Malle Moto - The Forgotten Dakar Story

- They say you only really grow at the very edge of your comfort zone. For the last three years Lyndon Poskitt has been stretching that comfort zone one kilometre at a time. From the safety of corporate existence to the freedom of a motorcycle and the open road to the biggest challenge of his life as he rides 150,000km to take part in the hardest class of the most brutal motor race in the world.
In 2014 Lyndon Poskitt set off from the UK with a simple goal, to ride round the world on his motorcycle and race rallies in every continent he visits. A voyage of discovery? Or escape? As his time on the road grew, along with his hair and confidence, it dawned on Lyndon that as the world has become smaller the idea of adventure has lost it’s way.
Inspired by the early pioneers of exploration and speed, he entered the infamous Dakar Rally, now hosted in South America. Lyndon looked to the pre-commercialised origins of the race where competitors set off with very little assistance or hope of reaching the finish line. To this day, even though the Dakar Rally has outgrown it’s humble origins, it still retains the Malle Moto class for those who seek a pure test of spirit and endurance. One man. One bike. One box of tools. 12 days and 10,000 kilometers of hard racing.
In 2017, as the only competitor to ride to the start line, Lyndon was to discover the limit of his already stretched comfort zone. There would be only one way to discover what lies beyond it…
If you liked this film don't forget that you can watch Lyndons 'Races To Places LIVE' project this January as he attempts to win the 2018 Malle Moto class of the Dakar Rally all whilst being filmed live by his intrepid film crew...

Not politicians, not footballers, not pop stars... it's guys like this kids should look up too.
word !!!
I do! 21
smokeybarr True 😉🤙
I’ve always said, go out and do a desert race, and tell me you aren’t a better, stronger person because of it.
smokeybarr I look up to this I’m 16
I am now 54 years of age and you are living my dream, I regret not following my heart at the age of 18, I wanted to ride my XT500 to the end of the world and back. It was expected of us to go and fight a war and then start a job.
Well done man, live your dream.
Respect!!!
Sounds like you live on the southern tip of Africa Len. I had the same dreams as well...
54 is not too late, many do it, make it happen man .. don't regret to die and never dare to try.
Check out Ian Coates, he is like 80 and travels on his Africa Twin all the time.
SOUND LIKE YOU’RE SOUTH AFRICAN, LEN?
@@richardpooley5535 , yes sir. My family has been here since 1678
It's content like this that leads me to spend less and less time looking at a television and more and more time looking at a computer. Why in the name of god would I waste my precious few hours of relaxation after the kids have gone to bed on pop star wannabes jumping through hoops for condescending judges, D-list celebs making twats of themselves in a house, cookery programs or any number of 'reality' offerings when THIS is sat at my fingertips? Awesome film Mr Poskitt......simply awesome. Good luck for 2018!!
The same reason why i gave up on Television. The Internet is the future today...sadly governments are trying to destroy it.
im lucky enough to have been born in 2000 so i grew up with tech all my life. i dont think i will ever own a tv in my life, and i dont think there will be many from my generation that will. good riddance
DJL 68 whats cool is we have smart tvs so i can watch lyndon on a 66inch screen!
Wait till you see a video of how to assemble a working computer online in minutes from boxes of parts pieces of different brand names and the video person showing you how is a 5 year old little girl...all of a susden you wont feel mentally challenged and will have this compelling erg to check out newegg , tiger direct ebay, and amazon for DIY bare bones pc kits as we are men who will not be shown up by children ....and bada bing you can snap together a real pc using only a number #2 Phillips screwdriver and end up with a behemoth that runs faster than you can tell it what to do with a mouse or keyboard or voice command .. For 500 bucks it will be faster than anything in your office and cost three times less that what dell has to offer or all of wally world put together ....cool part of this deal is you get to send in registration warranty cards on every component that are usually covering said component for two years and higher end pieces will be longer coverage ....example if your 15 hundred buck Dell breaks down after 20 days you dont get anything back brand new and not even the same computer , but instead a totally "refurbished dell" (from hell) ..as you will end up with all the parts that didnt overheat from someone elses misfortune , as dell requires the whole computer sent back in the same box it came in ..even if its just a start button that fails or like in my case was the motherboard that burned out because the power supple was underrated for the load and then there is always the name brand mark up of parts you can buy anywhere for pcs at a fraction of dealer cost ...it is a mind blowing story to follow and get involved with the pc deception ring of fraud and misleading non info that are costing the public billions except bill gates , microsoft , nvidia , advanced micro devices (AMD) and of course our pals at Intel. Bomb beam boom bam..we have Intel inside
I've not had a TV license (here in Britain) for most of my life - last time was for just a year back in '96 - this exquisitely peerless video alone justifies that choice. Vast amounts of viewing choices have alway existed, first of all on video-cassettes (before that, I was too busy chasing girls to bother with TV), then DVDs/Blu-Ray and hard drives and internet/catch up. Scheduled live TV is dead.
Dakar coverage is so limited it’s nice to see an inside view, great work Lyndon
No only self supported for the Dakar, but he rode to the race start. This is an epic documentary and all involved should be proud. It truly coveys the emotional and physical toll this race takes on Lyndon and all competitors. This is Dakar as it was originally intended, not the corporatized, whoever has the most bucks wins all.
30 Minutes Dakar rally a day!!! On tv!! Please bring it back. And this video is one of the best I ever watched!
WOW! This inspires on a whole new level!
Bookmarked for days when one feels bummed out!
PowerDrift here cuz you said it, thank you for saying it.
PowerDrift thank you so much for sharing this video. Now I know lil bit more about Dakar rally. The Toughest Race.
PowerDrift on point man
Huge respect to Dakar racers especially malle moto racer 🙏. Gutted for cs santosh and aravind kp 😍. Envying sagar more as he is witnessing all this in person 😜
Any idea whom that is on the Hero bike at 53:25 ? Doesn't really look like Santosh but I'm not sure coz it's out of focus.
We love you Lyndon. Greetings from Lima Peru.♥️
Struggeling with words. This race, this attitude, this charakter is just wow!
Lyndon! What a HERO!!!!
Proper modern day hero and inspiration to far more than I'd wager you realise!
I've followed Lyndon Poskitt from day 1. He is a inspiration off the scale and the epicness of the Races To Places journey is the zenith of adventure. Emotion to the core watching a genius with machines and with people letting his dreams take flight.
One of the best documentaries about Dakar very emotive, Great job Lyndon!!!!
If only I could do something even remotely close to something as Spectacular as ur life...... God bless u and make ur dreams n wishes come true... !!! Godspeed... n keep the rubber side down... !!!

