I have been receiving on the tongue now for years and this year I have begun kneeling for receiving Communion whenever I can. I intend to continue this practice from now on.
i never liked the manual reception but i have been receiving that way until a few months ago. now, almost always, i receive Jesus on the tongue (sometimes i forget)
That is your privilege, assuming the priest does not mind getting slobbered on. But do not presume that your method of doing it is the only correct way. In the Ukrainian Catholic churches, which have been in communion with Rome since 1596, Communion is administered by means of a gold spoon, which contains a piece of consecrated bread and a small amount of consecrated wine. Done right, the spoon and the recipient never make contact. The Eastern Catholic churches also use leavened bread. Christ is risen and so is the bread
Shirtless I think this is great. It still preserves the reverence for God. This tradition has its roots in the Old Testament when only the high priest, who has been ritually cleaned can offer a sacrifice to God. Thus only the priest who washes his hands (part of the prayer while washing says “... destroy not my soul with the wicked, o God: nor my life with men of blood. In whose hands are iniquities...) is allowed to touch the Body of our precious Lord. Allowing lay people touch Him introduces a lack of respect and a sense of nonchalance. These things allow people to begin to diminish the need for mass. This is the legacy of Vatican II.
We were taught to go to the front of the church kneel at the alter and as the priest came by you put out your tong and received communion, because it was so sacred to us, no one else was allowed to touch it. I feel we are losing our truth of Christ, God help us.

The Church got so infected by this practice that the Vatican got no other choice than to accept it. BUT it is still PREFERED to receive kneeling and on the tongue than in the hand. Shirtless you have the right to receive on the tongue and is actually strongly encouraged. In fact, Vatican voted against communion in the hand but it sadly slipped through.

When I first saw Communion received in the hand, I was 11. I ran out of the church crying hysterically. Years later, after bad theology teaching in Catholic high school, I began to receive in the hand. Eventually, I returned to a proper understanding of who He is, and now only receive on the tongue, after genuflecting.

Several years ago in DC area I was in communion line and the still small voice said Do Not receive host in your hand and I ignored it and stuck out my hand and the host lifted up off my hand and fell to the floor. That was the last time I ever took the host in my hand

For four years I helped distribute communion. I stepped out of it because the way people were coming up to receive. I had people grab the host out of my hand and a couple receive in the hand then step aside then place the wafer on each others tongue at the same time. I did not want to be a part of irreverence to the Blessed Sacrament.

Even if you go to a casual picnic, the hostess will serve you cake on a plate with a fork and a napkin. She doesn't just stick a piece of cake in your hand. We are civilized, correct? But we are expected to grab Jesus like pigs with our unwashed hands (right after we press flesh with total strangers in the pews) in a way we wouldn't eat anything else in polite company. Olden days practice of receiving the Holy Communion while kneeling down, is a very good practice and a wonderful way to show our love and respect for our Dear Lord Jesus who is really present. It is a real worth to continue the same practice even now through out the world. The clergy and the higher authorities should insist on this practice. Secondly the practice of touching our Lord Jesus in our hands be discontinued.

We need to respect our Lord who is in the Blessed Sacrament. The Church has to be very strict in giving instructions to the Priests and the leaders of the Catholic Church, never to allow the pole to receive in the hands. The Lord has to be received on the tongue kneeling. The communion rail should be put in the Church for people to be kneeling. If we are not serious about it, the world will continue suffering. God will always allow Terrorists and other kind of evil to attack the Christians. Let us give our Our Lord the due respect He deserves. And we shall experience Peace and Prosperity in our World of today.

These are among the reasons why I now only receive on the tongue while kneeling. It is the most excellent way to receive Holy Communion. Not that my feelings about it are of any importance, but I'd always felt awkward about receiving in the hand while standing; receiving on the tongue while kneeling just happens to feel right. And I try to seat myself in the nave so that I will end up receiving Holy Communion from the priest rather than from a "Eucharistic minister". Does anyone else here get choked up during epiclesis?

