I feel like Black Friday shouldn’t be a thing.

Hell, we don’t even need Black Friday anymore. We have Cyber Monday these days.

I'm so glad the only time I ever had to work on black Friday was as a security guard at a construction site. Sure I was stuck outside in a snow storm, but I didn't have to deal with any crazy people.

Being forced to endure a mid-video ad is a worse horror story than anything in this video.

The plugin you're looking for is called Sponsor Block. Automaticaly skips forwards past baked in ads.

The one & only time we did the black friday thing in the UK it ended up just like a typical story shared here, people got battered & bruised, shops were robbed left right & center, complete & utter pandemonium. Thats why the UK's black friday is only an online thing, which is something the US should follow our example on.

In my time in retail I’ve managed to avoid working anywhere that gets too crazy on Black Friday, apparently a big home improvement chain and a book store are not where it’s at. But one of the Black Fridays I was at home improvement chain I was covering the self checkouts, making sure no one stole and reassuring people that the discounts will apply once you hit the pay button. I got one guy who just reeked of alcohol trying to check out and helped him figure out how to insert his cash. He finishes up, thanks me, and then decides to tell me “I’m SOOO drunk right now. Wish me luck on the road!” and left. I tried convincing my manager to let me call the cops before he got into an accident and killed someone but he refused and told me to stay at the checkouts. Manager got fired about a month later and I just hope that guy made it home safe.

I worked at walmart electronics. That was hell. Before that i worked at large southeast sporting goods store that pushed black friday the day of to 11am, when everyone else started it on thursday at 5pm. It was absolutely deader than a normal work day and it was glorious

Friend worked black friday last year.
She was mute from her throat being strained so much from previous days working. It was very difficult since she was not able to call people for help and had to use rudimentory sign language to communicate.

Story 6 - Having to work something like a Black Friday while you are in an arm sling and full of painkillers...that is a sure sign that you need to dump that job.

I have one of those stories except it was more of a comedy because well I pushed cart and someone battery died so someone else went to jump start them but it caused their battery to die as well so they ended up blocking a path and the company that was on standby got them both charged an out of there

I refuse to shop Black Friday sales. Why is it even a thing here in Australia? Only really started the last few years by retailers trying to gouge more revenue. They couldn't even come up with something unique.

When i worked at Walmart we had a guy brandish a gun when he tried to get back in a line he walked away from. Needless to say the uniformed police we had on hand didn't approve.

Does working in fast food on a Black Friday count. Not my story but an coworker. Lady came in after a day of shopping ordered 200 Chicken Sliders at Happy Hour which the sliders and a few other things are reduced. The worker's were already working on several other orders and told the lady that it would be a few minutes as the chicken also had to be cooked for the sliders and you could only cook so much at a time.. To which the lady screamed how can this be fast food when i have to wait a few minutes. The screaming went on for a while as the staff just ignored the lady. They still made her food but here was good karma was when she ordered the Sliders it was a Minute after the time happy hour ended and normally we are nice about a few minutes and such but not that day nor was manager on shift at the time having it.
That lady screamed a fit about being charge full price when she ordered at happy hour. The manager just pointed on the recite the time she ordered and there was nothing she could do. Now there were other people behind the lady that did get the happy hour price for sliders and few free items do to having to deal with that women but it was done out of site of that woman.

Mine isnt the typical mad house fighting story but more of a jack ass customer getting yelled at
I worked Gamestop at the time and for whatever reason right when we opened black friday morning this dude walks in carrying 2 massive bags full of trade ins and we were not allowed to turn him away so one of our registers was tied up for close to an hour processing this guys trade and other customers yelling at him saying things like you really could not do that later? or come in before today to do those? My manager at the time was ready for a blood bath over it but thankfully it never went beyond yelling at the guy.

I used to be a Lyft Driver (wouldn't recommend, but I digress). I was driving for a few hours on Black Friday early in the morning. I pick up a Walmart Employee who was on the way to their soul-crushing Black Friday shift. They had their radio on and once we got in range, I could hear the chaotic Black Friday radio communications. Suddenly I hear "Wait, that customer just drew a gun!" on the radio. As I'm turning into the parking lot I slow down and ask the employee, who had such a dead and defeated look in their eyes. Needless to say, I felt really bad.
Me: "So...I heard the radio...you sure you want to go in there?"
    Them: "It's fine."
Me: "You sure? If you want, I can stall a bit until the person with the gun leaves, or I can take you back home if you want."
Them: "This is par for the course on Black Friday. I'll be okay."
    Me: "Okay. Stay safe, okay?"
    Them: "Yeah, sure, thanks."
I pull up to the doors and drop the employee off. And of course my timing is absolutely impeccable. The employee walks in and at the same time a pair of angry-looking guys come storming out, one waving a gun around. And now I'm immediately thinking "Oh hell no they better not start shooting otherwise I'm going to floor my Camry in their direction and hope that 3300 lbs of steel and rubber and plastic and whatever else will stop them."
Thankfully, the crazy dudes left without much more incident, and I vowed never to drive on Black Friday again. Also, no this was not in the Southern US, this happened in Minnesota. Oh, and the Walmart employee did tip and give 5-stars. I hope they're okay, wherever they are.

I used to work retail, and I will never go back. I think every single person should work in service of others for at least 2 years. If your popping in for one thing get a basket 🧺. The amount of time I've seen people popping in for one item then trying to carry everything. Also don't go shopping after a night out. Or at least wear underwear. Trut me.