Fantastic, thanks Lyndon RIDE ON!!!!!
Great video, departing on a 2 week long 4000km desert ride this weekend, nothing like this, but the emotions are all the same. Thank you for the inspiration when I needed it most.
well done! the video quality and production value continues to climb with each new adventure. This is especially hard to watch when it is -25C and my motorcycle season is 4 months away. Anyhow, thanks for sharing this Lyndon and sponsors!
Massive respect to Lyndon, had to pick up my tears sometimes and supper awesome to stil pick up your camera, while you are so tired and dirty from a hard day on the bike. And supper excited to see Lyndon in my home country dissovering lot's of beuatifull contry sites and roads.
Still a great video and great story. Lyndon you are a super hero. Your toughness and tenacity paired with preparation are unstoppable. I'm so proud to have sent you a few dollars for Africa Eco Race 2020. Enjoy an extra tea or a shower or a shot of vodka on me my friend. I hope we can meet someday! Words cannot express how you bring this to the average person. You are sharing your love of people, and culture, and humans with us in a way that moto journalism has always struggled to do well. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
This is by far one of my first documentaries. I started following Lyndon at the beginning of this years Dakar rally and he is really one of my biggest idols.
I’m so close to starting a small adventure of my own. I have to do this or die trying. Everyone of my family says I’m crazy. Not one word of encouragement. I’m going to do an adventure and nothing is going to stop me!
It's scary until you make the decision!!! Absolutely.. very inspiring.. thank you.
Probably one of the best hours I’ve spent not riding in a few years. Such a great story mate.
Thank you for sharing your story Lyndon and GOOD LUCK on 2018!!
Really fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed the segment where you narrate the navigation. The catastrophe was quite unfortunate.
Only when you stop living someone else's life and choose to live your own, can you find fulfillment and I believe this is exactly what you did here. Congratulations!
It's a rare privilege to be able to be welcomed onboard and into your story for this mammoth achievement. Well flipping done!
I recently purchased an Adventure Spec skid plate for my 690r because it looked cool, was from a different country and had great features and protection. After this video I feel proud to have it on my bike and a sense of kinship with your company realizing It’s from people that love motorcycles like I do. You guys get it and in my book that makes Adventure Spec the best.
What a trip ,you sir have my utmost respect.😎
Absolutely bloomin brilliant. .., watching this excellent, emotional and exciting Dakar film has been the best bit of Christmas! Lyndon did us proud....Steve
Wow what a Documentary 😊 living the dream for us all 👌 ace
some of us aren't that lucky to be able to travel around the world on our bikes, but you make us live those moments and make us feel alive watching these videos.Sometimes, after watching some of them, I put on my gear and go for a short trip....they are really inspiring.
ossa60 yup, exactly that. Put on the gear and go for a ride. Short or long. 125cc or 1200cc. Just ride. Les

Awesome!! Well done, Lyndon and AS!!
The best footage from Dakar 2017 was watching Lyndon sit by the side of the trail and do that piece to camera about his exhaustion... So memorable.
Dear Lyndon. I have watched all races to places an now this epic documentary on the real flat spirit.
You are a true inspiration. A legend! All the best from Sweden.
Amazing!!! I feel like I have been all over the world with Lyndon!
Fantastic documentary... Makes me long for "the great ride"
This documentary is epic, it shows Dakar in its true raw form, and this guy Lyndon - hats off to you man!
Before watching this documentary I never knew Dakar could be this crazy, and all guys who compete in Malle Moto Class - courage beyond words.
This is so crazy. I believe nobody has an idea what such lack of sleep feels like. Man, watching this video had such an impact on me. Thanks for sharing, especially in this open way. You are a real hero.

