This was highly enjoyable fellas. Love the short stories about knife histories, whether its family heirlooms, or the testing of prototypes. I've had an Izula II and 6 for years. I really kinda thought that I had all of my bases covered, and they still do. I went down the knife rabbit hole though, some will know what I'm talking about... high end steels, custom makers... I was one of "those guys" asking ESEE/Rowen to make a few knives in a super steel but like Patrick and his RAT3 w/serrations, I wasn't patient. All because I don't feel that I take care of the oxidation well enough, though years old, those two knives are in great shape to this day. Recently I had some vine/hedge/briar issues at a property and snapped a machete on a pretty light vine. Yes, I used it to pry the vine away from a building but it was a very thin part of the vine, it shouldn't have broken. I bought an Ontario SP53 and a Tramontina machete to replace the broken machete. In the process I find out that Ontario was closing their doors. That, and they way knife & 2A are being treated in today's society led me to buy any quality lifetime knife/tool that I might need. Now I have a nice cache of your products, enough to outlast me and my gal. (Side note: try finding good tools to hand cut weeds/grass without getting on your hands & knees. The hardware stores are full of expensive junk these days.) There are still a couple ESEE knives that I need to procure, the CR 2.5, PR4, but I'll get them in time. I watched and commented on the video where you broke the 3/S35VN. That knife and the Izula in S35VN have become my everyday everywhere companions and they do just what I had always hoped an ESEE knife in a SS would do, slice... amazingly. Long winded, I know. Thanks for testing and building knives/tools that we can rely on.
This is why I like esee knives. Two of the main faces of the company put a video on there own you tube channel promoting other knives. Very cool. Thanks.

you guys need to do some torture tests to that xancudo. You did the esee 3 and broke the blade! but it was definitely being abused. 3 key tests i would think should be incorporated is, how sharp can it stay with survival and edc tasks, how fast will it rust, and a pry or drop test. since you said the hole is for climbers what if they drop it but find it when they come down? also how hard to resharpen in an outdoor survival setting if needed since its s35vn and that can compare why you choose 1095 for your core knives used in same situations. also ever think of doing a custom shop online? BM seems to be the only one and if SC or you guys made a custom shop...or build kits. 👍👍👍👍 keep it up. you guys are 100%.
There are tons of youtubers who doesnt even have half the knowledge of these guys yet they make "gear" videos talking mostly about size of the blade, steel type and bla hla bla. Look at these guys so to the point, and you can tell they are doing this with lots of experience. And the fact that patrick doesnt know steel types is funny. Keep up the good work, hope one day i will take a class as well.
Hmmmm, what would we like to see next.... boy, that's a rabbit hole! I'd love to see what kinds of packs you use, radio setups, cooking setups, and sleep/shelter setups. I could go on, but those were the first to come to mind. Thanks guys! Love the content.
@@RandallsAdventureESEE Good deal! I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with going forward. I always enjoy seeing what other guys use, especially guys that actually put their gear to good use.
I love Esee knives. Super cool of you guys to show some love for knives that aren't your own. There are probably no knife makers that only own their own brand. Respect to you guys!
I have a few favorites but your Darian machete is my new favorite I got it by accident I ordered a libertariat machete but got the Darian by mistake so I tried it and I can't believe how handy that thing is I carry it on long hikes now and just love it more and more awesome tool guys ! I would love to see you guys bust out your lite machete and do some stuff with that in a video and maybe cover the libertariat machete too
Great video guys. I'm an old eagle scout and just recently picked up an esee 3 and izula. They are awesome knives and with the molle backs they hook up to my 5.11 packs perfectly.
Randall's Adventure / ESEE so does the speed control UA-cam provides. Luckily you both annunciate clearly. 😂 👍 keep kicking ass and sharing the knowledge. Best wishes.
Just picked up coupe izula, OD kit and black. Great and durable knives and will use for secondary self defense item. Next knife is the ESSE 4HM-B. Would like to see durable knife torcher test on the ESSE knives. The 1095 carbon steel is awesome on the ESSE knives. ESSE has sold me on the full tang knife and my days of purchasing pocket knives are over, “I have tons already, not sayinG the are useless”. If I’m gonna put my life on the line it’s gonna be a knife that I trust!! It is impressive how you guys review other knives and speaks towards character and honesty. Thumbs up to you guys! Great videos!