I say this with as much charity as I can muster-this holy man, who has laid down his life for our Lord and the Church, and who incidentally speaks beautiful English, deserves nothing but our respect and thanks. I’m actually not sure it’s ever kind to laugh at someone who is trying hard in a language that is not their native tongue.
As a new Catholic, I've really been struggling with this. At my first communion this year, I asked the RCIA director if I could receive on the tongue (I understood it to show more reverence). She said absolutely not--that it must be received in the hand. In fact, she said it had to have been done in the left hand assuming I was right-handed (I'm actually left-handed). Speaking with cradle Catholic friends, when I offer my concern of receiving in the hand, I'm told unanimously that I think like the pharisees because this is only a little t tradition, not dogmatic. I want to progress into being a better Catholic each day (even though I'll never really be a good Catholic), but I'm not sure if I am over-thinking reverence and now missing the point or if I am doing the right thing in at least trying to show dignity to the Eucharist.
It is sad to here what you are going through. Just to let you know a good majority of the Church is infected with modernism. This is true in regards with various priests, and even with R.C.I.A classes. I know this from experience as having myself been in the R.C.I.A process for my confirmation, as well as helping teach R.C.I.A. I have been denied Holy Communion kneeling down because apparently to some priests it is in disobedience to the bishop's decrees on how Holy Communion is to be received here in the United States. This is obviously false, both because it is in contradiction with what is stated in the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (160), Redemptionis Sacramentum (90-91) and the Congregation for Divine Worship. I recommend that you talk to your bishop regarding this event, and if the bishop himself does not do anything, then perhaps telling the Congregation for Divine Worship
L SSPapp That's how it seems to me based on everything I've read and just by following logic (my hands aren't consecrated and we always keep the Eucharist in holy vessels for a reason)...though whenever I bring this up, even to friends who are liturgical theologians, they say anyone who receives on the tongue in a parish where everyone else is receiving in the hand is disobeying God by trying to make it personal. But that's not what I'm trying to do.

Before Vatican II (which one priest said is the French Revolution in the church) and the Novus Ordo (New Mass) which came into being by Freemason Annibale Bugini, Catholics attended the Latin Mass, received on the tongue and on their knees. As an Orthodox, I have to tell you that you are very lucky that you still have such Bishops in the Roman Catholic Church. There have been efforts to "modernise" the Church through irreverent actions, like receiving Communion in the hand. But those people forgot that the fact that the Church is able to receive all human beings as they are, makes the Church modern in its essence.

There is a practice in a church I saw on tv wherein the hosts are placed in a container on the altar and the communicants ( who are few because of this pandemic) line themselves before the altar and pick up a host by themselves to put into their mouths while the priest remains seated on the side.

I went to Communion and knelt down on the floor, I always kneel down,(think of Moses on the mountain, he even had to take his shoes/sandals off) Jesus is GOD, who do we, mortals, think we are. People bow before kings and queens, before worldly powerful, but refuse to kneel before God !!! Now it comes : the priest did not give me Holy Communion, only to the ones standing. I kept waiting on the floor and scraped my throat, (I was still in my nurses uniform) ok he turned back and gave me the Holy Host. Thank You Jesus.
I'm referring to the same part you're referring to. I've been to various rites in the church (I used to sing in a Byzantine rite choir, as well as serve at the Divine Liturgies, and I served,baptized,received my first communion,and was confirmed in the Latin Rite).However what I am saying is that only two rites of the church(Latin,and Anglican Use),require kneeling during Sunday Masses,while the other rites all encourage standing during the Liturgy,even when receiving Communion,Because of Nicea.
I still receive on the tongue, but my children were taught to receive on the hand and now have become comfortable it. I would like them to receive on the tongue, but some of our Eucharistic Ministers do not make this easy. When I went up to receive communion this weekend, I was one of the very few to receive on the tongue. It was clear that the Eucharistic Minister was uncomfortable with this and he almost dropped the Eucharist! I think they need to train them to be ready for both.

