Welcome back to Wheeler Scientific! This video will use a previously produced reagent to produce hexachloropropene, which will then be used to produce uranium tetrachloride. The reaction is an elimination reaction known as E2, a fundamental organic reaction; in the reaction, chlorine is kicked off, and a new double bond is formed. To accomplish this, We will use a strong base to remove a hydrogen group.

If you want to analyze single, liquid compounds, a refractometer can be tremendously useful, while being super simple at the same time.

They have a sweetish smell, I tried avoid breathing them due to their toxicity, but was hard to do when doing FTIR.

Heptachloropropane smells oddly refreshing, like pine trees (pinene) mixed in with a hint of mint.
