bomb-combo on Diablos makes those fights a piece of cake, but Niblesnarf jumping at where the Sonic bomb goes? Now that's pretty cool.
long time hunter but im glad i reviewed this. reminded me a lot of uses for it. Macco probably isnt worth it but the big things definitely nice to have some handy.
You use the Sonic Bomb on the Hermitaur when it's GUARDING?! I never would have guessed that. I've been trying to throw bombs when its underground and eating shell because of its for weeks now. Thank you so much.
I only knew it worked on Kut-ku, Hermitaur, Ples/Lava, Zamtrios, and Narga (the one that makes it enraged). Well then, knowledge is definitely powerful. Thanks so much for showing us, but you still should be enjoying your vacation! :P
Good stuff as usual Gaijin, I would be highly interested in any information about Flash Bombs that you could enlighten us on. They seem to just not work half the time since 3rd generation onward.
If Nakarkos has skulls on its tentacles and does that charge attack with the "windy" animation, throw a sonic bomb during the charge and it'll topple over!
Lagombi is allergic to anything that makes a loud noise. One time I sent my prowlers to do a gathering quest in the Arctic Ridge. During that quest we ran into a Lagombi. Now one of my cats that I had with me for that quest was a bomber cat and he used the Barrel Bombay, the one that throws a Barrel Bomb S and costs 0 points. the noise from the bomb stunned the Lagombi and at that moment things got a bit crazy. The cat I was using also had the free Barrel Bombay so I chucked a bomb too which made the Lagombi stagger again. What followed was three whole minutes of the two cats doing nothing but throw small barrel bombs at the snow rabbit, rendering it unable to move and forcing it to just sit there and cry until it went into rage mode and the fun ended.
thank you so much, this was very helpful. I always wondered why they included bombs in certain quests, and now I know. Thank you Gaijin Hunter!!! 😄🙌🤘✌️🖖
A handful of these, I actually wasn't aware of, like Maccao and Arzuros. They don't strike me as monsters with sensitive hearing. But hey, still neat to know.
The Sonic Bomb can also effect Silverwind but its the same way as Lucent Narg in 3U. You have to throw it and get them as their in midair when jumping sideways.
Something nobody knows is you can lock up kecha wacha if he is in the area with the nest in the center of the vines he will always grab the vines with his hood down when he is going to leave and when he stands up cause he is leaving he wont bring down his hood and grab the vine again. This is how I handled the hyper my first time solo.
Wait, no Mention of the Blos duo weakness to Sonic booms?... Sorry, Sonic Bombs? For those not in the know, at least in MH4U (didn't have the chance to get Generations yet), when a Blos (Monoblos or Diablos) bury itself underground, you can throw a sonic bomb at it. The timing is extremely precise (and it won't work if it's enraged), but if you do, they'll be stuck in a pitfall trap like state, allowing you to lay down the hurt. Better, they jump out of the ground at the end, so a well timed Flash bomb at the peak of their jump will get them down, allowing you even more damage opportunities.
Oh, I see... Oh well, sorry for the bother then, good sir. P.S: Considering that the Monoblos hunt is basically a tradition in MH, I'm really surprised they left him out of this game.
An old school monster that this video didnt talk about was the diablos / monoblos. Anytime it's underground, the sonic bomb is the go to tool. Except while in rage mode (evidence of black smoke coming from it's mouth).
I've gotten your PoogieP Palico and decided to give it the skill Mini Sonic Bombay (I think) and that means Mini Barrel Bombay gets the Sonic Bomb effect and that really helps at times... but I mainly stick with Pro Trapper, Earplugs and Boomerang Pro.

once I was hunting it online and when It picked it up 3 of us (including me) threw sonic bombs almost at the same time
Ahh, was looking for this comment. Otherwise, I'd write it. And, yeah! You can read about it on page 3 of its entry in Hunter's Notes > Monster List. In fact, page 3 (which only unlocks after hunting a monster for the first time) almost always contains very useful information to make hunts easier.
Epidemic Eclipse +
I didn’t know it didn’t work when it’s enraged. I thought the game just had bad hit detection. lol
Not to self: sonic bombs and barrel bombs will make the Nible hunts much easier.
I love barrel bowls
Autocorrect strikes again! >_<
Thanks for being kind about it Oceanic Blues.
No problem!
note to self: Nibelsnarf is now fun!!!