I wish I could receive on the tongue, but it's kinda hard when my church has no kneelers. Kneeling on the ground in front of some random extra-ordinary minster and sticking your tongue out is pretty daunting, especially when no one else is doing it. I even heard of a friend who was refused communion on the tongue by an extra-ordinary minister, she was too nice to make a big deal about it though.
Only once I have received communion on hand because the nun who was the Eucharistic minister refused to give on the tongue. She did not believe she was holding body of Christ in her hand.
We have seen with our eyes, we have touched with our hands and David and his man were hungry and ate the bread consecrated by the Priest of which they and only they were allowed to eat. I would like an answer to this in the context of receiving Holy Communion in the hand for myself and still love the Lord crucified and risen in my heart and willed his desire in me with all my might! Every other sacrament is received as soon as it is administered, except Communion in the hand. If the Host is put on the hand, the recipient then must administer the sacrament to herself. Moreover, although considered extraordinary ministers, lay people take part in administering this sacrament regularly. But, we shouldn't need arguments for the traditional practices. Communion in the hand began in the late 60's through disobedient priests and bishops in Holland and Germany, and was subsequently approved. Only the arrogant are against organically developed traditions of holy mother Church. Why do people who receive in the hand seem to so violently hate holy tradition???

An ordained priest's hands are consecrated. He is authorized to touch the precious Body and Blood of Christ. My hands are not consecrated. I am not worthy. Domine non sum dignus. It's as simple as that!

Communion without receiving the precious cup (as the angel gave to the children of Fatima, as the early church did for centuries, as the East still does, and as the Lord COMMANDED his disciples to do, is a mile long step towards eliminating the common priesthood of all the saints of God's holy church. Maybe THAT is part of why so many priests feel privileged to do what they want, look at the clock as dumb sheep to be manipulated, fleeced, and slaughtered at will, for their own desires.
So I want to know, what does it mean when they take communion on the hand? I noticed that the church I attend is a mix of the Priest placing it mostly on the hand, and a few take it on their tongue. What is the proper rule? or law? How does God want it? Isn't that what we should follow and obey?

Almeis Dei Quite long. Sorry couldn't read all. The apostles had a super. They weren't kneeling obviously. However, receiving our Lord on your knees is great if you can. If you can't for genuine reasons fine. Our lord did not put the bread in their mouths either. Remember some Catholic rites out the communion in a spoon. Whichever way, we are still receiving our Lord. Again, not compulsory to kneel.

It is precisely because it IS Our Lord that gives Himself in Communion that we must receive Him kneeling. My argument is not to show I am right you are wrong, I am good and you are bad. I mean i don't even know where i am going in eternity. But what is really at stake here is Our Lord. To whom much has been given much will be demanded. Our Lord did in fact give His body to the Apostles directly on their mouths as they kneeled. This is confirmed by Venerable Anne Catherine Emmerich. As far as the other catholic rites go, i know nothing of them I only know the only I am in, and really that is only what matters. Because we will be judged on how much we loved the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar and not on the other rites.

