Great video, thank you! Quick question, where did you get the carbon fiber selfie stick that you have on the rear of your motorcycle (@9:33 you showed it)? I've not found a CF stick but would really like one to increase the stability of the X3 on my motorcycle!
Too much distorsion on ACE PRO. I have ac4. And i just want dji put 1 inch on ac5 in this body or improve low light and EIS maybe and ai chip. I dont want flip screen for action camera. The body of ac4 is the best for action cam. And also add function about puase and continue record and 2x zoom with no loss quality. I dont care 8k but i need 20+ MP on picture. And ac5 should have BT to pair mic like pocket 3
Very fair on the pros and cons of each. I’m looking forward to more regular people giving their Ace Pro reviews specifically ones that didn’t get it for free or have an affiliate link. They’ve got nothing to gain or lose by giving a real honest opinion. No shade on you though. It was a good video.
100% agree with. Difference is that i say no to a paycheck so i can give my honest thoughts. Even if they send me one, i state my opinion. I think that gives the better value in the long run, to be honest and unbiased but still share ones opinion👍
I got you lol. I'll be running mine through it's paces this coming weekend with a series of scenarios so you can make your own opinion on what camera actually fits YOUR needs
In ordered one, I should get it in a few days. Nevertheless it seems the better action can overall. I was to buy the pocket 3 but I can’t use a so sensible camera.
I ordered an ace pro as my first action cam after borrowing old hero from buddies during track days on motorcycle. Looking forward to the Ace pro for night footage in the car (middle east track days at night). My only apprehension is the soft focus on close proximity the insta seems to have. Time will tell.
I bought Ace Pro, and i use it for bike rides (mostly) to be honest so far I love it. U cant take off the lens cover part Im not too worried about( put in lens protector for scratches ) so far i did make a vid once and when sun was on front quality wasnt bad at all. State flow and horizon locked worked well. Color on HDR wasnt bad. I will try to take it out on more riding but like i said so far, I love it. Although only comparing from Insta360 One RS (because that was my 1st and only action cam 😅 )
I own an ace pro, but I think that based on your side by side footage the dji is pretty much as good. Probably most people could use either and not worry about the little details.
Great video. Apparently you can use the dji mic with the ace pro connecting it via the airpod bluetooth method and it works without the transmitter so actually functions like the osmo pocket 3 in terms of external audio
I paired my DJI Mic 2 with the Ace Pro through the Bluetooth method but the sound quality is not great. For example, when my dogs are barking, the audio clips and sounds horrible. I have the original DJI Mics and those pair perfectly through the audio cable method and audio adapter.
I only seen the video sorry my AP arrives on Monday. I have a comica mic I'm hoping pairs without the adapter. Loving your videos keep up the good work 👊
Thanks a bunch Rob for the comparison. Which one bends less (buildings, trees, straight structures) in linear or standard mode? I'm choosing between these two.
Thanks mate!🙌 i think they’re quite equal on dewarp. For wider shots i think there’s less bend on the action 4, but it also depends on on how you angle it
Thanks for this great, well detailed comparison of both cameras! I was so bummed by the Hero 8 Black and first foray into action cameras. The overheating, glitching, having to take the battery out to reset it and be able to turn it on again, or connect to the phone app, was one of my most dismal electronic device experiences. I've been hesitant to get back in. It seems based on this review, these cameras are fairly equal, one has a leg up on the other in one feature, vice-versa on another feature. At this point, it will largely depend on price. Right now, Hero 12 has been selling at $349 USD, surprisingly, for several weeks. Hmm, I wonder why, lol. And currently it is $399 USD for Action 4 and $449 USD for Ace Pro. Whichever between these two first offers a sale price is the one I'll go with. Sorry GoPro, even being the cheapest, full of features I might add, I just can't go back, as still hearing about glitchy-ness.
