***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 2 new videos every week! Wednesday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

Lol "a gazillion of them" cracked me up. Girl you wear whatever you need to those of us who have watched you for years do not care at all!! You all are amazing I continue to learn something everytime I watch. I pray over my garden too EVERYTIME I'm in it. Have a good rest of the week see you Saturday morning
Your garden looks great, but I love your faith in God and that you tell everyone about it. God Bless You and your family.
And LOVE THE SHIRT!! 🇺🇸
I’ve always prayed over my garden, and I’ve found that the garden is such a peaceful place to do a good bit of praying. I’m a 62 year old caretaker of my husband who is a stroke victim for 11 years now. I’m home all the time and even though I have arthritis in my legs and feet, I so much enjoy getting outside and observing the growth and trying things I’ve watched others share on You Tube. What a blessing y’all have been to so many of us.
Bless your heart. You're devotion to your husband made me tear up. I too find my garden peaceful and I pray for a bountiful harvest so I can donate to those in need. Praying for continued strength and blessings for you both.
@@gabbygertie8709 We have been in ministry all our married life. On our travels, we have noted the most godly people we meet are farmers and gardeners. They don’t expect to receive but rather give. They spend hours a day in prayer while they are working. They are dependent on the mercies of God as He gives the increase. Love and blessings to you all!
‘The Lord bless you and keep you, the LORD make His face to shine upon you and give you peace.’
What a sweet spirit you seem to have! God bless you for all that you do for your husband . I’m glad that you have a garden and that you have peace there. I find that I am so relaxed while in my garden too and I always thank the Lord for blessing us with bounty for ourselves and to share with others.
I believe Praying over your gardens even flowers always helps a lot.
Your cotton pants are awesome! I wear them while I work in the garden to protect my legs from the sun and bugs that love to snack on me. They are cooler than jeans to me. You do what you have to do and and do not worry about us! I love learning from you and I know the community does also. Your garden looks amazing!
Sarah, you are a breath of fresh air. You are truly the definition of humility, and I think you and Kevin are both wonderful. You guys have such green thumbs! Your garden’s looking amazing! Thank you for sharing this journey with us, and also publicly acknowledging God’s Grace in your lives, and blessings He’s bestowed on your lovely garden. It really helps, to have an “attitude of gratitude”! and He loves that, I am sure. Well done, and I look forward to the next garden update! Love and greetings from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️👏👏
Amen! Well said... thank you. 💕🌻🐛
@@marking-time-gardens yep, Attitude of Gratitude, every day...you won't go too far wrong.
I watched Kate Bowler. A remarkable young woman. Worth a look.
Blessings from sunny Spanish Isla!!!
@@Alexe829 Thank you for the referral to Kate Bowler. I did check out her channel and I am grateful to have been introduced. Blessings from Ohio🌻🐛
When I could not find tomato clips in 2020 (supply chain/out of stock were the answers at the numerous stores I checked) I looked at what I had in my house and shed. I found pipe cleaners - and they have worked beautifully! I've even used pipe cleaner to hold up winter squash plants as big as the Banana Pink winter squash plants, watermelon, cucumbers.
Great idea!
Good idea...probably a LOT cheaper too!
GOOD on you. I love when folks can “make it work”.
Great idea! I had a similar issue here. My solution was to cut a couple old t-shirts into continuous strips. I rolled them into balls like twine. I'm still using those balls. I also used some face masks with tie straps, that I made, to support my trellised melons and squash.
I use a thick twine, natural fiber rope. very cheap 500ft rolls. I just tie loosely and have never had trouble. I also try and weave my tomato plants into the cattle panels as they grow. No need for ties at this point.
You look beautiful in anything Sarah. And if your comfortable while working, who cares. Great work on the gardens. Going to be a great harvest.
We always use a black light flashlight at night to find hornworms. They glow and are easy to spot. We gather them in a bottle and our chickens and turkeys will eat them with gusto the next morning. Your garden looks beautiful. God Bless you both.❤️
What a great idea. I'll try it, too. We have turkeys and chickens that would love the treat!
I usually put them into my wheelbarrow and pour gas on them. gas costs too much now. lol
@@annphilbeck5174 A bucket of soapy water will do, no need for gas.
I do that, too. Just finished my rounds a few minutes ago. I hate those worms!
@@j.b.6855 I make water, hot peppers or cayenne, dawn . to spray
Sarah, I don’t feel that you should apologize to anyone about you praising god. When my granddaughter was about 3 we would pick blackberries around my pool. One day she stopped me and told me , “grandma did you know that god put these berries here just for us” and of course I told her “yes baby god put these wonderful berries here just for us”. You should be comfortable when you work in your garden. I’m in Texas and it’s very hot ! Thank you so much for the video. God Bless
Sunday night we went night hunting for horn worms and picked at least 30 off, monday night we found 7 and last night we also found about 7. But thankfully knock on wood we have caught most before noticeable damage. We are way down in the far SW corner of Arkansas
I am dealing with a Grazon soil damage this year. It came in from cow manure. The farmer sprayed the hay grass and the cows eat it and then they use the manure for compost soil. People buy the contaminated cow manure and use it in the garden and it makes a huge mess with the plants.