All the faithful present, whether clerics or lay people, unite to participate in their own way, according to their various orders and liturgical roles. The Byzentines receive our Lord with a spoon. Your saying we must all kneel and receive in our mouth is to disregard other Catholics. Remember above, "according to their various orders and liturgical roles." We as Catholics are obliged to believe the bible. We are not however obliged to believe apparitions etc. Hence I take the vision of Venerable Anne Catherine Emmerich to have been falsely interpreted. Remember prophecy is that which we understand after it has happened. Could it not have been a vision asking us to pay more reverence to our lord during the holy Eucarist? This that is clear is that it was bread. On the other hand, our brother Mathew's translation shows that our lord said he that dippeth his hands in the same cup as him. Meaning, they were actually having super. And the bread was handed to each of them to eat. That's why Judas could dip his hands in the same cup has Mathew claims. Luke 22:17 further testifies to this as he stated clearly that he took the cup and told them to divide among themselves meaning he did NOT put it in their mouth. they divided and put in their mouth. Again, Luke quotes our Lord saying in 22:21 : the one who will betray me is with me on the table. Almeus Dei my question to you is this: DO YOU KNEEL ON THE TABLE, STAND ON THE TABLE OR SIT ON THE TABLE. Neither though. However, you sit around the table. Final comment: the disciples were NOT kneeling.
Jovi Otite You focus more on the fact that it was a table table table, even if you were to receive Holy Communion in a hospital you should kneel simply because it is Our Lord truly present in body blood divinity and soul. I am 100% sure, the Apostle's kneeled when Our Lord gave them His Body. This is also backed up by Rev. Fr. Arnold Renz, during an exorcism in the 1970's. Christ gave them His Body as they all kneeled and directly in the mouth. If we were at a table, i'd be sitting, but then i would get up off my seat for communion time, and kneel to humiliate myself before the Almighty. Just saying.

Holy Communion in the hand is _hardly_ reverent. It was re-introduced by pretended reformers like Zwingli and Cranmer to destroy the belief in the Real Presence. It began as an abuse. It's still an abuse even though it is under indult (exception to the *law* ).

This is an eye opener. Communion in the hand needs to be distiguished from handling the Eucharist. I see. This is another Vatican II concept that has been highjacked by liberals. People (usually hardcore traditionalists) say that communion in the hand needs to be forbidden because people can easily hide it and commit sacralige. But what is there to prevent them from taking it out of their mouth later on? It might be less inconspicuous, but still.

Unfortunatey receiving the host on the tongue and kneeling is a sign of Jesus' present in the eucharist. There is no reason why this can't be re-instated. We have simply got into bad habits over the years. It can be changed. Have faith.
Wasn't his issue resolved by Pope Paul VI? it is licit to receive communion in the hand AND communion given on the tongue cannot be denied. Why are we still talking about this?

I have always felt that Communion on the tongue is more reverent, but I was encouraged at my Parish to refrain from doing that because the Priest was so elderly and found it difficult to place the host. Regarding “Communion in the hand” versus “Communion on the tongue,” I have a question. At the Last Supper, did Jesus administer Communion on the tongue? Or did He hand it to his apostles? The Roman Canon (Eucharistic Prayer I) contains the following language: He took bread in his holy and venerable hands, And with eyes raised to heaven, to You, O God, His almighty Father, giving You thanks, He said the blessing, broke the bread, and gave it to His disciples, saying: In other words, Jesus handed them the consecrated bread. They did not stick out their tongues, like baby birds in a nest. As for table versus altar debate, I believe Jesus and the Apostles sat at a table for the Last Supper. One of the great benefits of the Second Vatican Council is that it reduced the emphasis on silly legalisms that obscure the essential nature of our faith. Instead of arguing about trivialities like this, the hierarchy needs to do something about clergy sex abuse scandal. I am afraid, though, that it is too large, too widespread, so entrenched, that the church cannot clean it up on its own. The only answer may be vigorous law enforcement by the civil authorities, with guilty priests and their enabling bishops going to prison, and any church property used in a criminal enterprise forfeited to the state.

At the last supper, Jesus gave his apostles his body. His apostles were bishops, meaning consecrated hands so they are able to receive on their hands. We do not. Yes it was a table but after that it was an altar because an altar is used for sacrifice. Even the novus ordo calls it an altar. Ad orientem represents Jesus making his second coming in the East.

The Apostles were, after all, the first Bishops of the Catholic Church, and as such were permitted to handle The Sacred Host. Modern day Priests have their hands anointed with Holy Oils and because of this they are permitted to dispense the Consecrated Host to the communicants.
I agree with the Archbishop. It is wrong to say we can feed ourselves Communion. This amounts to false pride in humans. Every second we have, every heart beat and breath has been given to us as a gift from GOD. Even the daily food that we eat is produced from the very nature that GOD created for the sustenance of our mortal bodies and so we should not be so arrogant as to think that we actually feed ourselves in the first place. The Body and Blood, Soul and Divinety is Devine food given to us personally by GOD through the priest impersona who is consecrated to feed us this saving grace and gift from GOD.

