Here are 10 practical tips and insights from Patrick Mouratoglou’s video on generating more power in tennis:
Stay Loose for Power: Relax your grip and body to generate more power. Being tense limits your ability to hit the ball hard.
Move Towards the Ball: Step into the ball rather than waiting for it to come to you. This helps transfer your body weight into the shot and adds power.
Hit Early for Energy Transfer: Strike the ball soon after it bounces. The ball retains more energy early, making it easier to transfer that energy into your shot.
Use Your Body Weight: Engage your entire body when hitting the ball. Move your body weight forward into the ball for greater power.
Focus on Depth: Aim to hit deep shots that push your opponent back, forcing a shorter return.
Attack Short Balls: When the opponent slices or the ball slows down, take extra steps toward the ball to stay aggressive and maintain control.
Leg Work Is Key: Use your legs actively during strokes, including during volleys. Strong leg engagement generates additional power and balance.
Control Through Follow-Through: Continue moving your legs and body after hitting the ball. Stopping after contact can result in loss of control and power.
Improve Backhand with Shoulder Rotation: Open your shoulders and rotate them fully before executing a backhand to maintain balance and power.
Serve With Balance: When serving, keep your toss close and let your arms pass freely to maintain balance and power in your shot.
These tips focus on combining relaxed movements, body mechanics, and strategic positioning to boost power and control in tennis.

Patrick ... you an incredible coach, but what an amazing student, he was really listening to the tips, and applying the instructions. So exciting to see his level rise with every instruction iteration.

Thank you, Patrick. I always love watching your videos! I am 11 years old and I really wish I could be trained by you someday. Here’s what I genuinely feel about hitting a solid forehand:
      1. Prepare to hit the ball.
      2. Step in and drive through the ball using your body weight, maintaining a solid stance and staying low.
      3. Smoothly follow through after making contact with the ball.

@patrickmouratoglou_official - Patrick, first of all Thank You So Much for Everything You have done for Tennis. You're a Legend in my book.
I am a 4.25 to a 4.5 player. I use the KFactor Blade 98 18X20 (2008) as my main racket (and love it for its feel and control), and the Blade CV 18X20 as a backup. I have the KFactor Blade 98 18X20 strung with Solinco Tour Bite and the Blade 98 CV 18X20 strung with the Wilson Champion's Choice Duo Tennis String - gut on the mains. None of the Blades produced after the KFactor Blade 98 (I beleive Djokovic used to use that - or a custom version of that back in the day) on have been able to match the KBlade 98 for me for feel control, the right amount of power for me on the Solinco Tourbite - the BLADE 98 CV 18X20 has too much power - I am not sure if that comes from the racket it self or the Hybrid String set up.
Q1) Should I switch to the Wilson Champion's Choice Duo - Gut and Luxilon ALU power Rough on the KFactor Blade 98 - for better feel / control / spin - does that hybrid have any advantage? Does putting the Poly on the mains give me more spin potential, or should I keep the gut in the mains for spin?
Q2) How can I get more plowthrough on the KBlade 98?
Q3) How best can I alter the Blade CV 98 18X20 - maybe string setup change to mimic the feel / comfort of the KBlade 98 - is that even possible? What is the closest racket currently to the KFactor Blade 98 that would suit my game?
Q4) In terms of swing, accelaration through the ball, weight, balance, spin (I know its 16X19, but it seems the strings are more densly packed in the middle so it isn't a conventional 16X19 that would give more spin potential) control will it be hard to adjust to the new Wilson RF 01 Pro? Also, if the Kbalde has a plowthrough of 4 and the OG Prostaff has a plowthrough of 10, where would you rate the powthrough of the RF 01 Pro?

In almost all coaching sessions they teach you, put your right foot forward (through) the ball, here also. But if you look at the top players: sinner, Djokovic, alcaraz etc. 90+% they don’t do that or very minor, they mostly move the left leg backwards and rotate on the right foot. Anyone know why they do it that way?

    • @TrevorForsythe
      @TrevorForsythe 3 місяці тому +8

Moving the right leg through is a good cue for the player to remember weight transfer and rotation, both of which can lead to power. At the pro level, they are still getting weight transfer and rotation, but not so pronounced with the leg coming around because they must move to recover much quicker than the recreational level player.

My dream is to become a professional tennis player, I first played tennis when I was 9 or so, I don’t really remember, after 1 year or so I stopped because it was hard for my family to buy balls every time I had a practice, I moved of country and I haven’t picked up a racket since then, I’m sixteen now and I’ll be seventeen next year, I go to school classes from 12:30pm to 6:30pm, in my town there aren’t many public tennis courts, I think there’s only one on the other side of town, my family doesn’t have a car and the only way to get there is by bus or taxi. Clothes, shoes and rackets are quite expensive here, I would love to practice everyday because I love tennis soo much but unfortunately I can’t, I could only go on weekends in the afternoon, I would like to go everyday in the morning but it would be difficult because of school. I’m trying to convince my parents to try playing tennis again on vacation, I’m really excited for it to come but I’m really worried about the money they might invest in it, I really don’t want them to feel pressured because I’ve tried to talk to them about trying to play tennis again but I feel like money is a big pressure for them. I don’t really know what to do, to console myself I see tennis classes everywhere and imagine being there but I end up really sad because firstly I know it’s hard for me to take tennis classes and secondly it demotivates me to become pro, sometimes I dream that I win Wimbledon (I know that’s even stupid at this point) but I also dream that I’m terrible at tennis. Even though I was pretty good back then, and my parents are disappointed and angry with me for all the money they spent on me for my damn tennis lessons that I'm so desperate to get for the past year and a half, i know that they are really supportive but i fear they will fell that way. I really don't know what to do and I'm very unmotivated to start tennis lessons again, fearing that all the money will go to waste because I might completely suck at it. Sorry if this is a lot of text with mistakes, my native language is Spanish and I'm learning English, I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders as I write this, thank you.
