I just discovered the channel and even though I’m mostly a metal guy I say finally someone who teaches different styles like punk, indie etc. Really good song choices!
I can remember going into Penny Lane (a record shop in Liverpool) in 1979 and asking if they had a Damned song book. The fella behind the counter wet himself with laughter and called attention to my request to other shop employees and customers, remarking "just play E, a songbook for the Damned, I 've heard it all now ". They were and still remain my favourite punk band. Fantastic lesson as always Adrian, if you get 'round to doing them again..Feel the Pain or Idiot box please. 😎🎸✅
Cracking lesson. If you like Brian James, check out his later work in Lords Of The New Church, with the late Stiv Bators from the Dead Boys another classic punk band.
Thank you. The damned are one of my favourites! As much as i love their (legendary and rightfully so) debut and james' guitar work, i think their best stuff was made from machine gun etiquette, black album up to strawberries. Fantastic Band. Your channel is pure gold.
brilliant love early damned just for the record my budgie was throwing himself off the side of the cage when I watched this more 70s English punk please stranglers the jam the clash etc. classic thank you
I had a gut feeling you would pick "Fan Club" from the two songs I suggested, and "Fan Club" was really the one I wanted to hear you do. I can't wait to have a go at this tonight when I'm home. Great work as always Adrian. You would be a dream guitarist to have in band.
I thought Captain Sensible was the only guitarist at least until the band regrouped after breaking up. In 2006 I was in San Diego and heard him talking live on a now defunct station 91.1X the cutting edge of rock.
Thanks for fulfilling my request for songs by The Damned, a wicked choice Ade! Brian James has released some awesome solo material over the years, a particular favourite being The Guitar That Dripped Blood and the track from that album "Becoming A Nuisance" Brian plays a Squier Telecaster that will knock the socks off any Fender Telecaster, despite having a collection of Fender Tele's and other styles of guitar he uses the Squier 99% of the time, he did tell me the story behind acquiring the Squier but I was quite tipsy and forgot it by the next morning
If you are searching for Brian James on streaming sites such as Spotify be aware there are two Brian James's, the other being a funk like musician, you will realise you have the wrong Brian though.
Wonderful stuff! And who would have been thinking m7's were an an integral part of Punk(?) Anyway, Julie and I strolled over from Mayday hospital to the party. Julie was a wonderful nurse (and a victim of the errant ways of my youth. Sorry Julie!) We get through the front door and ... lo and behold ....Sensible is bending over a guy who has passed out in the hallway, holding a cigarette in his hand (Sensible that is). Quoth he (in sarf London drawl) "Oh my god ... I stuck it in his eye" ... and naturally a good time was had by all. Moral ... sometimes things aren't as bad as they might seem. Forthcoming extract from "The Modern Aesop" by Iben Bijiben.
awesome, thanx adrian, ive been hoping you would get to some damned stuff! new rose would be killer, as well as really anything else from that album, as every song on there is classic!
Any chance of Plan 9 Channel 7 Adrian? There's some pretty nifty Captain Sensible geetaring on that! As there is on all of Machine Gun Etiquette. Also a good opportunity to treat yourself to an SG while you're at it :)
this dude picks some of the coolest songs.
THIS is the reason you’re my favorite guitar channel. KEEP THE PUNK SONGS COMING
I just discovered the channel and even though I’m mostly a metal guy I say finally someone who teaches different styles like punk, indie etc. Really good song choices!

Awesome thanks
Adrian, you're one of the few teachers on UA-cam who actually seem as if the guitar is part of your genetic makeup. Faultless playing.
Another great left field choice Adrian. I swear sometimes it’s like you have a window into my record collection!
Yes!!! Thank you so much, the damned is so fooken underated!
My favorite damned song