@quantumystery The blessed sacrament only remains the body and blood of Christ until it looses the appearance of bread and wine. So once your stomach digests it. It no longer looks like bread and wine so it is no longer the body of Christ. so when you go to the bathroom what is coming out is NOT the blessed sacrament!
It must be remembered that Communion on the tongue is the law of the Church. Communion in the hand is an exception to the law (it is an “indult”) which is not commanded but only allowed if all the conditions outlined by the Vatican are present. If the conditions are not present then the permission is not granted and Communion on the tongue only is permitted. The seven conditions are based on two principles as the official document points out. Of course it’s not explicitly stated, but his apostles only receive on their hands because they were bishops. We need to be extremely reverent when we receive our Lord because our hands are not consecrated and dirty.

In the Gospels, Jesus says "take and eat" which means that Jesus wants his disciples to take in their hands and to eat the bread which he blessed and distributed to them. Since Jesus says, "I desire to celebrate this Passover with you" (Luke 22:15 and par.), it must be presumed that Jesus blessed and distributed (hand to hand) in accordance with Jewish usage during the Passover. If Jesus had placed the bread in the mouths of his disciples, this would have been a shocking deviation and would have been noted as such. Rev. That is your privilege, assuming the priest does not mind getting slobbered on. But do not presume that your method of doing it is the only correct way. In the Ukrainian Catholic churches, which have been in communion with Rome since 1596, Communion is administered by means of a gold spoon, which contains a piece of consecrated bread and a small amount of consecrated wine. Done right, the spoon and the recipient never make contact. The Eastern Catholic churches also use leavened bread. Christ is risen and so is the bread
Shirtless I think this is great. It still preserves the reverence for God. This tradition has its roots in the Old Testament when only the high priest, who has been ritually cleaned can offer a sacrifice to God. Thus only the priest who washes his hands (part of the prayer while washing says “... destroy not my soul with the wicked, o God: nor my life with men of blood. In whose hands are iniquities...) is allowed to touch the Body of our precious Lord. Allowing lay people touch Him introduces a lack of respect and a sense of nonchalance. These things allow people to begin to diminish the need for mass. This is the legacy of Vatican II.

We were taught to go to the front of the church kneel at the alter and as the priest came by you put out your tong and received communion, because it was so sacred to us, no one else was allowed to touch it. I feel we are losing our truth of Christ, God help us.

The Church got so infected by this practice that the Vatican got no other choice than to accept it. BUT it is still PREFERED to receive kneeling and on the tongue than in the hand. When I first saw Communion received in the hand, I was 11. I ran out of the church crying hysterically.
Years later, after bad theology teaching in Catholic high school, I began to receive in the hand.
Eventually, I returned to a proper understanding of who He is, and now only receive on the tongue, after genuflecting.

Also, I feel so sad when I see other people helping the priest to distribute the body of Christ, and on everybody receiving Him, on their hands. There is an article of the exorcist from Vatican, Father Gabriele Amorth, talking about how the devil likes the modernism in church, including the eucharist on the hands.
For four years I helped distribute communion. I stepped out of it because the way people were coming up to receive. I had people grab the host out of my hand and a couple receive in the hand then step aside then place the wafer on each others tongue at the same time. I did not want to be a part of irreverence to the Blessed Sacrament.
Jesus gave it in the hands and so did the First 400 years of the Church. However they didn’t touch it and that’s how it should be that you eat it from your hands but not touch it with your hands. Fr Alar explains how this is done.

