I ordered one last month, and recently received an email stating that I had days to call in to keep my position in line to get it and when I called, they said, that I was good to go but the delivery date has been pushed further away, closer to November. 🤔
Finally received it 🙌 and used it at a gig and the band loved it just as much as I did. Knowing when and where to use it makes all the difference. Thanks Boss 👍
Ok, I am late to the party yaaaa?!? I have been playing bass for a gazillion years (34 to be exact) and on Sunday I bought my first 5-String, for a pop project where I need a low B. I also bought this pedal to make my bass sound like a synth and may I say, o m g. The tones, they are truly mind blowing. Then I thought I’d have a look for inspiration, hence me being here. Sorry I’m late. But thank you so much for this video. My wife will hate it. But I live by the inverse proportion principle. The more she hates it, the better it must be! Thank you and a big hug.
Cheers guys - great (and fun!) review! The two other points worth mentioning is (i) that there are additional filters provided by depth and rate dials which further add to the soundscape that this pedal offers and (ii) that this is fully polyphonic. But totally agree with your comments that: - This is a game changer compared to predecessor SYB-3 and SYB-5 pedals; - No need for an app / midi / pc editing; - Flawless tracking; - Inspires creativity and is entertainment gold!
I think you're going to need an SY-1 vs C4 showdown. They're both pretty amazing!! Now I just need to figure out how to reproduce some of those sounds out of my GT-1B!!
Shocked this comment sat for 4 years without someone weighing in. I own both and the C4 is way better. Especially if you want good presets (via the app) right away. It’s also better if you want the editing depth.
This is probably the best pedal released by boss for bass in a long time. It’s a winner. You can either use the send return and run it separate from other tones as it’s own synth in the mix….or go full on. It’s insanely useable and fun. If you love crossing over synths and guitars you will flip on this pedal.
I'm a Prog-Metal bassist/vocalist in a Thrash band. This would be absolutely PERFECT....... for doing cool, experimental recordings on my own. 😆 Dang it. I shouldn't have watched this because I now really want one.
Is it possible with this pedal to simulate the Bass Synth sounds from artists of the 80s like Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, Human League, etc with a bass guitar ?
I have 2 on my bass pedal board in parallel..I handle a lot of key..string and synt h parts really fills in the sound of my 3 piece band plus my solos are insane
I have many boss pedals, Flanders , chorus, etc.. along with other brands. This is the first boss battle I've heard in a long time that I've liked. I heard you say that there's a Looper in it? Also can you sync it to a drum machine? If that's the case it would be great. Thanks for your video.
2 questions about tracking: 1: in the last clip, you are playing fiths on the organ setting, does that mean is the pedal polyphonic in all modes? 2: will the pedal track down to a low D? Thanks!
That “dynamic readiness” thing has been a basic function of synth pedals for a long time. There’s a different response for legato...it’s not a new feature by any stretch.
@Samurai Studios I get it completely. You couldn't possibly use this live unless you're willing to stop in the middle of your set to find sounds. Good luck to you, 'cause i'm buying this one: ua-cam.com/video/x4PmNWI44kw/v-deo.html
Why Boss, oh why? Just bought the C4 and cannot stop fiddling around. Now with this one in line there's no chance for some serious practise time in the next 6 month.
@@burricanecarter I absolutely fell in love with the c4 from what I've heard in videos so far. I only just now realized there's only a $40 difference between the two, I guess I'll have to do some thinking but right now I'm more learning towards c4
My infatuation with the C4 was short-lived. Lot's of fun presets in the community. I found none of them usable in a gig setting, however. All it did was foster new appreciation for my Future Impact.
@@StuntcatTV patch cables between pedals. I should elaborate. 3 synth pedals in 15years. So they seem to have a 5 year lifespan. I'm not calling that terrible, but they are fairly expensive for a stomper.
I dont want to be a debbie downer...but; I dont hear anything beyond a basic ring mod circuit, paired with any half decent phaser( that has a step phase fuction) run in parallel with an octave pedal. Not really a "synth" just heavy digital interpretation of analog modulation. So sure it could replace 3 units, but youd give up way more functionality.
My favorite review of the pedal so far. The only one where the player actually tries to do something musical. And its fun.
Now if Boss will send them to retailers rather than only to all the UA-camrs.
No kidding

@Robert Redfern I'm convinced that when you order certain pedals from Boss, you have to stay on it like you would the freaking stock market.

Now i know what Les Claypool is using at the Antipop Album ;)
Min. 1.07
Imagine if they had this in the 80’s! Love the finger style to slap bass bit. Most interesting.
Bass synth pedals: Your band will kill you if you bring one with you, but at least you can have fun at home!
Why do they kill? Ehy angry??
Because keyboardist is lover of guitarist and have car
Depends on the genre
Sounds like the wrong band.
My band is encouraging me to buy this pedal because se can’t find a keyboardist.
The sound at 2.03 is FANTASTIC!!
Just slow it down a bit and I sense an awesome cover of New Orders' Blue Monday coming on!

