Been researching to understand USD better. This has been one of the most concise and best explained videos I’ve seen yet. That is truly a talent to convey complex concepts in simple breakdowns. I highly appreciate the visual hierarchy vehicle example.
Hey! Great video! Since you're looking to refine it, I think this video could be a good non-technical intro for anyone. I do like starting with something practical before talking about the tech. I would leave out digging into the .usda files and maybe ONLY talk about the USD files in the file browser to show that the asset you showed is made up of lots of files. 4:16 and onwards is solid! Thanks for doing this!
Thank you! Just so I understand better: What would be the reason to leave out digging into the .usda files? For example, does it feel unnecessary or unimportant?
@@rystorm- Just looking at it as a non-technical intro. I've had some artists' eyes glaze over or feel discouraged looking at USDA. If we get it right, artists should be able to do their work without ever looking at USDA. I also think you spent a good deal of time on it, but it doesn't contribute as much to the rest of the video.
You can download the USD Example Assets via a link in the description. I am still working on a new version of this video, so any more feedback is always appreciated :)
Thankyou for giving precious Stuff. Please keep making more videos like this.. I have Subscribed your Channel and will keep on seeing Videos here available right now.. Thankyou Once again....
Hello, I would second Mati's point, but maybe just suggest moving a cursory glance at the file contents to the end. In the end, understanding the guts of USD files is something TDs will be especially interested in, but as Mati pointed out, artists eyes glaze over. In the end, perhaps it's more a matter of who the target audience is for the vid. I also think it would be helpful to include some information about Nvidia Omniverse, as it is by far and away the most developed USD "hub" tool suite, and is free to use for individuals. Mati happens to be a developer there, but is too professional to have pitched the product since this is a generic USD vid, but after watching the vid I thought I'd mention it (I don't work for Nvidia, btw).

Great points, thank you!
Who will create the content, and what are the benefits for the creator rather than the user?
Which content do you mean in this case? Any USD content, or a particular kind?