It is a nightmare to clean up.
Jess had her rant about this situation just this week.
I had the same problem. My pepper looks like it was sprayed with round up.
And yes it is an expensive mess.
This is the 2nd comment on grazon in compost. I was going to use some commercially sold chopped straw to mulch my tomatoes. It doesn't usually get this hot and muggy here in Michigan till August. Now I am a little skittish about putting any type of mulch on my garden.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for speaking about this in a serious manner. I have seen some folks who continuously laugh and giggle through their whole video, as if homesteading is a “joke”. This is serious “stuff”. It is hard work; and, the positive results are VERY rewarding. May GOD continue to Bless and Keep you guys.
Sarah, Looks like you need a little garden cart with wheels to sit on while you work your way down the rows. I love your hat! Thank you for sharing your life and struggles on the homestead. I always learn something new. God Bless!
‘Footrest Fold-A-Way Tapestry Elevated Foot Stool Adjustable Foot Rest Rolling’ 🙂 looks like a pretty little creeper
Got the hat.
I'm not sure what they're called, but the carts a mechanic scoots around on under cars would work for weeding on your ground cover. Just a thought.
I love my garden seat with wheels, but don't think it would be as effective in helping me get up under the plants in the holes like she's doing. Sometimes it might work if the hole is more open and the plant isn't as bushy. Just my input, but again, I love my wheeled garden seat.
Was great to hang out with you in the garden🤗
I live on GA/SC border outside of Augusta GA. We've already had a dozen or so 100+ degree days. I live in a townhouse and most of my plants are in containers. I was noticing sunburns on many of my citrus trees, tomatoes, and blackberries. I convinced my family to help make a structure to put up a 20% shade cloth to help let as much sun in as was needed for the full sun plants. Since then (last 2 weeks) my plants and THRIVED. Its amazing how much of a small difference can make plants happy or suffer. Thank you for all the tips over the years.
We are at the same at Hartwell Ga
Your garden looks amazing! Thank you bringing me along, as I love vicariously through you in your garden/farming journey. 🥰🤗
You can plant your tomato suckers for extra plants.
I pray for blessing for my garden too. I find so many lesson to be learned while tending the garden also. Thank you for sharing your passion for gardening and love of Christ.
Yes amen our gardens are a blessing from God and I thank him every time I enter into mine!❤️
I love your cotton pants they look very comfortable!
Sara please take pictures of the different bugs in the future so we know what to look for relates to your types of tomatoes
You make hard work look so easy!! 😜 wish I had your energy and nimbleness but those days are gone forever for me. So I have to live vicariously through you. Thanks for all you do to post these videos. God bless you and your family ❤️
Sarah, get yourself a low, rolling garden cart so you can save your back. I have a low Rubbermaid one that I've had for years. I use it to pick bush beans. The seat doubles as a storage box. Love it!
I really enjoyed this very much. Thanks for explaining things you are doing and why. It is very helpful. Enjoy the harvest.
Thanks for your expression of gratitude to God for His generous blessings.
I watched a video where instead of cutting back, they just pinched off the top new growth and it did the same thing without stunting the growth
Hello 👋 beautiful how are you doing?
I'm with you, God has blessed us with hardens and the ways to preserve our harvest. He is so good to us
Praying for your garden is just another way of stewarding the land God has blessed you with. ❤️
Hello 👋 beautiful how are you doing
Very satisfying to see you sweeping up those weeds. Loved this video and Kevin in the background on his tractor 🚜
Hello 👋 beautiful how are you doing?
Your garden is looking awesome. Can't wait to see your bounty.
"Tis a gift to come down where we ought to be."
Thanks Sarah ! What a beautiful garden and YES thank GOD for all the wonderful things he does for us.l thank him too when I’m in my garden too. We are so blessed. You both are very hard workers and truly love your videos. Thanks so much! God Bless Chuck!
You can find horn worms at night with a black light. Its pretty cool😎
Your cotton pants look just fine I wear them all the time.. garden looks great💗💗💗
Hi, I’m in the middle to end of the season for my tomatoes. I have not seen one horn worm or any other bug on my tomatoes! What a wonderful season it has been!
Hello 👋 beautiful how are you doing?
Sarah & Kevin, I so appreciate your attitude of gratitude to our Great Creator, God. The blessings we enjoy from your homestead is inspiring in many ways! Thank you.