2:03 such a cool sound!
ummm... 11 synths with 11 variations = 11 x 11 = 121 how the heck do you get 8055?!
I can kick out our keyboard player, at last!
Kraftwerk on a pedalboard! Awesome!

Is it possible with this pedal to simulate the Bass Synth sounds from artists of the 80s like Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, Human League, etc with a bass guitar ?
Definitely
This pedal is basically a SY 300 in a pedal format.
For sure but you are going to have to get creative with the adjustments. You can do it and make it your own at the same time.
00:30 Definitely part of your anthem! I thought about it as soon as I heard it and than you said that too 😉
Is the tracking good for the lower strings when played fast and down tuned?
This sounds a lot better than the “Bass Synthesizer” pedal
I have a syb-5 but this looks a million times better. It has sounds that I would actually use!
I've never heard "Little Drummer Boy" played like that before ..........sounds nice .
Now I need that pedal!
Mine will be arriving in a few weeks; can't wait!
You're as nuts as Henning .. I think that's a positive compliment ...
this pedal is already included in some boss processor pedalboard?

There’s an FX Loop, but not a looper like in the RC pedals
Flanders? Ned? 😂
Cool effect , i love this electro side sounding .
For God's sake, when Boss WHEN??
Randomly checking UA-cam videos. Didn't expect The Hirsch Effekt without warning. :D
It's cool , but i leave synth parts to the keyboard player. I can get synth like funky sounds with the Boss OC 5 octave pedal.
Nice!
4:11-4:21 sounds like what cliff burton used in 1984
2 questions about tracking:
1: in the last clip, you are playing fiths on the organ setting, does that mean is the pedal polyphonic in all modes?
2: will the pedal track down to a low D?

yes, it's fully polyphonic and I think it's doing well in most settings on the low b string
Nothing beats the C4 Synth!
I have both the C4 and Future Impact. My infatuation with the C4 has ended. For me the Future Impact is still King.
What, seriously?! What's sold you on the Future Impact over the C4?
Get to the choppa
Just make a pedal that makes the bass into a midi controller!
pls
@Nicholas White got any footage of it controlling a synth? Like a mother 32, neutron, or what have you?
It work fine when you make chords using the organ settings??? 🤔
Dammit, I need a second job! Take my money, Boss!
I can't figure out what the real sound that the synthesiser is making? Even the vocals comes out from the synthesiser?
Dang man this is such a cool pedal I love it. :D
Well done my man!
Arnold Schwarzenegger promoting bass gear, all I’ve ever wanted
GOT TO HAVE GOOD SENSE TO USE IT
Can it do Falco riffs though?
I clicked just for the bass in the thumbnail, does anyone know what it is?
That’s the Musicvox Spaceranger
That “dynamic readiness” thing has been a basic function of synth pedals for a long time. There’s a different response for legato...it’s not a new feature by any stretch.
This is exactly what has improved massively in recent years. Better chips, more accuracy and a wider dynamic range
What's the point of a pedal that can give you over 100 sounds if you can't store presets?

Nope, any standard 9V power supply (center negative) will do
Why Boss, oh why? Just bought the C4 and cannot stop fiddling around. Now with this one in line there's no chance for some serious practise time in the next 6 month.
Is the C4 midi capable?
C4 > Boss sy1
I say that as a Boss fanboy.
if I mic my gongs into my interface, can I put this b/t the out put and monitor?!
That’s a rather unlikely use and might not even work
Ehx mel9 b9 Synth 9 in one pedal 😁
Nice calculations, I thought 11x11=121
One question, does the bass low end remain?
You can mix wet/dry
Geez, this or c4 synth? (if I can rack up the money for it)

how in the world did you get 8k by doing 11x11?
Read it again. He spells BOSS with 8055.
This pedal or syb-5??
THIS!
Boss pedals are built like a tank? I've gone through 3 boss synth pedals. Just ordered the source audio. Maybe it'll last longer
Are you using a sledgehammer to engage them?
Yes, I never had problems with any boss pedals. If you’ve gone thorough 3 of them, I think the rest of your pedals should be taking in to care.
Are you using patch cables or solid connectors?
Dude, the bass channel ran over one with a car and set it on fire and it still worked
@@StuntcatTV patch cables between pedals. I should elaborate. 3 synth pedals in 15years. So they seem to have a 5 year lifespan. I'm not calling that terrible, but they are fairly expensive for a stomper.
The boss sy-1 sounds better through the PA instead of an bass amp.
Yeah

On bass, all the sounds seems awfully similar except for the organ settings. I was disappointed.
