Sam's ability to level with people and provide council is his strongest suit and we are introduced to him in Winter Soldier with this knowledge and its accented in Falcon and the Winter Soldier as Sam was trying to talk through all his problems .
Thank you for the quick breakdown! I think I like the "walk-n'-talk" for your first hand reactions and a sit down recording for a full breakdown/review! Keep up the great work!
Loved this episode, hulkzilla was sick asf and it was cool to see Sam Wilson leading an avengers team as his captain America. Also Coy I recently just got a complete 5 issue comic series of Batman I Am Suicide, I’m on part 4 at the moment and I’m loving it
Agree this felt like what would have been possible our next Avengers team (or some of them) where they could have fleshed out more had they structured their phase 4 and 5 better (stop introducing too many new characters and not taking time developing them). Should have been a mix of new and already established characters. I digress. Monica def was great as Sam’s second in command like Natasha was for Steve. Wish they had given more time fleshing the characters more. Can see how Sam potentially could be our lead in the Avengers MCU from a glimmer we got here. 80s style animation reminded me of Battle of The Planets/Gatchaman.
I love the start where it looked straight out of a Voltron/Macron-1 era show. It at least shows they're more than capable of doing it. Can you imagine if an entire What If episode was based on a Miyazaki influence? Would be magical!
The whiplash seeing you post about a review because we're post - week recovery of superman and lois. Weasel episode coming with the superman trailer, HB episode and then seeing you talk if Doc who isn't out yet am hoping then what if brings more joyous episodes that season 2 did
Enjoyed the video. If you want to see great short stories, i recommend the Twilight Zone. The episode "Five Characters in Search Of an Exit" is one of my favorite half hours of television.
It's bad when me, someone plugged into everything MCU content, has to do triple takes to figure out who some of the Avenger characters were like Nikia, Shang Chi, and Moon Knight?!? Completely forgot these are characters in MCU given long absence of any connectivity across characters - also character designs are so bland and generic, Moon Knight, Bucky, and Bruce all look like the same person?
Blew past that 40K milestone, light werk! 💥I have trouble with the pacing of all What If eps tbh. No matter how much I enjoy them or not, they all feel kinda 'on rails', with an inevitable conclusion. Would love to 'sit' a little longer with the happenings and decisions made across the runtime; daily drops only slightly take the edge off these titles being so short (I had similar gripes with all D+ titles, and even Creature Commandos now - 167.5 hrs wait for every .5 hrs of fun = meh).
I do have a lot of the same narrative problems as you and Greg expressed in the reaction video, but I feel that was a result of production issues. I'm betting the Gamma War itself was the episode they originally pitched, but then they realized that they wanted to give more focus to the newer characters instead of using the OG Avengers yet again but ALSO couldn't just drop people into the middle of the story. So they kinda pushed themselves into doing both and it not only hurt the pacing of the episode, but also diminished the importance many of the other characters had in the episode. Like I genuinely don't get why all these other characters are even in the episode other than to get us reacquainted with them for the rest of the season, but also to provide for some cool action and visuals. Which doesn't seem like a GOOD reason to include them.
Hey, I like the walk-and-talk. I mean, you're no Hugh Laurie's Dr. House, but it's still a good walk-and-talk. As to the episode this was a miss for me. I feel like we watched part 2 of a two-parter and really needed part one.
I enjoyed the episode but what a waste of Shang-Chi and Moon Knight. Why have them there if we don’t see their unique abilities. Also it wasn’t really a what if - like it was just straight up alternate universe
This was seriously the first What If episode that I wished was a full series. Doesn’t have to connect to the MCU at all. Just a fun animated Avengers-Pacific Rim-Hulkzilla show.
There's a storyboard that implies that this episode was supposed to be Mech Avengers vs Surtur, with Spider-Man getting the "with great power..." moment. Kinda disappointed with that. The finales are always multiversal, I hope the Mech Avengers vs Surtur can still squeeze in, but, "expect disappointment and you won't be disappointed"
Not the biggest fan of this episode but some of that is partly I've never been a huge Sam Wilson fan. Part of it, though, was that the story felt a bit thrown together. The characters didn't have great chemistry or depth and the script felt very much like something that was cobbled together from the scrap heap. Finally, i think the issue with What If is that they've implied it will have an impact on the live action story, so many of us are watching to see how that will or can happen. When you have a story like this where its obvious none of this is making its way to the main storyline, it gets judged a bit more harshly.
Talk about Gundam meets Power Rangers meets Voltron meets Pacific Rim all coming together in the season 3 premiere of What If...? In the comics I feel Bruce Banner does become an ultimate form of the Hulk and if he does the payoff is done really well here. This What If...? Avengers can translate to live action if it happens somewhere down the line.

I agree

I am not able to watch it please send me link
Love the walk and talk reaction vibe. And seeing the blue sky and sun. Woke up to 3 inches of snow on my end. 🎄
Love the walk n talk, Coy! Agree. Pacing too rushed to connect but it was a fun episode.

Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤ congrats for the 40k ❤
thanks, nice superman curl
I enjoy your videos Coy and it's fun to see you switch it up with the walk and talk. I had fun with this episode of What If.
love the walk and talk

“Going through the motions” was a good way to put it

ITS A LOT.
This is what almost every week next year looks to be shaping up like. PREPARE FOR ABUNDANCE
How can i watch
Seeing so many Kirby inspired gamma beasts, Kluh, and Titan Hulk was awesome
Enjoyed the video. If you want to see great short stories, i recommend the Twilight Zone. The episode "Five Characters in Search Of an Exit" is one of my favorite half hours of television.
Moon Knight gave the team mega cool points
What if…this series was animated like Arcane?
Then we'd have only gotten one season thus far and would be awaiting the second. Probably. 🤓
Episode 3 x 1 ❤; Walking & Talking 👍🏽

Was the single curl of hair on your forehead intentional?? Be honest now, Coy. 😂
I felt like you video was a lil rushed. Maybe it was cause you were walking. But it seemed like the videos you make in your house are better

Coming back from cashing the check from 'DC"
Love the episode!
😸😸😸
This ep was fantastic
How can i watch please tell me
Quite mediocre imo. Hoping it gets better
It was terrible. Horrid dialogue and super corny.
