m.facebook.com/questions.php?question_id=3176339962479042 Guys please vote for stjepan on this fb poll, he is providing quality content absolutely free ,it is our duty to spend some time to make his channel famous.
You are the best chess teacher on youtube by far. Your lessons are to the point, in depth and comprehensable. Thank you for having them online for free!
This is the most thorough course on Caro-Kann I've found on the Internet. Should I mention this is free? Stjepan you are a god-sent, thanks! Switched to Caro-Kann as my main against e4, and now found this!
I like the Caro-Kann in blitz, but struggle with the advanced variation. This video was extremely helpful. Thank you very much. Agree with all comments below that you deserve more subscribers. Great job giving just the right amount of detail ... not too much or too little. Bravo!
Very well done, I might have to keep an eye on this series. Been looking for an alternative to my French and always wanted to try out the Caro-Kann but never got around to it. Maybe I can use this to kickstart it :-)
I think it's very flexible (which makes it deadly sometimes). And it's what I first started playing:) ...I'm actually trying to change it to the Spanish or the Sicilian. I hope you will like the variations in detail then:D any specific you'd like to see first perhaps?
Hanging Pawns just keep presenting it at your pace. Your intro was nice and well organised and you clearly knew what you were talking about! For me personally I've been attracted to CK because the exchance is more imbalanced than in the French. I would probably need specific lines against the Panov to trust playing it but could more or less get by in other lines although I still need deeper knowledge there. In any case will follow this series.
this channel is by far the best channel for beginners to learn how to think and to learn openings because you also show opening ideas and principles other than just theory. I can say that now I am prepared to play Ruy Lopez main line, Italian game many different lines, caro cann main line and Scandinavian defense many lines perfectly because of you
I like your balanced discussion very much. I like the way you get to the point with complete coverage of the important lines. I like the pace. The video is packed with information that I can unwrap by reviewing with a board in front of me. The discussion of theory is the perfect depth for a player of my caliber. Thank you very much!
Well, I always prepare before recording so I've done my notes in advance, but I don't use them while doing the video. They're bulletpoints of what I plan to talk about, everything else is my knowledge and ideas variably formulated:D And thanks:)
These are the best Caro-Kann videos I have seen so far. Good work. I like the way you point out the bad moves to avoid as well as the good moves. Also the recap you do on the lines at the end of each video is very helpful.
Good general treatment, thanks. I play the Caro-Kann, and lately have had lots of success with what's called the Gurgenidze Counterattack. Talk about a surprise variation from the main line! 1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. Nc3 b5!? 4. exd5 b4 5. N(somewhere) cxd5. Black occupies all the white squares on queenside--really on both sides--and proceeds to undermine the center. I started doing this because I found white to have too much of an advantage in the most common main line variation. You didn't mention it probably because it's so obscure and possibly questionable, but so far it seems sound to me.
Best Caro-Kann primer out there. People say its a simple opening for beginners, but there are so many variations that its a little tricky knowing what to do in each situation.
I got so confused on what to do and some good ideas both using and against the Caro Khan. This video was amazing and I will definitely watch the others
Really nice presentation thank you. I have played Caro for a long time but really just learned by trial and error against Stockfish. This really helps me get a better picture.
I know the Caro quite well. This is an excellent video. As another said, he gets right to the point, No waste of time ( we don't loose any tempos! ). Subbed and thank you!
Hi thanks a lot for the video series (I will see the others also) they are very well-explaining. I have a request in fact: could it be possible to make a short video to advise on how to plan chess self-study with let say (1 or 2 hours a day) and give an argument to why you would say so? As a beginner, I know that I have to study every phase of the game but I haven't found a good schedule about it. Many thanks anyway.
Hey Stjepan, what do the letters near "Caro-Kann defense" mean ? Those B10-B19 are some sort of classification of the openings or variations, maybe an archive or an effectiveness rating ?
Watched this video months ago and still watching it today. I would love to ask you specific questions on certain lines. I always play the caro against e4. I’ll just throw a question in here. In main line caro, after qa5+ what happens if white just plays c3, and also what happens if black plays bishop to d6 instead of e7. I would like to hear some reasoning behind piece placements. Great video man. I look forward to more of your videos.
After c3 the queen should just retreat to c7. e7 vs d6 for the bishop is a tricky question. One idea is Bd6 Qc7 0-0-0. The second one is Be7 0-0, but.. The main reason for playing Bd6 is to prevent an easy Bf4 from white. And thanks:) It's great to hear that you found the vid useful:)
Hanging Pawns thank you for responding so quickly. However there must have been some miscommunication. When I said “what happens after c3”, I meant the immediate c3 without white playing Bd2 first. If this happens, qc7 isn’t possible and blacks bishop stays nice on f4, not allowing any Bd6 ideas from black. Thank you for talking about two separate plans for black depending on the placement of the DSB, I find myself playing Bd6 and O-O, and while it feels solid it feels so drawish it isn’t even funny.
this channel is best for learning openings and variations....this channel must have subscribers....with your hard work your channel will soon become as famous as agadmator's chess channel.....keep up the good work....!
Not if he's not even an IM. Smart beginners learn from average players because their thoughts are more relatable, but most people go straight for GM content.
Hi I really enjoyed your videos on playing the Caro-kan which I am learning to play. I have found your videos very instructive and helpful to give me a better understanding of the opening and how to go into the middle game. Thank you
I will be covering every opening:) I will do a series on the English after I'm done with e4 openings (should be in about a month or so). I'm glad you find the videous useful.
3:47 11.Bf4 is the old theory. Modern theory in the mainline is to play 11.Bd2. That way White saves a bunch of tempi, and can prevent Black from playing Qa5+ and provoking c3.

This is better than the Gothamchess course
haha!
@@adriatic.vineyards equal. we don't accept GothamChess slander. this video series is very good already, but GothamChess is also a good choice

@Detroit BoyZ great move because Gotham Chess is shit. And why would you learn from someone who cant get GM anyway?
This is the best video series on the Caro Kann that I've seen. The videos get straight to the point and cover a lot of content. Thank you!
I'm very happy you think that! Thanks for the praise!

yeah that is also my favorite line 11. Bd2
Sure, but then black gets f4-b8 diagonal. If black is going to get that diagonal anyways, the loss of tempi is not a big deal, as white sometimes wants c4 anyways. So it’s a bit of a wash