I think Gaijin missed it but Nible's wind tunnel can also be interrupted with sonic bomb. I know it is kinda late but i didn't remember seeing Gaijin hunter mentioned it.
Just warning everyone now: despite their similar appearance and attack patterns, Sonic Bombs do NOT work on Yian Garuga or Deadeye Yian Garuga!
+gaijin hunter You forgot that when the Nibelsnarf is exhausted, its ears are open. That is another fantastic time to use Sonic Bombs, as it will fly out of the sand much like the Cephadrome and flail about.
see, this is the only one I knew for him. I never knew he ate bombs, and could be fished out, so I'm glad I got to watch that!
I hope this will keep randoms from knocking me away while I try to fish him out...
Pfft, admit it Gaijin, Monster Hunter IS your vacation.
Also, that "large fish caught" SFX with the Nibelsnarf was perfect.
If you say "First" then 7 drops bad luck!
First, sorry
R.i.p.
Hi
I didn't know sonic bombs had that many uses. they r OP
Seventh
5:23 I love shorts! They're comfy and easy to make fast!
My dual blades are top percentage!
XD!
I remember one of my first runs in online vs the 'Snalf.. i just trown a sonic bomb in my mate direction, cuz i thinked it will flinch-jump.... BAAAMM... he carted
Nice throw!
Tirta Firdaus Ironic, cus it really was one of the best Bomb shots in my hunting historial :'v
You know, from what you post i have a new idea to troll people :3
Tirta Firdaus lol
This moment when you kick out of your room a ghunter because you have finish your akantor farm, and in the day a friend send a message and say "you have kick gaijin hunter" lol
Feelsbadman
+Dominique PHILIBOT lol I was having trouble finding a room lol
Dominique PHILIBOT dude what are you saying?
He was farming Akantor and mindlessly kicked out a player attempting to join, you know, usual procedure. A day later a friend of his sent a message telling him that the player was actually Gaijin Hunter.
Poor Gaijin Hunter :'(
I would like to find a wife like you!
you should watch his weapon tutorial for the weapons you use so you can learn them better
The Deviant Lagombi has a huge opening. If you Sonic Bomb it when it's lifting a giant snowball over it's head, it'll drop it and be stunned for a very long time.
Kut ku with a monocle, stay classy fellow hunters
Happy you liked that! Was a quick thing I did in Pixelmator
I did, and thanks for the pelico building guides. I just started playing as them and they are fun as hell
Pixelmator is one of the few things I miss from OSX.
Also for nargakitty, using the sonic bomb to get him mad it'll allow you to put 'em in a pitfall trap.
Two videos back to back and uses for the sonic bomb that I didn't even think of?? Thanks papa
Had no idea you could go all Dodongo on Niblesnarfs, thats awesome!
You forgot to mention some Hunting Horns can do the Sonic Bomb effect. Though I never really used it but it's worth mentionning anyway. ^^
it's easier to time a bomb than timing the sonic wave song anyway.
Probably easiest with the Aerial Horn, since you can play the last two notes in one jump and then execute it with the super-fast post-landing-rehearsal.
Other than that, I'd probably just play the sonic song randomly and use double notes to mix it in with other stuff, in the hopes of incidentally playing it at an appropriate time, lol.
when you do an adept evade you can do up to any 3 notes as well as roll out of the combo
Why would he mention hunting horns if the video is about sonic bombs ? R u stupid ?
@@justusoconnor3243 because they have the ability to use a sonic bomb like song that does the same thing?
Great video! It is very nice to see the scream is still a tradition in the land of Gaijin Hunter.
Just today I was questing with a bomb and was trying to figure out how to use it! Thanks a bunch. That nibelsnarf tip was top notch, I'm definitely having trouble taking 3 of them in Village 5.
You can skip that quest. It is not important for progression
Also, when fighting against the deviant lagombi, you can use the sonic bomb when it's charging the giant snow ball. It will leave Lagombi in a dizzy state for a while, alowing good combos.
I figured there were more uses than I knew, but even some of the youtubers didn't show it either so I wasn't sure. Glad to see some examples
I only ever really used them on Diablos, so this actually helped a lot :) thanks Gaijin
The Sonic->Bomb-> fishing method is such a cool little quirk they threw in.
I throw sonic bombs at my enraged girlfriend when I make honest mistakes she drop lots of loot
even though i knew 70% of this vid to me it short, simple and very informative! 10/10 Gajin!