I am also a victim of the GoPro 8, so much lost footage due the stupid crashes, insane. I have been using it the last years though and will continue to use it. As a B-Roll camera and when things are geting risky for the camera. Not a big loss then 😅
They both seem great and have big pros and little cons. While the ACE definitely looks more clear with almost no jitters at night, it seems over saturated and contrasty. The Action 4 with less details looks a lot more natural. There was a shot where you and your daughter looked like your cheeks were on fire 😅… The sky on that shot as well looked like there was some blue on the ACE, while the Action showed a completely overcast grey sky… I was about to settle on the Action 4 during Black Friday, but the Ace Pro released at that time. I’ve ordered both to compare them myself and see which one I prefer. I’ll return the other. smthg I haven’t seen much emphasis on yet is the audio of the Ace without a mic… I have the DJI mics (1) but I don’t always take them with me when I’m out and about. Acceptable onboard audio is quite important… Thanks for your review.
True! This is the white balance which i mentioned tho, which can be adjusted in-camera/post Sky definitely looks more natural on the ace. As of audio, check my ace vs gopro video. Full of audio clips from both 😎
Great honest video. Can I ask your advice on grabbing stills from video. I believe both apps allow this, but which grabs at higher resolution, and would there be advantage in shooting in 8k to get better grabs? Cheers mate.

Hey man i appreciate your review, im in between buying the ace pro or the dji pocket 3 i would be using it for vlogging/public interview. Question that no one has been able to answer, can you use pure video mode while recording in free form video? I would like to get night shoots and be able to reframe later for both youtube and IG, so would that be possible? Or those recording at night in free form video looks good enough? If you could answer i would greatly appreciated 🙌🏽
Purevideo is purevideo. Its a seperate shooting mode dedicated to low light but can also be used in daylight. If you shot is static on a tripod, free frame would be fine with manual settings
Im just looking for best lowlight performance since i live in Massachusetts and its getting dark around 4pm and would like to be efficient shooting in lowlight for both horizontal and vertical video at the same time. Thank you guys!
I already recalled after replying and insee I didn’t mention that and only default settings. Sorry 😅 Settings 0-0 on dji and medium on ace pro which both equals a medium sharpness
Great review, the 8K 'sensor' was meant for the 2x zoom feature, they don't even push the 8K in their commercial or website so it's not a defining feature nor is it a competitor killer. It shoots only 24 frames so it's not even a wow feature lol. Although, with the existing hardware inside, I wouldn't be surprised if they push this 8K sensor a bit farther. Even the pre-released models couldn't shoot 8K, they activated this as just another 'feature' on release, it was designed for the Clarity zoom which btw, is any competition killer, one of the features GoPro/DJI users has been asking for years, a usable zoom. I would love to see a more detailed non bias review of the Ace Pro focusing on the durability/quality of resolution of the flip screen, more on smart watch integration, and some workarounds for the non removable lens protector, these seem to be deal breakers for many people. For my use, those aren't deal breakers, if this camera is what every reviewer says it is, those two things are small prices to pay for a camera that's actually innovative.
Thanks! I will say. Check my next video🤓 Also 100% agree with you The problems are not deal breakers, people whine over nothing…im sure these people screams at every stone in their path………. We all have options, options to buy or not to buy. But people not receiving a free pre-release model has to whine and cry about it and make the footage look awful on purpose🙄
@@RobHK I agree, ppl can't imagine a company that's not a GoPro or DJI to actually come up with something innovative lol Did you have to buy your Ace Pro? Thank you again!

And for those i always ask people to decide for themselves. Ive fell in to many pits already when i first started this channel with biased reviews and bad products i couldn’t sell or return. So my main goal is to provide the most realistic footage as possible, graded or not. But, i do prefer the X3 over all these other cameras tho😂
am getting the Ace Pro soon. Looking at 4:27 I noticed that the the building and other structures seem to be more straight than the DJI. I have to wait and try mine and see how it works. I think the Ace pro and the pocket 3 will be a good combo for me.
This is a very good review I subscribed to - the 606 thumb-up is mine. May I know one thing about the instant360 ace pro it is about zooming it appears as it has only two positions and no middle position for the zoom is it true or I m wrong?
