Brilliant vid !!! From others I've watched always felt like this was well beyond me and my bike 😂 but you've given me the confidence to give it a go. Good work 👍
@@UPHILLPHILL just a quick question. After looking at the website it says knee pads are mandatory just wanted to check this was the case ? Keep up the good work with the vids I subscribed today 😁
Yes buddy, you’ll definitely need a full-face lid and knee pads👍. I’d also recommend elbow pads too as a just in case measure and if you’re feeling flush 💰 some body armour, I don’t wear it myself but my buddy swears by it! To be honest, I tend to wear my knee pads 100% of the time due to the kind of riding I tend to do and my full-face regularly comes out for Welsh trails in general 🏴🤘. Ps. Thanks for your support ✊
Thanks Phil, you've helped me decide to go to Dyfi, every other video seems to be from a semi pro on a DH bike, which is great to watch but not alot of help to a normal rider.
Great video, I’m going for the first time in a month and this will really help me decide on what to ride and have some sort of knowledge of what I’m riding 👍🏻
Thanks James, I’m proper chuffed you enjoyed it and it’s giving you a little bit of knowledge prior to going. I was quite intimidated on my first visit but it is absolutely my favourite place to be now. A warm up lap or 2 on Lovey Dyfi is a great idea and something I do every time I’m there, it’ll help you feel the terrain, gradient, speed and grip of which there’s loads of it all! Have a fantastic time and above all, stay safe and shred well😜🤘.
Hi 👋. Thanks so much for your message/feedback and for watching ✊. You’re so gonna LOVE Dyfi, it’s absolutely my favourite location/area. The bike park is exceptional as are the numerous amazing local riding spots close by. I know exactly how you must feel as I had the same nervousness on my first ride there, but rest assured that it’s the best bike park by far and all others will pale in comparison after Friday! I’d recommend starting with Lovey Dyfi as a warm up to get a good gauge and feel for the place first and move on from there. This trail has so much progression potential and it’s the one that’s progressed me the most with speed, cornering, jumps and confidence. I genuinely wish you well and hope you have as much fun as I do every time. Stay safe and shred well 🤜🤛.
@@UPHILLPHILL thank you for your reply and tips! Much appreciated! I’ll start with Lovey Dyfi as you suggest. It feels like I’ll finally be riding my Atherton where it’s meant to be! My lad is very excited! Hopefully it’ll all be good and not too wet! 🤣. I’ll post a video on my channel when I get back 🤘👍
@888-mtb if it’s wet, it’s definitely better, the grip is phenomenal 👌. If you’re in the area for a few day’s, check out the Dyfi forest area, there’s ClimachX which is a great enduro loop and lots of off-piste black runs and also Whiterock the other side of the golf course, more exceptional off-piste black runs. The best track by far at the bike park is Racetrack, it’s a fast brutal trail but so rewarding. Enjoy and I look forward to seeing your videos ✊.
My Whyte T-130 is 130mm and my buddies Specialized is a 150mm. Dyfi has got to be my favourite place for sure, I’ll be heading back there soon also and again for the Atherton bikes owners group meeting 👌
Atherton Owners Club Meeting? That’ll be carnage! 😂 had a video call with Will yesterday about the build - I’m going to try a couple of alternatives before firming an order with them but I reckon the A170 is where I’ll end up. Really enjoying your content Phil.
Awesome ✊. You’ll absolutely love it, don’t get me wrong, it’s a challenging venue but some/most of the videos depict it as seriously extreme, of which some of it is but the tracks we did are sooooooo much fun 🤩. I’m heading back for my 50th this year, so 50 hits on my 50th year🎉🥳😝🤘
@@UPHILLPHILL What date will you be riding Phill? My 75th is in August! I have actually been once on a downhill bike but it felt very cumbersome and I was overbiked. Should be better on a bike that I am familiar with and feel comfortable on.
Absolutely awesome 🎉. I’ll be heading there in the Easter break. I’d love to invite you to join our Facebook group of which you’ll find more details and group rides we regularly offer. Check us out, we’re very friendly 🤜🤛😉. facebook.com/groups/fsrmtb/?ref=share_group_link
Nice one 👍. Such a massively sad situation about Revs, I genuinely feel for them and pray that they return in the near future 🙏🏻. Enjoy the bike and the trails 🤘🤜🤛
I went not long ago in the rain and it was amazing I’ve been riding properly for about a month I’m no where near good or fast yet but I still managed to get down racetrack with no crashes along with turns in the ferns it’s brilliant highly recommend
Great video guys! I was only talking about Dyfi last night and thinking my bike or skills weren't man enough for it. But after watching this i think my skills maybe but not my bike as its only 115mm and 130mm fork. New bike in the future so i may have to give this place a visit.
Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 👍. It definitely helps to have a decent amount of suspension for sure as it opens up so many more trail opportunities but I’d be happy to ride my HCHT down Lovey Dyfi and one or two others. Enjoy shopping for the new rig 👌.
Nice review of the trails, interesting for me as I'm definitely wanting to try the place when my new bike arrives so good to see it's more than fine for trail bikes.
@@UPHILLPHILL The place looks epic, I’ve just starting learning to jump so I’d be more comfortable on some of the tables now or at least give them a shot. I plan on going when I’m visiting the in laws as they’re out by Birmingham so only a couple of hours from there. New bike is an Orange stage 6 evo, 29er with 140 rear and 150 fork 🙌
@@TheMTBPOV you’re right, it is epic! Your Orange will be in its element 🤘. I really found my jumping improved so much and I felt so much more comfortable with some very simple advice from the guy’s on-site that I’d not heard before, which allowed me to clear so many more tables with ease. Have a blast dude 🤜🤛
Great video guys. I myself am an average rider that likes a lot of stuff apart from jumps probably because I'm no good them. Having been to BPW a few times and another trip planned in July youve now got me thinking about a trip to Dyfi....! Good work!
Thanks for your feedback 👍. Don’t hesitate, you’ll love it. All the jumps are rollable on Super swooper and 50 hits and offer excellent progression sessions. Just bear in mind that the gradients are quite steep and the lines propel you to hyper speed in a blink of the eye 💨. Enjoy 🤜🤛
Great video. The camera kept looking behind you though which interupted the flow of the video & for me made it quite difficult to watch. Looked like a good day out & great weather.
Thanks for your feedback, it’s much appreciated 👍. The rear view is simply to allow viewers to see a different perspective of the trails and to make my videos a little different from all the other 10 million POV style videos. I will be uploading some stand-alone POV videos on specific trails so I really hope you like them. Thanks once again dude 🤜🤛
Thanks for watching Robert and for appreciating my rear view angle. GoPro’s definitely have a habit of flattening out the terrain so it’s nice that this view kinda sorts it 👌.
As great as BPW is, Dyfi is better in so many ways 😜. I hope you have an epic day. Thanks so much for your feedback and comments. Stay safe and shred well 🤜🤛🤘
OMG 😮 I’m so envious ✊. I’m planning to head back for my 50th next Easter with a big gathering of like minded nutters from our Facebook group #fsrmtb. You’re gonna have such a blast 🤪🤘
It’s simply a different perspective that I wanted to experiment with to capture my buddy, the trail features and steepness, as UA-cam is a constant learning process, I’m keen to try different angles and so far I’ve had great feedback until now. Can I ask what it was you didn’t enjoy? Thanks for watching anyway 👍

If it helps, I use Raceface knee pads as they are extremely comfortable, lightweight and can take a right belting 👍