Lyndon you are a class act and an inspiration, nothing but love man!
Lyndon you are an inspiration! Your film is epic and brought back so many memories from our time on Dakar ( 2003, wow a long time ago) keeping an eye on the Malle moto riders and sharing the bad days and the good. The Malle moto is not the 'forgotten Dakar' but the REAL Dakar true to the Thierry Sabine adventure. Good luck for this next one, we will be with you all the way! Dot and Jim Jones
You are truly an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your amazing story.
Amazing, Lyndon showed such willpower and stamina, a documentary people will talk about for years to come!
What a personality. Through blood sweat & tears he musters strength beyond most others.
You are great! I have no other words...this is Adventure! Thank you.

EPIC story and Fantastic job Lyndon,.... Congratulations!
Brilliant video Lyndon! Great to have met you a few years ago in Adelaide and know how humble you are and share the joy in seeing your achievements. All the very best for what lies ahead!
I was born in 1973 and i altso have the fond memories of that half hour of Paris-Dakar on the telly. The Mitsubishi Pajeros, Stephane Peterhansel, big 1000 bhp trucks doing battle with the desert. And Group B rallying.... Magic times
Malle Moto riders truly are hardcore, Lyndon is a legend to me👍
What a story right out from the belly of the hardest race on Earth, so inspiring... And then you think in ten days it's all rollin' again! Congratulations, Lyndon, thank you so much for sharing this with us and THE BEST LUCK in Dakar 2018! You really rock, pal!

Indeed! Do follow your heart .... for therein lies true happiness ! I've just been weeping the whole time so happy for Lyndon who's truly living his passion. Though I'm in a part of the world where its hard to put 1&2 together, somehow I'm motivated to keep pushing.
Never seen a legend like you. You're an inspiration. I'm not a racer, I just love bikes. And people like you are the reason, who keep pushing the limits to infinity and beyond. Very motivating and inspiring how to get the courage to chase your dreams. God bless you. :)
Holy crap, this was amazing. I've followed the Rally for years, but did not know there was an even harder way to do it (the Malle Moto). What a champ this guy is.
This is honestly one I’ve the best videos I’ve ever watched on motorcycle riding. So well done, no agenda, just shows a very dedicated & driven guy with a few connections take on Dakar. He’s also a superb rider on a factory bike, good on ya Lyndon! I tell my friends about this one!
absolutely fantastic. Your an inspiration Lyndon.
Very moving and inspiring, Lyndon is such a great human being and ambassador for Adventure riding
Just outstanding! A brilliant Christmas present and a must see for anyone with even the slightest interest in the Dakar.
Now let’s see what 2018 brings!
Thank you for making this and making it available!
this has sooo much heart! such a wonderful film.
A great decision Lyndon made by going out on a motorbike, a stunning challenge he managed to take by his own in Malle Moto, a gentleman of smile and a man a woman dream about. Thanks for inspiration and being real!
Absolute Legend, very inspiring fella!!!!! Well Done
Inspiring!! Have followed Lyndon for the past 3 years and it just gets better, fab to see some of the reasoning as to what the driving force is!. Good luck in 2018 Dakar and beyond. Ride safe Lyndon

Lyndon your an amazing guy, with some serious determination.what an awesome story you will have for the rest of your life.INSPIRING
Very encouraging to here you struggles with living in the normal and being lost, than to sell off most things and set out fresh and refocused on an idea, desire, adventure, than putting it to action. I really enjoy the real moments when you show you self, the emotional and sincere parts of you. Keep on, your smile is intoxicating.
You are the Elite Lyndon. Millions of us everyday riders cannot help but admire you, envy you and appreciate you letting us ride along with you if only thought video and diaries.
Im saving this video for tonight, a cold beer as company, this will be great!
This's it, the essence of motorcycle riding and adventure. Lyndon I can not wait to see the footage from 2018 Dakar. Keep my fingers crossed for a unforgetable 40th rally.
Well done, Lyndon! You truly know how to live life to the fullest and are an inspiration to those of us still slaving away in the aerospace industry. Cheers!
Scott Hoge
what an inspiration Lyndon, biggest of respect and admiration for your hard work, dedication and sacrifice!
He seems like a really good descent human being beyond the determination and courage. Glad to see him finish well. In France the malle moto class is still regarded as the origins of Dakar, the real deal. Just like the Vendée Globe for round the World solo sailors. These people are great inspirations.
the very real Dakar !!
Thanks a lot for having the courage to change your life and sharing to all of us !! Bravo !!
Love it. We need more inspirational legends in our lives. Go Lyndon, go.
These guys are the real deal. true dedication, and an even truer heart, these guys deserve some love !!

Got quite emotional at several points 🤒
Why is this not on a main TV channel?
🏍Bikes rule!👊
