BOD is biochemical oxygen demand. This is a better test but takes longer. COD is used to estimate BOD because BOD takes 5 days to complete. COD takes two hours.

Dear Aris, COD is the oxygen amount required to oxidize organic matter into inorganic matter. It does not decompose inorganic components.

By aerating, you're increasing aerobic bacterial activity its which removes COD