Nice video, not everyone talks in such a fine manner about competing products. Many companies should follow you guys, by the way my favorite knives for now are Esee’s
Look forward to seeing more from this series. It's good to see other non-sanctioned brands in your pockets and in action. And that you don't have to have the latest and greatest space age steel to survive in the woods or in the city. What brand of socks do you guys wear, why, and do your choices change with the seasons and or weather conditions? I'm a backpacker/hiker so my survival starts with my feet. A stationary Bushcraft camp is cool and I'm all for it, but let's see how or if your choice of tools change when you go from your central bushcraft location to satellite locations.
Glad to see my Spydies and Swiss Army getting some attention from the pros :) I've carried both since high school. The only things that I've added/removed over the years are a couple Gerber plier multitools and the SOG power assist multitool I settled on and keep in a pack, the leatherman raptor sheers, and now an Esee 3" fixed blade just because I'm around more things now that can benefit from having a fixed blade.
@@RandallsAdventureESEE That they do, and somehow an office monkey like me always ended up needing multiple at the same time at least once a month. Until I started working from home, now I only need what I want to use when I'm doing things :P
I edc the Esee 6 daily...I think y'all call it scout-carry, horizontal across bottom of the back. Not really, but I do when on feet all day/in the timber and its great to have something with pork & beans dangling to get the dang job done.🇺🇸 Loved the video fellas, I look forward to all UA-cam vids from y'all!💪
Great video!!! I'd like to say my first knife,RAT original (before it was called the Junk-alas).That knife was strapped to my ruck through Dessert Storm(1),Bosnia,Kosovo, and is on my go bag in the woods.I also carry, Pathfinder Knife works Mountain Lion. And (rotate) Rat 2 folder,Spyderco Tenacious, swak camper, benchmade(various),and CRKT minimalist bowie.
Nice video, boys!! Have to say a bit surprised there weren't more Esee in there 😁😁. However that's a testimony for your character and honesty, showing appreciation for different makers and styles. P.S. the PR and RAT3 look deadly😎😎
Keep these coming. Great stuff guys. I would love to hear more about which blades you like. I love the new handles on the ESSE blades. I have and ESSE three, my second but the scales make it. I like my RATs and some Cold Steel folders as well as the Izulas.
Backpacks, boots, axes would all be great! Maybe an update on putting a fire tin together, with emphasis on what you’d need depending on region? Northeast vs. Georgia for example. Thanks!
Great video and knife selection. I usually carry a Joker Campero when camping. But I just got an Izula and gonna see how that works as my main knife for a few days in Sipsey Wilderness...heading out tomorrow. I also got a Zancudo as my small camp folder.
I love my pr4 & candiru/with factory micarta scales but not the sheaths so I bought custom kidex sheaths for both from the same guy & he provided these straps for the pr4 but work on both. Great option for great knives, ought to offer a choice on sheaths. Some of the plastic sheaths Esee offer is much to be desired.
I think you should do a special with what is coming for Esee, show off some prototypes. Along with a what gear you like based on the weather/seasons. Maybe have some guest on from time to time.
Another great video I also carry a spyderco pm2 daily along with a Leatherman wave the esse 3 is next for me and the izula is probably one of the best field dressing knives out there
I have several hundred dollar outdoor knives in several super steels but I’m always drawn back to ESEE and specially the Izula. It was my first real outdoor knives and it will be my last! What else knife could you use for construction all day, strop the blade and use it the rest of the day in the woods?
I purchased the pr4 and jg 5 and love them both there a great design for all purpose camp and bushcraft chores I’m glad I added them to my Esee collection I use the Esee 5 in my survival kit along with my Tops BOB
I was hoping you guys were gonna do CPM for the CR 2.5 . Once you do that I will have 0 need for my Havalon Piranta. It reminds me of that knife. I love the Black Oxide but for a Hunting Knife I prefer some that can withstand the elements with 0 effort . I was never really Esse Fan at all until about years or so ago . Now it's the knives I use . The Izula II is my EDC. Xancudo is another one that I'm gonna be trying out soon. My only regret is not trying Esse Knives sooner .
Just added and trying the PR4 to a daily carry. Before that is the AGK. Hands down for me the best fixed blade edc. It’s almost cheating carrying that knife. Super easy to keep and edge and the handle to blade length makes it perfect for almost anything.
