I’ve been wearing a back pack hydration system, and I want to try something different this season. I just ordered this same hip pack. Great review 😊

Recently gone down the hip pack route myself but went for a very slim camelbak one with pretty much just enough space for essential tools and a bottle. So liberating after using a back pack with hydration bladder, much better for summer

Yeah it is a big change to go from a bag to a hip pack. I guess when you take a bag you just throw extra stuff in there, but when you have a hip pack you have to think about what you are taking. Definitely better for summer.

I'm on my third season with this pack. No real wear or tear. It's held up great from Pisgah to DuPont to Arkansas to Moab and a lot of Colorado. I don't really use the bladder anymore. Just cary one bottle in the pack and one on my frame. I recommend this pack for any 2 to 4 hr MTB adventure.

Great to hear that it is hardwearing. I really like mine, a great purchase.

Hip pack is perfect for me as i need to carry medicine along with tools and such. Got a small Fox hippack of a couple litres of storage which barely fits everything in so i wish i got a larger hip pack for bigger rides. Great review mate

Thanks mate. Yeah it’s definitely come in handy. Especially for tools etc.

Great review, think I’m sold. Which phone were you trying to fit into the bag?

Is this bag suitable for hiking? Thanks!

The answer is the Henty Enduro 2.0. It's a hip pack with lightweight mesh webbing to keep it feeling light on the hips. I love mine!

What do you think of using the bladder space for your phone? If I went for a hippack I would probably just use water bottles: either on the bike or the side holsters on the pack.

Using the bladder pouch as a phone pocket is a good shout, I hadn’t thought of that. 👍🏻

At my age, I’m getting tired of hauling around a backpack. But a hip-pack leaves you with a problem. You might need to carry something big.
It would be nice if they made a hip-pack that contained a backpack made of very lightweight material; which is folded inside. If you need it, you just pull it out. When stored, the folded backpack should hardly take-up any room.
The backpack would only be intended for occasional use. Not as a replacement for a dedicated backpack.

There are packable 10ish liter backpacks that weighs like 100g. Take almost no space.

Has anyone tried popping in a soft flask into the main section (like trail runners use)? I’m thinking that if you don’t wanna carry a full bladder system but don’t want hard bottles could be a good way to carry extra fluids to top up the bike frame bottle?
I’ve used hip packs for running with plastic bottles and find them noticeable as the fluid drops, soft flasks are good as you don’t get any swishing with the air out.

Yeah I tend to use a 1L Platypus soft bottle in my very similar Camelbak hip pack. I find the bladder and tube setup to be annoying.

    • @creativechimp03

@@chris4536 yes I also find the tubes annoying.
