I live in Phoenix and my plumeria started out as a small plant in a pot. I have since planted in ground and the plant is now a 10 ft tree loaded with blossoms Love it.
We just got a shipment at Home Depot in Gilbert, Arizona.,What tips can you give me Debra? I’m growing and learning about my adenium and i think soil composition and sunlight and watering are similar to Plumeria.
I grow Plumeria in northeast San Diego, both in ground and in pots. Five in pots, two huge trees in the ground for 30+ years; Steve's instructions are exactly what I do for the soil mixes I use in pots. The screen is very important!! Some of the potted ones I have are 3-4 feet tall and are doing great. Nice tip about the liquid soluble fertilizer he mentions, am not familiar with it, must try it! I have been using Alaskan fish liquid fertilizer (diluted - from concentrate). Dr. Earth products ARE terrific. I use them all the time - no burning, and the plants LOVE the Bloom mix! Great video.
Thanks for the good information of care for Plumerias!! I'm in Hawaii and I just bought a rooted Plumeria in a baggie.. Im going back to California tomorrow and I can't wait to grow Plumeria in my patio!! ❤︎
Great video, Steve! Lots of good info. Next month I will order 4 cuttings in what's been termed a "package deal", all different colors. Actually, this vendor offers a choice b/t 2 groups of 4 each with your choice of colors in your order. For me, yellow is a MUST, so my group will have the yellow colored ones. I'm watching every video on growing plumerias I can find so I can "hit the ground running" when they arrive and get them off to the best start possible. Thanks for the video and sharing your tips. Happy gardening! 😊
Excellent video very informative, I’ve been growing plumerias for a while but I have learned a lot from this video. Thank you so much and keep up the good work.👍🏻👍🏻
First Plumeria looking beautiful! Just went to Kauai & saw Plumeria TREES! Im back in the desert at work, so after selling many baby plumerias…. I bought another one! Thanks again for precise information.🌿👍🏼
thank you steve, im good with plants but just bought my first two plumeria cuttings. one is the dark pink i ordered from hawaii and my other one is a mystery generic i bought while grocery shopping😂❤❤ i cant wait to see what color the mystery one is, im excited. i use 20% potting soil and 80% lava rock pebbles. and i got bloom booster and reguler food. your plumerias are gorgeous brother and they bloom while young, very cool!!❤ jessie in austin texas
5:30! Omg I KNEW there was a real tool out there! My mom covered her drainage holes with the garden fabroc you use to block weeds. She repurposed it as the drainage holes were too big as soil would fall through. But the fabric works just like your tool!
I have an Aztec Gold Plumeria in bloom for the last month. It smells divine. The scent just comes along on the breeze. What a fragrance and so gorgeous to look at. Thanks for the info on fertilizing ratios.
Thanks, Steve. Nice video - as Maurice said, clear and to the point, and you make it look so easy, which it is! I love that you work with your hands and not gloves, and I never knew about potting screens before! One minor suggestion - the volume on your video comes and goes - I found myself frequently adjusting. No big deal, just something to consider for ease of listening. I'm a new subscriber, and I'm looking forward to watching the rest of your videos!
great video, ty :) frangipanis grow everywhere here in sydney. in the suburbs almost every second house has one planted in the ground and some are huge. looks and smells divine wherever you walk by. looks like you have beautiful weather where you are too :)
Great video, love plumerias, two huge plumerias in ground. Live in a hot, hot climate (Laredo, TX ) so they do fine but I do want some in pots so now i know to use half soil for cactus and l/2 of regular soil. This is the first time I hear of the potting screens. Good to know
Oh my goodness, i live in ingleside tx! Can u plz guide me or teach on how to put mine in the ground pleeeeease?? How big should they be before being putting them in the ground? When filling in the dirt, should i put a mixture of soil and fertilizer or layers? Sry, i have so many questions
I found my Planaria in a Dumpster in Austin Tx. I replanted it and now have a 8 foot tree. Now I’m learning how to propagate them. Wish me luck on the 5 new ones I’m trying to grow 🇺🇸
@@freewaybaby Well the big one is pink and white. Only one of the offspring made it and I gave that one to my uncle. As far as how the plant is doing in this heat? Well it’s thriving. I water my dudes every other day and play lots of Pink Floyd. 🇺🇸
Hello Steve, thanks for the great insights. I live in India, and my Plumeria is less than 4 years old, close to 10 ft tall. I haven't repotted it since. As spring is past, I will plan to repot them after monsoon. I use a N-P-K 19-19-19, for all my flowering plants.