Don't forget if you sonic a snowbaron lagombi while it is holding the giant snowball above its head, it drops it and stuns itself
This thing about luring Nibelsnarf with a sonic bomb is a gem! Thanks for that! No more endless waiting until he finally comes after you.
Quick note here for Zamtrios and Plesioth:
When Zamtrios has not noticed you, go to the fishing area in area 2 and use a frog (can get them from area 1) Here, you can fish it out and if you are successful, you get a huge opening to start out the fight.
Who'da thunk it.
yeah
It's best just to go in with some already in your inventory
in tri frog does it to gobul.
It makes feel good in my heart that their is some you tubers that play this game, thanks
I can think of Projared (duh), Gaijin Hunter, ArekksGaming (did I spell that right?), Mort3m3r, EgoRaptor?, and PBG. Oh and Omegaevolution too. Did I miss someone kinda popular who plays this game?
+ZiggyHedgehog9538 also team darkside,cantaperme, crossposion
Don't watch those guys but thanks Mizutsune! Your my second favorite Fated Four Monster :P
I watch Apex Gaming and Rising Fun Gaming. I'll definitely check out the others, if I find the time to do so.
Bloopers were definitely the best part. I will forever remember that I can make my shorts go faster by using sonic bombs on agnaktor.
I had no idea about the Akantor and Ukanlos Sonic weakness. Very nice to know.
This was the most helpful sonic bombs video I've seen......Of all times.
That moment when Snowbaron is lifting the giant snowball and you throw a sonicbomb, FeelsGoodMan.
whoa, I didn't know about most of those
pretty useful
you just made my most hated monster (nibelsnarf) to the funniest one to fight! your videos are always worth watching ^^
Thanks for the info. I always wondered why there were EZ Sonic Bombs during Nargacuga hunts.
I always saw that button pop up for the nibelsnarf but I didnt realize I could fish it out
Thank You so much for this video along with all the video's you make. The Niblesnarf was the most incredibly discovery! I had no idea :D
Many of these I knew, but many of these I didn't know. The wombo-flash-and-sonic-bomb-combo on Diablos makes those fights a piece of cake, but Niblesnarf jumping at where the Sonic bomb goes? Now that's pretty cool.
3:06 Wow, I always hear that fanfare in my head whenever it's fished out too!
long time hunter but im glad i reviewed this. reminded me a lot of uses for it. Macco probably isnt worth it but the big things definitely nice to have some handy.
You use the Sonic Bomb on the Hermitaur when it's GUARDING?! I never would have guessed that. I've been trying to throw bombs when its underground and eating shell because of its for weeks now.
Thank you so much.
the new intro and outro is great! keep up the good work.
FINALLY I COULD NEVER FIND OUT WHAT THE SONIC BOMBS WERE FOR WITH HERMITAUR FINALLY BLESS YOU
I only knew it worked on Kut-ku, Hermitaur, Ples/Lava, Zamtrios, and Narga (the one that makes it enraged). Well then, knowledge is definitely powerful. Thanks so much for showing us, but you still should be enjoying your vacation! :P
Sonic bombing the Snowball when it has the giant Snowball is fun too. Stumbles funny as well
The bloopers made me laugh xD "...which will definitly make your shorts go faster" That hit me like a wrecking ball. xD
Finally learned why they give you sonic bombs on Nibelsrarf (What ever its name was) hunts. After all this years.. Thanks Gaijin!
Thanks gaijin! was looking for way to make my shorts go faster :)
Knock it up? Daymn, get that beastiality outta here XD
Ghunter's having so much fun in making videos like these that he forgets that he's currently on a break. :P
i hope we can see soon the light bowgun tutorial, i'm getting into it and your tutorials on other weapons helped me a lot
Did not know about Akantor or Unkalos for Sonic Bomb tossing. Now I can have alot more fun with them!
Hello Gaijin I am one of your rare french follower ;)
I don't speak english very well but I love your Channel ! Continue on your way !
sonic bombs on konchu make them flip on their back and expose their undersides :3 just a nice tidbit
Thankyou i didnt know that
also makes remombra fall out of sky if you're trying to make narga armor
he said large monsters tho
yeah but it's easier to just kick konchus instead, unless they're on a wall.
you could also kick em to it looks like a game of soccer
Love the bloopers! :)
Hope you add more of them to your future videos
2:00 You can also get the Cephadrome out of the sand by breaking its back fin (greatsword crit draws hooray).