I love this series ! Tell us more about knifes you like and some storys behind it 😊 i love my cr 2.5 as my edc and outdoors backup and i love my brand new pr4 as my main knife in the woods 😊 Esee team you make the knife world to an better place 🥰 esee guys are realy professional 😊 What do you think about an bow drill video comparsion with videos of esee users? Or some hard use video comparsion of esee knifes ? I can send you some good videos from my batoning tests with the cr2.5, 4, expat libertariat, junglas 2 , pr4. Nice to watch 😃 Best regards Alex
we've used it a lot...it's a really nice blade and I know Patrick really likes it...There are plenty of folks out there doing way better reviews from us...but rest assured if we are using it...we see value in it and like it.
I learned a long time ago these big 1/4” thick knives just aren’t for me..I carried a $10 Morakniv 511 for years, they certainly aren’t the nicest or best looking knives on the market but they are hard to beat..I tired to replace that knife for years but most of the knives I bought as a replacement were too thick..I tried to replace it with the ESEE 4,a Ka Bar Becker BK2,a Gerber StrongArm,etc..I didn’t truly find any knives I felt were good replacements and upgrades over that Mora 511 until I bought a RAT 3.then I got the ESEE 3hm and liked it even better than the RAT 3..I’m also a big fan of the Bradford Guardian 4,with the big choil it’s not gonna be most people’s idea of a decent option for a bushcraft knife but it works great for me..here lately I’ve been using my S35VN ESEE 3 more than anything though..I got super excited when y’all announced it and was checking all over the Internet everyday until I finally found one..I got mine at New Graham Knives serial number 0047 and it has been amazing, even better than expected.Im a fan of S35VN and the new 3D scales are fantastic..I hope an S35VN ESEE 3HM is will be coming next..the ESEE 3 is incredible IMO,I love a full flat grind and I like the thin blade of the 3 much better than the 4(which is great in its own right though I would love to see a modified version of the ESEE 4 with a thinner blade and S35VN blade steel
Thanks for watching and for the info...a MORA is hard to beat at that price point for sure....also, Bradford makes phenomenal stuff as well. Glad to hear the E3 in S35 is serving you well!!
I'm looking to purchase, bit unsure about which to get 1095 or sv models, enjoyed your testing, since I don't plan on using hardcore maybe the sv steel may hold its edge longer. The problem I am having is knowing if Amazon sites have fakes. I couldn't find an esse store on amazon and the website with the local store, the link doesn't work. I live in Oakdale, PA. Is there an easy place to purchase from online that offers genuine equipment or can you recommend an Amazon supplier?
Prime Valley is our number 1 Amazon dealer. The only blade experience counterfeit issues is the Izula (Serial No 51455)...everything else is good to go...buy with confidence from dealers where you can find inventory.
Thanks guys. Very helpful. As a beginner who is interested in learning outdoor skills and starting to build up my knowledge, I am putting together my list wish of tools. I would like your advice. I own folding pocket knives and Swiss Army knifes (think suburban edc) but no fixed blades. Remember I am just learning and my short term goal is to learn enough to get me into a good class one day. What do you recommend for me, do I start off with an inexpensive mora knife to learn the craft with? Or do I choose something more substantial like an esee as those knives seem to be the tools that I ultimately will want to use in the field? Keep these coming! Thanks
Focus on Software (skills) over hardware. A Mora is a great place to start and then learn to get the MOST out of each tool you add to the quiver....we have videos up on our channel that focus on skills but there are WAY more out there that are better than ours....pick a topic and start diving in!
Curious, why didnt we get a low ride kydex belt sheath option for the Ashley Game Knife (AGK) ? This is the only thing keeping me from instantly buying it. Thanks.
no man's land simply put to keep costs down. No matter what sheath we put a knife in 1/2 the folks won’t like it. JRE Industries offers some great sheaths at very affordable prices as well.
break away tabs you can get on Amazon or a simple chain that will break away. I use the Wazoo lanyard personally and I don't think it would support the load to accomplish the task.