Olden days practice of receiving the Holy Communion while kneeling down, is a very good practice and a wonderful way to show our love and respect for our Dear Lord Jesus who is really present. It is a real worth to continue the same practice even now through out the world. The clergy and the higher authorities should insist on this practice. We need to respect our Lord who is in the Blessed Sacrament. The Church has to be very strict in giving instructions to the Priests and the leaders of the Catholic Church, never to allow the pole to receive in the hands. The Lord has to be received on the tongue kneeling. The communion rail should be put in the Church for people to be kneeling. If we are not serious about it, the world will continue suffering. I felt really shocked and hurt when I first found out people receive it on the hand.
These are among the reasons why I now only receive on the tongue while kneeling. It is the most excellent way to receive Holy Communion. Not that my feelings about it are of any importance, but I'd always felt awkward about receiving in the hand while standing; receiving on the tongue while kneeling just happens to feel right.
And I try to seat myself in the nave so that I will end up receiving Holy Communion from the priest rather than from a "Eucharistic minister".

I say this with as much charity as I can muster-this holy man, who has laid down his life for our Lord and the Church, and who incidentally speaks beautiful English, deserves nothing but our respect and thanks. I’m actually not sure it’s ever kind to laugh at someone who is trying hard in a language that is not their native tongue.
As a new Catholic, I've really been struggling with this. At my first communion this year, I asked the RCIA director if I could receive on the tongue (I understood it to show more reverence). She said absolutely not--that it must be received in the hand. In fact, she said it had to have been done in the left hand assuming I was right-handed (I'm actually left-handed).
Speaking with cradle Catholic friends, when I offer my concern of receiving in the hand, I'm told unanimously that I think like the pharisees because this is only a little t tradition, not dogmatic.
I want to progress into being a better Catholic each day (even though I'll never really be a good Catholic), but I'm not sure if I am over-thinking reverence and now missing the point or if I am doing the right thing in at least trying to show dignity to the Eucharist.
It is sad to here what you are going through. Just to let you know a good majority of the Church is infected with modernism. This is true in regards with various priests, and even with R.C.I.A classes. I know this from experience as having myself been in the R.C.I.A process for my confirmation, as well as helping teach R.C.I.A.
I have been denied Holy Communion kneeling down because apparently to some priests it is in disobedience to the bishop's decrees on how Holy Communion is to be received here in the United States. This is obviously false, both because it is in contradiction with what is stated in the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (160), Redemptionis Sacramentum (90-91) and the Congregation for Divine Worship.
I recommend that you talk to your bishop regarding this event, and if the bishop himself does not do anything, then perhaps telling the Congregation for Divine Worship
the right is on the tongue. Period.

That's how it seems to me based on everything I've read and just by following logic (my hands aren't consecrated and we always keep the Eucharist in holy vessels for a reason)...though whenever I bring this up, even to friends who are liturgical theologians, they say anyone who receives on the tongue in a parish where everyone else is receiving in the hand is disobeying God by trying to make it personal. But that's not what I'm trying to do.

There is a practice in a church I saw on tv wherein the hosts are placed in a container on the altar and the communicants ( who are few because of this pandemic) line themselves before the altar and pick up a host by themselves to put into their mouths while the priest remains seated on the side.

some time ago after 3 nightshifts of 13+ hours, I went to Holy Mass in a Church in Scottsdale AZ, on the way home. I went to Communion and knelt down on the floor, I always kneel down,(think of Moses on the mountain, he even had to take his shoes/sandals off) Jesus is GOD, who do we, mortals, think we are. People bow before kings and queens, before worldly powerful, but refuse to kneel before God !!!
Now it comes : the priest did not give me Holy Communion, only to the ones standing. I kept waiting on the floor and scraped my throat, (I was still in my nurses uniform) ok he turned back and gave me the Holy Host. Thank You Jesus.