I like a tidy neat garden so I get rid of weeds often. My home good presentation is very important.
I have never used tomato clips. We cut our stakes and we use old rags and shirts and cut into strips. We tie the tomatoes up loosely and it’s worked for years. My grandmother done. My parents and me.
God will continue to pour out gazillions of blessings on your family, if for no other reason than He inhabits the PRAISES of His people. I am so thankful for the numerous lessons you guys have shared with me. I'm laying here recovering from back surgery and my heart hurts with desire to be out in my garden. I'm just gonna keep trusting Him, knowing He'll put me back out there in His perfect time. God bless.
Rogersville, Tennessee 🙏🏼🧡
I don’t care what you wear I just enjoy your enthusiasm!
I agree!! It is an honor to partner with God in caring for his creation!! Your garden is gorgeous 😍❤️🙏
Beautiful garden, Sarah and Kevin. I really like how the ground cloth suppresses weeds. Most excellent. That garden is a real treat for the eyes.
It makes me so happy to hear you talk about prayer and praying over your garden. My husband and I do the same and we pray for our livestock to do well etc . So thrilled to hear you proclaim proudly your faith !!!!!
Good Morning Sarah! Garden looks amazing! May the Lord bless you richly!
I love that you pray and ask God to bless & protect your garden! After all, He is our provider!
I have always prayed over my garden and thanked God for feeding my family! I’m so grateful and know that all things good come from God!
Times are tough. We all need to do what we can to survive - strong and self sufficient.
I don't want this to sound mean, but, while loving Kevin, it was such a please watching this precious lady doing her thing...I have ALWAYS learned to so much on this channel....and will continue to do so.
Wow that's really great
How is everything over there beautiful?
the stalks on those tomatoes are hosses! love watching you two do so much so right. It's the rare person who gets to taste both more urban, corporate world and rural homesteading world... Though I imagine with your personalities you'd make the best of your situation it is very clear this life suits you well. You two are very intelligent and sensible in your approach and learning... it's a pleasure to be able to partake in your life through youtube.
Thanks for bringing us along . your garden is looking amazing😊
It must be the year for tomatoes. Ours look incredible, too. I have never seen such thick and sturdy stems.
I pray for God's blessing on my garden too Sarah . so important this year to put up as much as we can
Cutting back transplants and thinning out seedlings are two jobs that many gardeners find difficult. If you have animals that will eat your discards, wonderful. Even if you don't though, remember, "Compost is not waste".
You have so many comments, but I also wanted to thank you for bringing us another and useful gardening video. I prayed over my little garden today. I've been worried about the heat ( Upstate S. C.) and the effects it would have on the tomato blossoms; thank you for lessening my anxiety. I will trim my marigolds tomorrow; I'm hoping they will bush out and bloom. Bless you and Kevin. Thank you so much Lee
For the sunburns, 50/50 ACV with the mother and cold water compresses, like with flour sack tea towels. It pulls the heat and helps to prevent blistering.
I am a red head and just have to think about the sun to burn, and this has been my go to for 15 years or so, since I developed an allergy to aloe because I used it so much. Just make sure to partially ring out the tea towel so you dont make a puddle, and be prepared to smell like a pickle for a while... The first burn of the season always hurts the worst, praying for you, God Bless!!
I am concerned about you even getting sunburns. The sun damages your skin when it burns, it will sho wipe when you are older and could lead to skin cancer. Please be careful! My youngest (Adult)daughter is a redhead and she doesn’t take it seriously and it scares me for her.
@@cynthiafisher9907 I am 41, and have been getting burned forever. I had to use a thin coat of zinc oxide(desitin) because the SPF 100 was prescribed, but didnt work. I sunscreen everyday, multiple times a day, and still get burned. I see a dermatologist every 6 months for a head to toe, and other than being freckled, my skin is healthy.
When I was little I ended up burning the soles of my feet while swimming, burned the whites of my eyes using UV blocking goggles. I just learned to take precautions and teach my son who is just as red headed as I am how to as well.
@@SaraPfeffer It sounds like you are doing what you can. I wish you well!
Sarah, you are such an inspiration to me. Thank you for your garden tour!
Praise be to GOD for all your blessing Sarah & Kevin! YOUR HOMESTEAD IS JUST SO WONDERFUL!
Yes! Praying is the best thing we can do! ❤️
You both are such good teachers! I love your continued testimony of praising The Lord. He is so good to us!
Great tip about trimming down marigolds to encourage low growth & bushiness! We live in a virtual wind tunnel here and tall plants often get snapped off, bushy is better!
I always plant marigolds interspersed with my tomatoes. I never see hornworms, worms, or anything else.
Love watching you in the garden 💕
Thanks for taking me along. Your garden looks fabulous.
