I'm 46. I started listening to U2 when I was 13. Saw my first U2 show in 1989 (Lovetown). Went to University in 93. Had a nervous breakdown in 94 from stress. Ended up having a rough few years (stuck in a moment) then in 2000, was feeling completely lost and had almost given up on life. Then I hear the opening of Beautiful Day on the radio. It woke me up out of my depression and got me to take on life again. I really resonated with the song "Stuck in a Moment" , then in 2001, 9/11 happened and the world changed again. I decided to travel to Portugal that year and I spent a year living in Europe working as an Engineer for Volkswagen . I played that album every day when I drove to work, living on the other side of the world. That album kinda saved my life. Thanks U2 . I'm still here and life is good again. God Bless you 💓
I'm 19, and I've been a U2 fan my whole life. I've been playing drums for 16 years, and guitar for 4, and all I want is to see U2 live. I've never seen them live, and I just hope I get a chance before they even retire. What I wouldn't give to have been alive in the 80s, to see them at Red Rocks and Dortmund, LA when Joshua Tree came out, Madison Square Garden 1987, ZooTV and Pop, Slane Castle, my favorite live show, Elevation and Vertigo tours, Rose Bowl 360, Glastonbury 2011, Paris 2015, and the last two tours. Of I was a teenager when they first got big in Red Rocks, I would have gone to every single one of these.
17 years old guitar player here (even though I'm still very average at it), I feel you. Nothing, absolutely nothing tops 80s - 90s U2. Somebody give me a time machine! I could watch those Zoo TV, Red Rocks or Elevation shows for hours and the amazement wouldn't cease... It's simply touching how much emotion, soul and depth they put into their shows. It's like watching humanity at it's very best, a surreal sensation... I was lucky enough to see them live in Berlin during their last tour. I strongly believe they will be back, and you will get your chance to see them live! What song would you love to see performed? Personally my absolute favourite is Until The End Of The World, it just speaks to me on a level that I've never known before. It is absolutely stunning, deep, otherworldly. Unfortunately when I saw them playing it live, I didn't know it yet, I couldn't enjoy it as much as I would today...
@@novembergold4144 also there are so many songs I love for the guitar. Bad and Streets are incredibly, but I also love Beautiful Day, Walk On and New Years Day. Sunday Bloody Sunday, and so many others. I can't pick a favorite!
@@slinky_malinki5330 these are all amazing! It's true, I could probably never do a ranking of my top 10 favourite U2 songs. There are times when a particular song that I'd never really noticed before suddenly speaks to me. It also depends on the seasons, guess who's listening to october in autumn and joshua tree in summer haha
Hey, you talk from my heart! I can’t but agree with all you said! And what a coincidence, I’m 18 and also a big fan of the band since I can remember. It’s so nice to hear other people of my age talking about their love for the band.. I also play the guitar and love to play U2 songs, mostly Bad and Streets because I love to play with the delay effect. So glad I was able to see them in Hamburg two years ago.. even now only thinking about that particular night thrills me and leaves me with the thought that I want to see them again so so badly. It would be so great if there was another tour in the next years!
I listened to this album as a teenager, changed my life. In a Little While, one pf the best recordings they ever did. Truly a masterpiece. I remember being front row to their 360 show, it was a perfect moment in time. Absolutely breath taking show. This remastered version is awesome, reminds me of how great all the fans are and what beautiful community to be a part of. Thank you!
Saw U2 for the first time at Birmingham NEC 2001 the day after my 18th Birthday. Was only my third gig and it was a life changing experience. Still have vivid memories of Gone, Until The End of The World, New York and The Fly. Loved every second.
I have had an obsession with U2 since I was in 5th grade. I had heard the song "Peace on Earth" and had been so mesmerized by the sheer beauty of the words and music, that I listened to the All That You Cant Leave Behind album 2 to 3 times a day. The album was about hope and fearing the unknown, and accepting fate, and finding grace. The album and others albums from U2 have shaped my view f the world and my personality.
I clearly remember how I fell in love with this album when I first heard it through my very good friend 'Bruno' while we were sailing on a ship as we started our career in the Navy..have always loved U2 but after this album, I rediscovered the band and now they are imprinted in my DNA..!! I was so lucky to attend their last concert for Joshua Tree in Mumbai on 15th Dec'19. Thank you for all the wonderful music you have given us over the years...Love from India..🤘❤.
U2 has always been cool! Adam looks great - relaxed in his own skin. Also, no tattoos😉. New York is one of their best songs and seeing them perform it live was one of the best moments in the Elevaton tour. Luv them "Always."💖
“Grace” was also the inspiration for our daughters name, second name, to be clear. Listening to Grace always brought me to tears, dating back to it’s release. Now the song is tangled deeply with an amazing little girl who’s arrival was difficult. Grace has changed our world.
Been a fan of U2 for 30 years. A lot of my drumming style is based around Larry's style and my guitar playing has a lot of The Edge in it (so much so, that friends call me The Wedge), due to it all fitting within church songs
Can't believe it's been 20 years since this album was released. Although not my favourite U2 album there are some amazing songs on it and it's clearly an important record in their collection. As Bono said at the time; they wanted to reapply for the job of biggest band in the world.
What a lovely format. It was nice to have such talented people just modestly reflect on their memories of that album all those years ago, & Adam Clayton was truly unrecognizable! You would not believe he was the same guy who plays the bass in such a cool, laid back & 'rock star' way!
Yes, Literature prof or an upcoming Sean Connery role - yes. Slipping on a bass strap and noodling those strings aren’t the first things that come to mind- No- Walking through an adored architect’s prized structure or painter’s gallery of favorites pieces to display also seems like a reasonable possibility. He can do anything in our minds and his looks fit that notion brilliantly. We’re here for any incarnation of artistry and craft you choose to bring us Adam.
Your music save my life...ive seen this tour in Turin.... One of the greatest show of Elevation Tour.... I waiting for a new album.... We need of it!!!! Possible double... And very hard.... ❤️❤️❤️Love from Naples
I love the whole album but I feel it ends better than it starts. I’d add Peace on Earth and Grace to New York and WILATW and say those are the four best songs on the album. Even if they don’t get the love Elevation and Beautiful Day get.
I am so lucky to see their performance in December last year in South Korea in Joshua Tree tour before the COVID 19 pandemic. Happy to see they are fine.
It's just amazing, thanks for this already 20 years it's always crazy year after year, proud that south's France has his part for this amazing album.I didn't recognised Adam I looked each part of his face to tell to myself :yes it's true!this is him! Timeless music. Always a good inspiration from U2’s songs. I will for sure introduce them to my newborn son as he gets bigger. Yahweh and countless others go “into the heart” of a young man. Keep the music flowing.
