+The Mayor It might be a little faster but what mostly limits the speed is the sharp curves, therefore the train can't be set to full speed. Otherwise it would be almost like 9V. The steep descends also help gaining the same speeds as a 9v. The ascend might be little slower but there are also people (immigrants or zombies I'm still not sure) walking next to track in which case it would be unsafe to drive that fast! ;) With all that said; it would be just a very little bit more exciting if you ask me :D ;)
+bananenbuurman The difference of the original, old 9v train to your train is, that the old 9v train gets its power from the rails, there is metal on top of the rails, so there you have a transformer connected to the rails. But that would be very difficuilt, because the old 9v rails are very sensitive to corosion. I dont know if its really faster, but i am a fan of old technic and I think it is more fun, to search which rail is not connected exactly and so on. I also think, that driving an old car is much more cool than driving a new car for example :D
+Raphael Meyer Yes the power gets bad when the track is too long. I have a 9volt track myself. How do you check those connections? As an addition on my answer I would say creating this layout outdoors with 9volt would be unnecessary expensive and a hassle because of the bad connections in long tracks. This particular track is somewhere around 20 meters.