If Insta360 can fit that GPS remote + screen unit back to ACE PRO Body instead of selling it as an option. that'd be close to perfect camera because now you have duo screen front & back ( with an option to flip back screen ) + GPS . Maybe Insta360 ACE PRO 2 will do that. thanks for your vdo & info .
Funny is that with my DJI Osmo with the front screen, I never use it lol Never had an issue framing shots without a front screen, don't forget, front screen tech is relatively young, we've lived with how many generations of actioncams without front displays? if I'm that desperate to frame, you can always use your phone, the sync between and insta360 and my android phone is lightning fast.
front screen is there for you with no extra cost. You may not need it ,but if you in activity like skiing , hiking , running for that case front screen is very useful . also you can film yourself with front screen without carry your phone & if you drop your Gopro or Dji Osmo from 10 ft high instead of iphone/ android you gonna be fine.@@MiyagisRant
@@MiyagisRant I use the front screen on my gopro just as much as my back screen for framing. Especially when it is mounted on the front of my paddle board. As tiny as it is, it is quite usable. So, this would be an awesome upgrade for me to have that larger screen. I also like that the remote has a framable screen as well. Last time I had a framable screen on a remote was with my Sony X3000. Like the reviewer said; inovation is inovation!
@@mstuartkendallit's funny I'm one of those old fashioned guys that I'm so used to using action cams without front screen that I don't use it to frame, the FOV is so wide and tall it's not like a phone or point and shoot. I have action cams with front display screens, never use them, maybe I just hating looking at myself lol tbh, I doubt I'll even have the Ace Pro screen up at all, I have DSLRs and point and shoot with articulating screens, never use them, but that's just me.
The biggest issue with the ace pro is the fov whilst using it on an a motorbike. I’m not anti insta because I have a one rs/boost 4k lens and 360 lens but also bought an action 3. No comparison with the view which is something most motovloggers don’t mention. DJI all the way
Awesome review. Think I'm slowly moving to the ace pro. Like you I do No action stuff, just gonna use it for the kiddos, & the outdoors. In the near future I see a ton of accessories to protect the lens. I'm sure Ulanzi has something in the works.
@@DavCro The Weather. In South Louisiana the weather will turn on a dime sometimes. Plus when we go fishing I'm concerned about the water getting on the camera.
I'm in the process of sending my Ace pro back for a refund. All of those great features go out of the window if the image looks so soft. I compared with my GoPro 11 (both in 4K 50fps in daylight), and it's not even close. If you want the features and you regularly shoot in low light, it's great. If you want clean crisp 4k images in daylight, I wouldn't choose it.
@@RobHK I have had the Ace pro for 3 days and have gone through all of the different settings and none of them matches the box standard 4K image from my Go pro. The Go pro image has so much more detail, it's not even a contest. Even on all of the YT videos including yours, you can see that there is less detail in the Ace pro image. It feels like I'm the only one seeing this. When I get a chance I will put up a split screen of my tests with the two cameras
@mikezappa less details because less sharpning which you can adjust in-camera or post. But if you like the look of the gopro over the ace, of course. GoPro has good quality indeed, if its much better or better at all. Well…opinions. But there’s nothing wrong with the ace’s quality. Its probably that gopro users are used to the oversharpened look.
“Jerky” review - there are few frames of two cameras side by side, or a frame from one camera is shown and there are no frames in the same place from the other..
The upgrades I would like to ace pro is recording option for log/raw video and easily adding filters. It has a definitely upped performance expectations for action cameras.
When you compare resolution of both cameras. The Action 4 has what 12mp camera? That's like saying its half the resolution of the Ace pro. So that's actually hard to compare but, considering that difference it shows the Action 4 struggles a little but, not too bad. If the next version of the Action would get around a 20mp camera. It might really stand out.
