The only thing I wouldn’t suggest is that if using a snap link to un clip the trace don’t do it in the water incase the pike jumps out the net then it’s gone with a trace in its mouth
Thanks, great video, used to love spinning for pike when I was a kid. you've made me want to catch pike again. My main concern with dead baits is deep hooking. Any advice on how to avoid this? cheers, Tom.
lost and confused 2 main things don’t put the hooks to far down the bait one in the tail root and one halfway down never hooks in the head and the second strike straight away and use good bite indication look up ady woodchucker on UA-cam for rigs
Hooks always closer to the tail mate. As said previously 1 in the root of the tail and 1 half way up the flank or in the back. Majority of the time pike take the baits head 1st so you don't want hooks that end 😁👍
It's personal choice and depends on the rig. Myself, I always use an uptraces when float fishing or paternoster fishing, actually, that's a must when paternoster rigging. For the standard leger, you don't really need to as the line is out of the way. Great video, I've luckily been able to teach/show carpers and newbies how to pike fish. Very enjoyable watching someone catch their first pike. Love it.

Excellent video and a cracking session for you. Love lamprey, but blooming expensive bait. I tend to use them on rivers.

Don't you use uptraces?

You waited miles too long to strike when you got a take on the float, absolutely shocking
Lamprey is a protected species at home
How is the weight of the fish accurate aswell when your not taking into account the weight of your sling like🤦♂️
He says in the video weighing scale zeroed so it's giving him the weight of the pike only