That weed fabric is such a time saver in many ways
Thanks for sharing with us Sarah and Kevin, everything looks great in the garden and hayfields. Enjoyed the video. Fred.
Beautiful Beautiful Garden ! I really appreciate you sharing this with us!
You all are by far my favorite You Tube series. I admire your character and work ethic, you make a great team. Kevin might try putting a bale spear on the back of that tractor so he can move two bales at a time. If you are going very far it can save you time and fuel. Keep up the great work. God bless you both.
Excellent video as usual!❤️
Your garden looks wonderful. God is richly blessing for sure. He is so awesome. Hay looks good also. Thanks for sharing. God Bless
Beautiful Garden!
Sarah I enjoyed spending time as you weeded and educated us on various garden topics…thank you!
I am glad you brought up the soy bean info regarding gmo. There is a lot of soy grown in my area and all the fields are marked with road facing signs which show the licence # etc. Same with corn. I got really interested in studying plants high in oestrogen when I was asked to avoid food containing it, especially soy, because my oncologist noted that the type of tumours I had developed were known to be oestrogen sensitive. There is NO evidence that plants high in oestrogen CAUSE cancers, just that certain types of cancer thrive when they have access to oestrogen.
I find the bigger issue is pumping our children, sons and daughters with estrogen. It is an ingredient in so many products it is almost impossible to avoid completely but worth trying. I also have IBS and soy is one of the things that really irritates my stomach. I have also been told that if you have a lactose intolerance you more than likely also have a soy intolerance.
@@colliecoform4854 Yes if you are a label checker in the supermarket it is in just about EVERYTHING! And under so many different names that people might not realise it is soy- I would not have known Glycine Max was soy, for example. Soy and other excellent sources of protein should not be eliminated from diets unless you have underlying issues that could be addressed by avoidance. We all need protein. Also, most intolerances come and go, depending on exposure, so it is good to check tolerances occasionally.
The garden looks great!
Yes! God bless the USA and your garden 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
Thanks for bringing us along, Sarah. And thanks for the hornworm lesson! I love you guys.
Sarah you always bring a smile to my day!
Great video! Thanks Sarah.
Butterfly on your marigolds makes me smile. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you dear Sister Sarah ( & Kevin ). Good job, nice plants. Sunburn ouch ! Take care. God Bless you all in Love. ( shared to f/b ) Maranatha !

Always a pleasure to visit Sarah. Your garden is really hopping , so wonderful to see....
Your garden is amazing, everything is looking fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
Thanks for the update. You teach us so much. 👍🏻😊❤️
Everything looks absolutely beautiful! You and Kevin do awesome work!
Great video, Sarah! Your garden looks awesome. Praying that mine catches up. Not so good this year. Thanks for the time you spend to show us what is happening in your life. You are an inspiration.
I love watching you - your grace and Godly love just shines through!
I had to laugh when you said you got sunburned… when I saw how white your legs were, my thought were I know what’s going to happen. I’m laughing with you because I just did it too. My wife commented “where’s the switch?” When she saw me in shorts. She explained I had so little tan I need a switch to turn off the bright white glow of my legs. As always, I love your videos.
Your garden looks beautiful!!
I'm praying for your garden too. Thank you for sharing again. love you bunches 💗 God bless you too 💓
You are definitely a breath of fresh air. Love love your videos! I watch all the time and have learned so much from you both! My little garden is doing fantastic, here in Pittsburgh, Pa! ❤️👏
We used to scoop up the mounds of soybeans that spilt out of the grain truck. ( near our home)
Being a family of 9 living on welfare ( Dad was injured on a job. Don't know if disability social security was a thing back then) We would roast them in the oven and eat them . At that time also we ate lambs quarter, poke leaves, dandelion greens. My late husband introduced me to eating dandelion blossoms fixed like fried mushrooms. Oh so yummy!!!!
Bless you and your garden!
I love your videos. Thank you for sharing your love of gardening!
All of your plants are awesome - so healthy!
Down here in Texas, we have hit the other range of temperatures. We are having August temps in June. Too hot to set fruit on the tomatoes. Plus, the stink bugs destroy any fruit produced. I only leave the tomatoes so they draw the stink bugs away from the peppers. Seeing a lot of blossom end rot from irregular watering too. Went to order the irrigation system from your Amazon list and the pressure regulated emitters are not available. Ordered regular ones just so I can get the system put in. We are in drought, so I need to plan out more efficient watering and not stress my water well too much. Planning on my fall garden now.
God bless you, and your family Sara. Your garden is beautiful, and so are you.
Loved this video so much! Thanks so much for sharing your garden chores, and your thoughts on so many things! So sorry about the sunburn! I pray it heals quickly. (And you’re absolutely right about the edamame.)
Look forward to seeing your garden every season. I have told so many people about your growing cloth. Can't wait until I can have my own garden. 😊❤️
