- Learn how to install a Hood Scoop like the professionals do by watching this step by step guide done by a Panel Beater who specializes in body kits, all steps will be covered including cutting the hole, drilling pilot holes, gluing and screwing, rust prevention, materials required, how to paint, and even finishing touches like sealing gaps, applying trimming around the hole and mesh in the front. The scoop I am fitting is a "Rambler Hornet Style Scoop" This livery was used by Peter Jackson Racing in Australia from 1989 to the 2002, This Livery was on the 1993 EB Falcon driven by Glen Seton and Alan Jones that won the Australian Touring Car Championship, The yellow is a Ford Australia colour called Rapid Yellow Paint Code RR and the red is another Australian Ford color called Vixen cloor code VX.

back in the 70s when prostock scoops first came out we used vw guard rubbers between the scoop n bonnet it looked great n was easy if you had to take scoop off
I know this is old, but probably the most helpful video I've seen on hood scoops ! Could you list the bonding materials used to fix the scoop to the hood? Trying to make note but you used alot during the video. Thanks
Awesome job bro wow my god thanks for the video nice car to
Nice job!
nice car :)
Nice color! One thing I've learned about mounting a fiberglass or ABS plastic hoodscoop on a metal hood is that the different materials will expand and contract differently with temperature changes. This could cause splitting and cracking.
Great to see the final part of the car done. nice work. the scoop really sets it off. Any tips on getting the jig saw to cut straight on the bonnet? Ive never used a jig on sheet metal, always gone the cutting wheel but it looked meet and the less sparks on fresh paint = great idea.
Just make sure you have the right blade and it should cut through nice just as you saw.
Hola desde España donde podría conseguir este producto y cuánto puede costar gracias
how many inches long is this hood scoop
nice video, why not cut the hole before it was painted?
Where do you buy your hood scoops
Base coat over bare metal?
Yeah its probably not recommended but I'm using solvent base so it wont rust. and it's all out of sight so all it is doing is stopping the metal from being exposed.
Have you ever been pulled over by the cops driving this? Isn't the scoop opening oversized? I got one a couple days back and still deciding whether it is a good idea to install it.
These are great videos, thanks for sharing them
No worries mate, Thanks for watching.
What exhaust setup are you running on your mighty XF? I took the exhaust system off my EL XR6 and was thinking about cutting the two smaller mufflers out and just leaving in the last big one but whatever you're running sounds perfect. Also any tips on putting a fiberglass BA bonnet bulge on so you can't see the square patch around it?
Hi mate thanks, The exhaust system I have on mine is "Wildcat Headers" (Extractors) with a 2.5" inch System no cat, and if you have a fiberglass bonnet then you can get artistic with filler and round off the edges as you like but just be careful not to go too far in or you will get holes open up, It may be worth getting some help from a mate doing that step as I did on this bonnet scoop, 2 heads are better than one and if you know a panel beater then thats perfect, Good luck mate.
The Gunman Thanks for the reply. I'm doing my pre apprenticeship for panel beating and wanted to build my falcon by myself as something of self accomplishment so i didn't want any help from a pro but I tried making the BA bulge fit the bonnet as best as possible before i fiberglassed it on and smoothed it out with body filler but it doesn't look factory like other ones i've seen. I guess i'll just have to bite the bullet and get someone to do it for me haha.
Yeah that kind of stuff can be quite tricky even for some tradesman.
painting silicone what a joke as for the applying of it Jesus Christ man mask it fair it and you wont have to paint
It's not silicone, it's seam sealer and designed to be painted over 😁
if thats the case I stand corrected, thankyou
What brand or part no. Is this scoop?
It was so long ago I can't remember the details. I think I just searched eBay for 'Hornet Style Bonnet Scoop '
@@TheGunmanChannel Ok thanks for getting back to me, I really like how it's made, it reminds me of the one I use to have on my 88 Fox body, but mine was more rectangle, now I'm building a 94 sn95, and my wife says it needs to be with more rounded corners, my carb. breather sticks completely out of hood so I have to have something lol.
Great vid mate and kudos for buying the right make of car first up =)
I regret selling that beast
cool
Even GM had to remove "eye of sight" aiming.

i like that you covered all the bare metal!
Ok, and when rain?
Great Vid mate
Well done!