I'm referring to the same part you're referring to. I've been to various rites in the church (I used to sing in a Byzantine rite choir, as well as serve at the Divine Liturgies, and I served,baptized,received my first communion,and was confirmed in the Latin Rite).However what I am saying is that only two rites of the church(Latin,and Anglican Use),require kneeling during Sunday Masses,while the other rites all encourage standing during the Liturgy,even when receiving Communion,Because of Nicea.
I still receive on the tongue, but my children were taught to receive on the hand and now have become comfortable it. I would like them to receive on the tongue, but some of our Eucharistic Ministers do not make this easy. When I went up to receive communion this weekend, I was one of the very few to receive on the tongue. It was clear that the Eucharistic Minister was uncomfortable with this and he almost dropped the Eucharist! I think they need to train them to be ready for both.
I recommend teaching your kids to stop receiving from EMHCs. They can move lines, the only ones who'd be offended are the ignorant.

Kneeling and receiving the communion has a tremendous feeling. It's a total different feeling when you receive by hand. It looks so ordinary.
I always have a problem with communion in the hand
I wish I could receive on the tongue, but it's kinda hard when my church has no kneelers. Kneeling on the ground in front of some random extra-ordinary minster and sticking your tongue out is pretty daunting, especially when no one else is doing it. I even heard of a friend who was refused communion on the tongue by an extra-ordinary minister, she was too nice to make a big deal about it though.
Only once I have received communion on hand because the nun who was the Eucharistic minister refused to give on the tongue. She did not believe she was holding body of Christ in her hand.
We have seen with our eyes, we have touched with our hands and David and his man were hungry and ate the bread consecrated by the Priest of which they and only they were allowed to eat. I would like an answer to this in the context of receiving Holy Communion in the hand for myself and still love the Lord crucified and risen in my heart and willed his desire in me with all my might! Every other sacrament is received as soon as it is administered, except Communion in the hand. If the Host is put on the hand, the recipient then must administer the sacrament to herself. Moreover, although considered extraordinary ministers, lay people take part in administering this sacrament regularly.
But, we shouldn't need arguments for the traditional practices. Communion in the hand began in the late 60's through disobedient priests and bishops in Holland and Germany, and was subsequently approved. Only the arrogant are against organically developed traditions of holy mother Church. Why do people who receive in the hand seem to so violently hate holy tradition???

Communion without receiving the precious cup (as the angel gave to the children of Fatima, as the early church did for centuries, as the East still does, and as the Lord COMMANDED his disciples to do, is a mile long step towards eliminating the common priesthood of all the saints of God's holy church. So I want to know, what does it mean when they take communion on the hand? I noticed that the church I attend is a mix of the Priest placing it mostly on the hand, and a few take it on their tongue. What is the proper rule? or law? How does God want it? Isn't that what we should follow and obey?

If you can't for genuine reasons fine. Our lord did not put the bread in their mouths either. Remember some Catholic rites out the communion in a spoon. It is precisely because it IS Our Lord that gives Himself in Communion that we must receive Him kneeling. My argument is not to show I am right you are wrong, I am good and you are bad. I mean i don't even know where i am going in eternity. But what is really at stake here is Our Lord. To whom much has been given much will be demanded. We as Catholics are obliged to believe the bible. We are not however obliged to believe apparitions etc. Hence I take the vision of Venerable Anne Catherine Emmerich to have been falsely interpreted. Remember prophecy is that which we understand after it has happened. Could it not have been a vision asking us to pay more reverence to our lord during the holy Eucarist? This maybe but definitely not saying the Apostles received communion on their knees. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN.

Fine, John 13:26 translated to English shows our Lord dipped the bread and gave to Judas. This that is clear is that it was bread.
On the other hand, our brother Mathew's translation shows that our lord said he that dippeth his hands in the same cup as him. Meaning, they were actually having super. And the bread was handed to each of them to eat. That's why Judas could dip his hands in the same cup has Mathew claims.
Luke 22:17 further testifies to this as he stated clearly that he took the cup and told them to divide among themselves meaning he did NOT put it in their mouth. they divided and put in their mouth.
Again, Luke quotes our Lord saying in 22:21 : the one who will betray me is with me on the table. Jovi Otite You focus more on the fact that it was a table table table, even if you were to receive Holy Communion in a hospital you should kneel simply because it is Our Lord truly present in body blood divinity and soul. I am 100% sure, the Apostle's kneeled when Our Lord gave them His Body. This is also backed up by Rev. Fr. Arnold Renz, during an exorcism in the 1970's. Christ gave them His Body as they all kneeled and directly in the mouth. If we were at a table, i'd be sitting, but then i would get up off my seat for communion time, and kneel to humiliate myself before the Almighty. Just saying.

