What I love about this video and the biggest standout for me is that everyone is older. I am nearing my 60th birthday and here in the U.S. if you are woman over 40-45 you are invisible. These women are rocking their style my age and older and look AMAZING!!! This made my day!

I'm just a little older Sally. I think being our age is just great. I remember when I was a teenager reading my sisters Vogue magazines in the early 60's. Now back then Vogue were about style more than fashion. They showed me beautifully made garments and shoes that were not seen around everywhere. When I look back on my life as a teenager, and the way I was attracted to good style, I now know and believe that one is born with certain traits, that turns one on to things that others do not appreciate. I often looked out of place and even over dressed, but I was proud of myself and appreciated that I am not a follower and i do not need other to follow me. Fashion comes and goes but good style stays around for a long time.
Imagine a world where all elderly people could afford these expensive clothes. ❤
This warms my heart. I’ve heard so many older women here in the United States saying they feel pushed into the background. These older women and men are fabulous! I want to be the lady in the pink coat when I grow up 😂

Yes, on several holidays in Italy, i also saw that even the normal not rich women still look stylish. The Italians like stylish items. Once when i was standing with my Alfa Romeo GTV6 from 1985 was standing at a traffic light, i got a nice compliment about my car: " Bella macchina!" ( Nice car!).

My grandparents were always very elegant and dressed well. They didn’t have a lot of money but had what they needed. I LOVE to see these Beautiful seniors taking pride in their looks. Here in America they throw the seniors in nursing home rather than Cherishing and Respecting them. I wish I could live close to my cousins in Milano so we could be fabulous together! What I noticed when in Italy was the attention paid to colour. No stylish person wore more than two colours, although they may wear different shades of the same colour - those shades were all in a similar 'tone'. Even the shoes.
I love how the women walk with arms linked with their Mother-Sister-Friend. The fashion is stunning.

I am amazed how stylish and put together these people are. As an older person I find it sometimes difficult to know what is appropriate to wear for my age. These people gave me lots of ideas! Thank you and please keep these types of videos coming. As a side note would be tough to have a partner more stylish than me, many of the men were better dressed than their partner!
@csora2547 I’m also of “a particular age”. I’ve found not showing “all our blessings” as the young women today do, is the most flattering to us. Therefore, I wear anything I am drawn to. I find the modesty of any woman, when it comes to clothes, is key. That’s not to say dressing like a nun or Hasidic. Low cleavage, super tight fit etc. are cheap. Kardashian-like dress is not fashion nor becoming. Stylish women have always known to leaving something to the imagination is far more alluring than letting it all hang out.

Generally speaking elegance is something you get only with the maturity. But it's indeed that italians, at least the ones who can afford, pay more attention to their look compared to other, even richer, people. And this not only in Milan.
Personally I've lived in UK. Not far from London, in a wealthy area close to Oxford. I was very disappointed about the way of people dress there. Apart from central London, super-rich, cosmopolitan and educated, where you have Savile Row, Bond street, Mayfair and so on, the rest of people are so... swallow.
It's barbaric to see people going around in tracksuit and sliders. They look all tramps!

Живу более 20 лет в Германии, но на это видео смотрела, как на жизнь на другой планете! Особенно пожилые люди одеты со вкусом, стилем и смело, что в других больших европейских городах не бросается в глаза. Немцы уже давно в общей массе одеваются буднично-практично и бесцветно. Австрийцы не далёко от итальянцев отстают -часто глаз цепляется за что-то элегантно-красивое.

I just looked at this video and I loved it. I think when someone is classy, they like to look classy. Money or not. Personally I loved seeing all these elderly men dressed so well. Not something you find on the streets of America as much.

I love all your videos. I love this anthropology of style. But I just want to mention that the super wealthy Italians have learned over the years not to display their wealth. The mega rich old-money Italians will often be seen in very understated dress. They even go the opposite direction and wear ZARA or other high street brands to 'blend in'. At university I met some of the generational super rich and you wouldn't be able to distinguish them from the rest of the ordinary folk. Expensive, flashy handbags are a major no-no. Most people you see in these videos are new money or in the 'still trying to prove something' catagory.
Those that dress well are not led by fashion. They don't buy clothes and expect the clothes to make them. They buy clothes with good style in mind and always consider what they can do for the clothes. Fashion today is for the masses and thus mostly the followers.
I ve said it before and now again . The people we see here are very nicely put out and have a beautiful sense of style . If there is old money it is certainly not openly displayed and you wouldn t be able to tell them apart.

You can almost always spot old money people. They are the ones who have a subdued elegance and style. The thing I noticed most was that almost everyone was wearing really good shoes. By good I mean, shoes that support your feet properly. Enjoyable video, thank you.

I’ve always noticed that Italian women seem to wear more furs than those in other countries. Hope they’re faux. What stood out to me is many of the older men’s pants looked bespoke. The fabric drape and movement. These candid shots really showcase the fabric and tailoring difference when the men walk. Esp evident in the lighter colors and when the pant legs are slim but not skinny.

Many of the women with those dreadful Hermes bags which pinpoint a “follower” who is defined by what she wears are not stylish. They also had scowls on their faces. Color, material, cut, and fit, are the essentials of style. Living in clothes as opposed to them hanging on a mannequin. Liking all the elements, having no fear of color and being completely comfortable in your choices… voila! ….. you’ve arrived in style
I have worked in fashion retail for several years. Recently it has been a race of flashy vulgarity to accomplish the (un)taste of new riches from middle-east.
Some legendary brands like Valentino, Gucci, Dior, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, even Ferragamo and more are interesting only in making extra-profits. They produce so many overpriced tacky stuff with logo everywhere, flashy colours, huge animals printed all over, big shoes. HORRIBLE.
It's not trendy or fashion. Trendy can be a shorter lenght or tapered trouser or with a coulisse etc. Not such bad taste. And with the same amount of money you can go to some atelier in Italy or France getting a bespoke blazer or suit or chemise, 100% made by hands in the top fabrics.

It is sad that most people have to follow fashion because they can't think for themselves. Far too many fashion followers think that those brands you are referring to, will make them look good, just because they are popular noted fashion brands. Sadly they never consider what they can offer to make the garment look good. They just put it on with the name blatently displayed and venture out to advertise, like a cheap sandwich board hawker. Yes..... Some of the latest fashions in clothes have very little regard for the artistic basic rules, of balance, harmony, order and colour coordination.

@Paper Darts...He can probably afford it and his stylist knows what will make him look better. I also have beaver taste, but I can't afford such clothes from expensive shops in Manhattan. Currently, the average person cannot buy tasteful and inexpensive clothes because there are no such stores. These clothes that we could buy for several years and could afford them only go to the rich. We have to dress in polyester junk and we often overpay for it. Only such people can afford style and quality. Have a nice day.

It was very understated but the woman at about 3:12 caught my eye. I love the color choices, especially the plum tights with the pale teal dress and green coat. It was elegant in a relaxed way and a creative choice of colors. Creative without trying too hard. I'd love to own that whole outfit.
