Thank you for sharing! I’ll be visiting Laura and Almanzo Wilder resting places in Marshfield Mo this Spring when some of the Little House on the Prairie cast members come out to the Missouri Cherry Blossom festival.

Thanks Brenda! That's good to hear. My next two videos will be from Walnut Grove, MN where the tv series was based on. Stopped by their museum and they had quite a few items from the show on display. Have a great night :)

I didn't know it was a true family ! I remember to listen this series when I was a child. Thanks for this video ! Greetings, Annie

Thanks Annie! Glad I could share with you. Yes the books were based on the story of a real life family and then later on a tv series. I've never watched/read Little House on the Prairie but I hear the show is very different from the books. Happy Halloween to you and André! 🎃

Laura Ingles Wilder wrote the books. Based on her and her family's life. Her Daughter Rose helped her with later books ( in the series) and books after her death.
The Little House on the Prairie series with Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert as Laura was an excellent adaptation to T.V. There were many differences between the two. But that's how most of us got introduced to them. And it was some of the most watched series at the time. Still a classic to this day. Right up there with The Walton's, who were also a true family. That started with a Book Spencer's Mountain. And a movie of the same title.

Who were the others shown after the Ingalls? I know they must've held significance to the stories and the Ingalls, just don't recall the names.

      Robert Abey Boast 1:32
"Mr. Boast appeared as a character in several of Laura Ingalls Wilder's books. He met the Ingalls family in 1879 when he and Charles Ingalls worked on the railroad together, and both families eventually settled in DeSmet, South Dakota. Born in Canada, Boast traveled to Iowa at the age of 19 where he started farming and met his future wife, Ella Rosina Peck. Mr. Boast and his wife Ella had no children of their own."
      www.findagrave.com/memorial/9908785/robert-abey-boast
      Reverend Edward Brown (1:52)
"In 1880 he removed to De Smet, South Dakota and organized the First Congregational Church there, serving as pastor until his resignation on his 70th birthday. It was at De Smet that he became friends with the Ingalls family. Laura did not like Reverend Brown's "crude, loud style of preaching," none the less he on August 25, 1885 at his home, referred to as Brown's Hill, performed the wedding for the future author, Laura Ingalls, and Almanso Wilder. He would also become a character in two of Laura Ingalls Wilder's books, "Little Town on the Prairie" and "These Happy Golden Years." His adopted daughter, Ida Wright, was one of Laura's best friends when they were teenagers and she also appears in her books."

Who is Caroline Ingalls Swanzy born 1870-1946?

    • @kcvids816
      @kcvids816  3 місяці тому +1

Caroline Celestia Ingalls Swanzey (/ˈɪŋɡəlz ˈswɑːnzi/; August 3, 1870 - June 2, 1946) was the third child of Charles and Caroline Ingalls, and was born in Montgomery County, Kansas. She was a younger sister of Laura Ingalls Wilder, who is known for her Little House books.
Carrie Ingalls Swanzey was described as small, thin and frail, and, according to Laura's books, suffered the most of all the Ingalls family members through the deprivations of the hard winter of 1880-1881. Ingalls was not constantly ill, but she never enjoyed robust physical health during her life. She traveled to several places in her young adulthood seeking a more comfortable climate, including Colorado and Wyoming.
During her late-teen years Ingalls was a typesetter for the De Smet News and, subsequently, other newspapers throughout the state for Edward Louis Senn. She settled in Keystone in 1911.
In 1912, she married widower David N. Swanzey, who is best-remembered for his part in the naming of Mount Rushmore. She became stepmother to Swanzey's two children: Mary and Harold. Harold was one of the workers who helped carve Mount Rushmore, and his name can be found on the granite walls below the monument. He was later killed in a car accident in Keystone, South Dakota on April 9, 1938. David also died in 1938.
With her sister Grace's help, Swanzey took care of their blind sister Mary after their mother's death in 1924. Like Grace and Laura, Swanzey suffered from diabetes, and died of complications from the disease in Keystone, South Dakota, on June 2, 1946, at age 75. She was buried in the De Smet Cemetery.

Excelente video.