@@RandallsAdventureESEE are the knives with different logos made with any better or worse quality? It seems that most people who got their ESEE’s a while ago have the skull logo while the newer blades have the ESEE logo. I know some companies as they get larger begin to slack on their quality control. Just wanting to make sure that the newer knives aren’t any less quality than the older ones
I wish Buck would offer the 110 using aluminum or magnesium alloy instead of brass. It would reduce the weight without sacrificing strength or durability, and probably be cheaper to manufacture
So this guy is telling us that he did not like the lock on the SAK so he bought a better one for himself and gave the one he did not like to his son? That's parenting in reverse. We sure give the safest stuff to use to our children. I think the SAK is the most well known and best selling knife. About the designs. Sure there are some good designs there everybody uses. It's a normal design. Adding jimping is foolish. It has no use at all. I like the design of the ESEE CR2.5 actually as a small backpacker fixed blade but the ESEE is the wrong steel and the wrong sheath. So I ordered a Chinese made one made in rust resistant steel and with a kydex sheath and for a fraction of the price. Now that's a knife you just throw in your backpack and never take it out as a 'just in case' small fixed blade. Not the ESEE because it will rust away and the sheath will rot. You guys don't travel, do you? Randall's Adventure is in the US and only a specific part.
I would love to see y’all make a leather scout carry sheath with the kydex/plastic sheath, molded inside the leather. That would be an awesome sheath and I bet a lot of people would like it.

What else knife could you use for construction all day, strop the blade and use it the rest of the day in the woods?
Great video - thank you...
I purchased the pr4 and jg 5 and love them both there a great design for all purpose camp and bushcraft chores I’m glad I added them to my Esee collection I use the Esee 5 in my survival kit along with my Tops BOB
Glad to hear they are serving you well! Tops makes some great products as well....all the best.
We can't think you enough for your support! Glad to hear our products are serving you well.
I love this series ! Tell us more about knifes you like and some storys behind it 😊 i love my cr 2.5 as my edc and outdoors backup and i love my brand new pr4 as my main knife in the woods 😊
Esee team you make the knife world to an better place 🥰 esee guys are realy professional 😊
What do you think about an bow drill video comparsion with videos of esee users? Or some hard use video comparsion of esee knifes ? I can send you some good videos from my batoning tests with the cr2.5, 4, expat libertariat, junglas 2 , pr4. Nice to watch 😃
Best regards
Alex
Any tool is good if you can operate it. Greetings from Patrick & ESEE Knives. I love ESEE :) PR4 :)
Please do a real review of the Canadian forest knife please !!
we've used it a lot...it's a really nice blade and I know Patrick really likes it...There are plenty of folks out there doing way better reviews from us...but rest assured if we are using it...we see value in it and like it.
@@RandallsAdventureESEE but there aren’t any videos about this particular knife sadly
Design a candiru like a tertiary please 🙏
I would like to see some axes.
We will probably do an Ax/Saw combo very soon.
How about belts , Shoes , wallets , and favorite clothing ,
I'm looking to purchase, bit unsure about which to get 1095 or sv models, enjoyed your testing, since I don't plan on using hardcore maybe the sv steel may hold its edge longer.
Great video
appreciate it!
My favorite knife is the esee 5. 100 percent violence
@@thelonelyelite1 120% violence...
Man I wish I had your guys job.
Larissa&Griffin Beckwith I won’t lie....it ain’t a bad gig.
I can take my 5 and a 2.5 and live in the woods forever.
That's an awesome set of skills!!!
Go! 😂
I can live in the woods with a toothpick and a Swiss army knife. No, that's MacGyver.
Can't I just use a cheaper kitchen knife instead of the CR2.5? Like an Old Hickory paring knife?
2 years later and we are still waiting for the AGK in 3d and 3.0
yep...and we are still buried in work and doing our best to meet demand.
Awesome
What Methods do you use to prevent the Risk of Strangulation when carrying Neck Knifes?
break away tabs you can get on Amazon or a simple chain that will break away. I use the Wazoo lanyard personally and I don't think it would support the load to accomplish the task.
What’s the difference between the two ESEE logos?
Just the design. Skull logo is for Randall’s Adventure & Training and was only on a small number of models. ESEE placard is our standardized logo.

It would reduce the weight without sacrificing strength or durability, and probably be cheaper to manufacture
go to bucks site they have the buck 110 slim
👍
Those first two knives remind me a lot of one of my favorite knives: the RB3 by ESEE
similar but different for sure....both are thinner than the RB3.

May I ask where you are from? Your accent is very distinctive. We don't hear such accents in Canada.
Patrick and I both live in North Ga. Thanks for watching.
I believe the Opinel knife is the most sold pocket knife ever...the Buck is a beauty but it is five times the price and is highly copied.
the Opi is hard to be for certain!

thorin693 man you are fast. I just posted it!