Unfortunatey receiving the host on the tongue and kneeling is a sign of Jesus' present in the eucharist. There is no reason why this can't be re-instated. We have simply got into bad habits over the years. It can be changed. Have faith.

I have always felt that Communion on the tongue is more reverent, but I was encouraged at my Parish to refrain from doing that because the Priest was so elderly and found it difficult to place the host.
Either way, if one's heart is in a state of grace, one receives worthily - surely. Yet, I have certainly seen fragments wasted with communion on the hand.

Regarding “Communion in the hand” versus “Communion on the tongue,” I have a question. At the Last Supper, did Jesus administer Communion on the tongue? Or did He hand it to his apostles? The Roman Canon (Eucharistic Prayer I) contains the following language:

His almighty Father, giving You thanks, He said the blessing,
broke the bread, and gave it to His disciples, saying:

As for table versus altar debate, I believe Jesus and the Apostles sat at a table for the Last Supper.

At the last supper, Jesus gave his apostles his body. His apostles were bishops, meaning consecrated hands so they are able to receive on their hands. We do not. Yes it was a table but after that it was an altar because an altar is used for sacrifice. Even the novus ordo calls it an altar. Ad orientem represents Jesus making his second coming in the East.

The Apostles were, after all, the first Bishops of the Catholic Church, and as such were permitted to handle The Sacred Host. Modern day Priests have their hands anointed with Holy Oils and because of this they are permitted to dispense the Consecrated Host to the communicants.

I agree with the Archbishop. It is wrong to say we can feed ourselves Communion. This amounts to false pride in humans. Every second we have, every heart beat and breath has been given to us as a gift from GOD. Even the daily food that we eat is produced from the very nature that GOD created for the sustenance of our mortal bodies and so we should not be so arrogant as to think that we actually feed ourselves in the first place.
The Body and Blood, Soul and Divinety is Devine food given to us personally by GOD through the priest impersona who is consecrated to feed us this saving grace and gift from GOD.

It no longer looks like bread and wine so it is no longer the body of Christ. so when you go to the bathroom what is coming out is NOT the blessed sacrament!
It must be remembered that Communion on the tongue is the law of the
Church. Communion in the hand is an exception to the law (it is an “indult”)
which is not commanded but only allowed if all the conditions outlined by
the Vatican are present. If the conditions are not present then the
permission is not granted and Communion on the tongue only is permitted.
The seven conditions are based on two principles as the official document
points out. These two principles are not something that the Pope could
change even if he wanted to because they are based on Divine Revelation itself.

Of course it’s not explicitly stated, but his apostles only receive on their hands because they were bishops. We need to be extremely reverent when we receive our Lord because our hands are not consecrated and dirty.

In the Gospels, Jesus says "take and eat" which means that Jesus
wants his disciples to take in their hands and to eat the bread which he blessed

blessed and distributed (hand to hand) in accordance with Jewish usage during
the Passover. If Jesus had placed the bread in the mouths of his disciples,
this would have been a shocking deviation and would have been noted as such.
Rev. Athanasius Schneider does a disservice to the Vatican II renewal of the
Eucharistic theology and practice by regarding the imposing at all times and
all places the supposed superiority of the practices of his youth. I, too,
received communion on the tongue while kneeling with an altar cloth covering my
hands [lest I touch the host]. Was I then more reverent than now when I
"take and eat" and "take and drink" the Eucharist given to me?