Thank you for answering a few of my questions! I just wish the DJI Action4 looked like the 360 Pro Ace. I really like the flip camera but feel swayed by the 10 log and MLog. Urgh!! What does a girl do?!!! 🤣
For youtube, you dont really need 10 bit. Also consider your needs and what will benefit you. My 8K ace pro and studio test is dropping tomorrow if thay helps tho👍
FABULOUS!! I think I've decided, your vids are really great - because I do a dusty job in confined areas and because I've already killed my iPhone in can of paint and I'm mostly indoors I think the insta360 ace pro is best for me!! Plus I only have iMovie so I feel it may be a better choice for absolute beginners. Look forward to new vid!! Thank you for responding, I've just subscribed, I'll use your link once I'm ready to get one!!!@@RobHK
Love most insta360 stuff, but this one doesn’t do it for me. Action cam with a flip screen and no removable lens cover, AI is gimmicky and limited to I think 90 uses a month, heard it would go lower next year but not sure, no 10 bit d log. Action 4 all the way
Replaced my action 4 right after the release of the ace pro. I think it’s the most well balanced action cam if you are planning to post in social media platforms a lot.
I own the insta 360 rs 1inch, the colours underwater/swimming pool are awful, too much brownish colour, watched a few videos but can't decide if the action 4 has better underwater colour compared to acepro, have you compared them?
wow the Insta360 really kills it, the low light looks so good in the scene. I believe they made some investment in the highlight control...I was going to order the oa4 for christmas but now I think the ace pro more of something i would need, waterproof, lowlight performance, flip screen..even 8K! have you had done any specific test on the 8k yet? anyway I will place my order on the ace pro now. Thanks Rob!
thanks for the video. Planning to get this Ace pro soon for mountain biking, mainly due to low light feature for night riding, gesture for group selfies, flip screen, and AI editing since I like to keep it minimum on post processing. unfortunately the FOV is not as wide as GP12, but good enough. I have GP7 that sometimes freezes, so it will be a big upgrade.
It’s not that hard: the Ace Pro is not inferior on some aspects and better (or much better) on others, so it is the winner. Nevertheless, it should be able to shoot in 10 bit and change lens cover.

front screen is there for you with no extra cost.
Have you had over heating issues with the Ace Pro?
No, only 8k after 34 minutes which is to be expected
The biggest issue with the ace pro is the fov whilst using it on an a motorbike. I’m not anti insta because I have a one rs/boost 4k lens and 360 lens but also bought an action 3. No comparison with the view which is something most motovloggers don’t mention. DJI all the way
Wonderful video
Thanks a lot 🙌😃
Non removable lens cover kill it. Should have come out with clear nd filter for extra protection.
Awesome review. Think I'm slowly moving to the ace pro. Like you I do No action stuff, just gonna use it for the kiddos, & the outdoors. In the near future I see a ton of accessories to protect the lens. I'm sure Ulanzi has something in the works.
Thank you 🙌😀
@@DavCro The Weather. In South Louisiana the weather will turn on a dime sometimes. Plus when we go fishing I'm concerned about the water getting on the camera.
Ace Pro is the new King!! 👑
Im being unbiased, but being honest i would use the Ace Pro for all my low light shots and my next video coming up might even add more
Yo pienso que gopro ya perdio la batalla ante estas grandiosas camaras, ya Van ir quedando obsoletas 😢😢
Well my gopro vs ace pro comparison tells a different story. Check your settings, face/matrix focus and sharpness settings👍
Action 4 all the way
Flip screen nope, fixed lens cover nope, battery life nope. It's a no for me.
Thanks Rob!
Awesome!😎
Yes! I have my 8k video dropping very soon 👍
thanks for the video.
Huuuge upgrade indeed! I aslo wish it was wider, but its their first ever “action camera” so im actually pretty impressed 👍
Poor Gopro They will out of business soon.
It’s not that hard: the Ace Pro is not inferior on some aspects and better (or much better) on others, so it is the winner. Nevertheless, it should be able to shoot in 10 bit and change lens cover.