Played a lot of 4u and enjoying X/G so far and I didn't know about any of these. thanks!
This was really helpful and awesomely edited thanks!
Good stuff as usual Gaijin, I would be highly interested in any information about Flash Bombs that you could enlighten us on. They seem to just not work half the time since 3rd generation onward.
Man, sonic bombs are so fun to use! Been using them recently!
Says he's going to take a break, uploads two videos the same day. Oh Gaijin
I wasn't aware that the Great Maccao was affected by these, thanks.
Another thing to note is I'm pretty sure the Yian Kut Ku immediately enrages after being sonic bombed.
I wish I had known this my first playthrough! Well done.
I love you Gaijin, hope life is treating you well
I never knew the sonic bomb was so useful
I like the classic opening and the new one being the ending one instead.
Really helpful. I didn't know most of it's uses.
If Nakarkos has skulls on its tentacles and does that charge attack with the "windy" animation, throw a sonic bomb during the charge and it'll topple over!
Thank you for the guide, that damn nibelsnarf will not have chance after i mastering the sonic bomb trick
If you sonic a snowbaron lagombi when it's holding up the mega snowball it gets stunned for years.
What followed was three whole minutes of the two cats doing nothing but throw small barrel bombs at the snow rabbit, rendering it unable to move and forcing it to just sit there and cry until it went into rage mode and the fun ended.
omfg i just looked this up and tried to figure it out a while ago. tysm
ty gaijin hunter, i final relize sonic bombs arent just a flying lizard killer. also, nible is now my favorite monster to hunt
I love when my shorts go faster :V
thank you so much, this was very helpful. I always wondered why they included bombs in certain quests, and now I know. Thank you Gaijin Hunter!!! 😄🙌🤘✌️🖖
Awesome thanks!
I knew some of them. but I learned some new ones!
Granted outside of the first MH I rarely experimented with them
A handful of these, I actually wasn't aware of, like Maccao and Arzuros. They don't strike me as monsters with sensitive hearing. But hey, still neat to know.
Once I was fighting a lagombi and a deviljho popped up out of nowhere. It roared so much that the lagombi (and me) could do barely anything.
If you use a sonic bomb on snowlord lagombi while he is carrying the giant snowboulder, he drops it and becomes dazed for several seconds.
Aw yis! This is a great guide once again! Those things sure are handy :D
You take a break the same way my dad diets.
Better to get these out for fun when you're on a break than trying to cram them with the usual stuff.
I'll take that break right off your hands Gaijin.
ffs just take a break already!
but thx 4 the videos👍
Another useful one is to throw one when a (non enraged) diablos goes underground, it essentially puts him into a pitfall trap.
2:29 BOOM! now safety is number one priority
The Sonic Bomb can also effect Silverwind but its the same way as Lucent Narg in 3U. You have to throw it and get them as their in midair when jumping sideways.
Well damn, that's cool only thought it worked on Kut-Ku, thx Gaijin
Was about to fight nibelsnarf until I saw this video, thanks for the tip!!!!
definitely make your shorts go faster haha
Something nobody knows is you can lock up kecha wacha if he is in the area with the nest in the center of the vines he will always grab the vines with his hood down when he is going to leave and when he stands up cause he is leaving he wont bring down his hood and grab the vine again. This is how I handled the hyper my first time solo.
Four years old but definitely great information.
+TheNekoGentleman they are not in MHGen unfortunately :/
Oh, I see... Oh well, sorry for the bother then, good sir.
P.S: Considering that the Monoblos hunt is basically a tradition in MH, I'm really surprised they left him out of this game.
Yeah I miss the Blos brothers and their screeching roars. I always had fun fighting those two in 4U.
A
An old school monster that this video didnt talk about was the diablos / monoblos.
Should definitely do a video for dung bombs, you have no idea how many hunters I come across that underestimate that item.
Dung Bombs are very straightforward items, though. They stop pinning attacks and they chase monsters (small monsters too, though that's not very cost-efficient) out of the area, and that's it. I feel like there'd not be a whole lot to say about them.
When a Snowglobe lagombi (deviant version) is doing the massive snowball throw a sonic bomb (when it is not enraged. Confirmation needed) and it will knock it over on its back.
"knock it on it's butt to create fun opportunities"
Butt
fun opportunities
Something you wanna tell us, Gajin?
Then in the Cephadrome blooper, he says "it will knock it up". Maybe some frustration....
Lost it when he started kicking the remobra. XD