Wow! Thank you. I am ecstatic about the idea that i don't have to go to back to Hawaii to inhale the scent of Plumeria blossoms! (Not that I'd mind going back, but to have a tree or two right outside my bedroom window will be glorious.)
OMG! Those plumeria are beautiful. I live in Chandler ARizona. I see people plant them on the ground and they do very well. But my plumeria is inside a pot. Now it’s summer and it’s very hot I put them inside the shade the leaves are not so healthy. I had to put them inside where it’s very very bright.
Frangipani Flower (hoa sứ) is a beautiful flower for Asian women. The frangipani flower tree very big. Have a nice day with frangipani flower tree!! 😁😁
Steve hi! Great video! I bought a cutting from the state fair, planted it in Succulent and cactus soil in September and now the claws are finally starting to uncurl and become leaves. So excited for that. I heard I wasn't supposed to plant it but should've left it in Perlite for the winter. Now I'm worried. I live in MN and was planning on keeping it under a grow light. What do you think?
Great plumerias there. I ove the identification you did .I have two plumerias and one is probably samoan fluff or Aztec yellow I just recall it's white and yellow. The other one has pink but I can't really tell. Now I wish it's a Lilyanna and if it isn't . I'll order a Lilyanna to join my collection of frangipani.
Steve Thank you for your informative video. I would greatly appreciate your advice. I recently repotted my Plumeria for the first time and I had watched UA-cam videos (wish so badly I would of seen yours!) But those videos said to loosen and remove the old soil. I've never done that with any of my regular plants over the years but being new to Plumerias I did what they said. Now my beautiful Plumeria plant is in terrible shock and I feel awful. I'm not sure what to do. Please help.
Just bought 2 plumerias to put in my front yard, to use as my trees, instead of the usuals in my area. Can u share with me a video on best ways to put them in the ground for growing, what is the best size for them to be before putting them in the ground, if a should layers of soil and fertilizer while filling in with dirt, etc... Sry, i have so many questions. I want my beautiful plants/trees to survive! Ive always been good at gardening so i know i can do this with guidance. Thank u in advance
Hi! Thank you for the informational video. I was gifted a potted plumeria tree, which is growing in regular potting soil. I want to repot it with the half Cactus and half potting soil, but how do I get rid of the old soil without disturbing the roots?
Love the video. What causes the buds to drop off before fully opening? I purchased 3 and all three have been dropping their buds. Some do open and last a week or so. Am I watering too much. Can you mist between watering. Any helpful tip would be greatly appreciated. Louise
I have heard of some people pruning or clippling the roots when they transplant. My understand was that this is done to promote faster growth...what are your thoughts on this? Would this work well in southern california weather?
Hi Steve, can you share any advice on what to do to protect my potted plumeria? My dog likes to dig in the soil in the pot, I think to look for rocks and stones.
Love the video. I live in Canada and I grow my own Plumerias and they are worth it. I leave mine dry during summer months but I do water until water starts to drip out of the bottom.
Hi Steve, I live in San Jose of Northern Ca, do you think I can grow them ? I love Plumerias flowers. Where can I get the trees like that? Thanks Steve
IMPORTANT QUESTION. My plumerias have been very strange lately. The smaller sprouts have browning and yellowing leaves, and the bigger ones have small grey spots on the leaves. a few leaves have teeth-looking indents in the middle part of the leaf. Info: i use rocks and soil as the potting mix, i live in a dry area, and i don't water them too often. What could be going on?
I just bought a small 10inch plant and wondering if I should keep it in larger pot extended period before I plant in ground. I live in houston and will plant in west side of backyard (plenty of sunshine and very hot). Thank you!!
Hello, I am a new plumeria grower. I recently bout a three feet tall plumeria from anursery. it is in plastic bag ( 5 gallon in size) do you think i should pot it now.... or wait for spring to pot it. and thanks for very well explained video.
I have had a plumeria for 11 years. It started out as a 12 inch long stick and has grown into a 6 foot plant. I recently moved and when it was transported one of the branches got broken and I believe it is now dead. Should I take it off or leave it. I love this plant and I don’t want to lose it.
Steve wish u had been more specific on fertilizing, how often when it transplanted, when in bloom & when goes dormant in late fall winter. I just transplanted a 4 yr old 5 stalk Plumeria first time & removed some old roots old soil from base b4 I put in new fresh catcus soil w.perlite. U just put Plumeria in new pot without removing old soil. Just curious bc so many Plumeria YT channels recommend removing old soil...
I've grown a plumeria in a container for years in Rhode Island zone 6. All of his information is spot on. Keep the pot outdoors in a warm and sunny spot May-September, and bring indoors and allow to go dormant the rest of the year. I re-pot every couple of years.
